Took my bike in for them to try and get second hand Magura mt8 brake calipers to work with Shimano slx levers. So I got my bike back after 3 days, I had to pay R300 for their inconvenience of having to struggle with this task, (they only attempted to do the rear brake) and with a shortened rear hose! They didnt contact me to ask if I want it shortend and now I have to replace the hose as I cant do bar spins with the bike anymore. Does a 24 street trials bike look like a race mountain bike?!The best part is I got home, struggled an hour to clean the oil off that was spilled on the disc in their workshop, topped up the slx lever with generic mineral oil and it worked...the Magura mt8 + slx lever works. So Im going to another bike shop so they can finish the front brake for me...

Great bike shop with a really high standard of service. Wanted to rent a road bike during my stay in Paarl and the owner accommodated a last minute rental and then opened the shop out of hours for a change of pedals and then to return the bike. Bike was really high quality too. Highly recommend.

I stay in Cape Town but decided to service my bike in Paarl because I visited my sister who stays there. I read the google reviews and decided to service my bike at Cycle4life because of the great reviews. Got onto my bike for the first time this week and heard a strange noise when I switch to the lowest front gear. Called Cycle4life and they say I have to bring the bike back in. Such an inconvenience since I need to go to Paarl for the weekend since I dont stay there. I would have thought that at R1400 for the service someone would at least have taken the bike around the block to make sure everything works 100%.

The only reason Im giving 2 is because the store employees were great. I cant say the same of the manager, who was enthusiastic to rent me a bike then became totally non responsive when I had problems. Rented a bike for two days but it wasnt put together terrible well and was making noises around the loose derailleur. I was meant to ride the night I rented and the next morning. Because of the noise and loose derailleur (and lack of tools as I was visiting town) I wasnt able to ride either. This messed up 2 of my 3 planned rides. I emailed and explained to the owner who asked if it wasnt just the chain making noise - when I assured him I was experienced enough not to make that mistake, and reminded him of the rides I was losing because I didnt want his bike to fall apart on me - he said would maybe refund me if it seemed like a legit concern. Then he stopped responding entirely. I decided to rather return the bike and attempt to get my whole refund because it had ruined my entire plan and wasnt worth it to go back and forth. I actually said if he would confirm my return Id avoid writing a negative review and just move on. But guess what?? He didnt respond to me for 4 days (Thursday to Monday silence). So heres the review sir. (By the way I saw another positive review that he actually wrote on his own store - great ethics, that). I was told by the employee (again his employee at the Cape Town shop was great) I would get my refund then nothing happened for days. When he finally replied, he told me he was too busy as a retail operator to respond to me. A customer with a concern was simply ignored. My guess? He thought I was just some American tourist and didnt feel the need to help me out. Too bad I live in Johannesburg and cycle in Cape Town rather often and was looking for a good quality shop for rentals going forward. Finally got my refund today, 5 days after returning the bike. I will never use them and plan to tell everyone I know here in Johannesburg. Respect your customers!!

Service costs are acceptable. They have a good variety of merchandise and are very helpful. Also offer a membership card.
