Situated in De Hoop Nature Reserve, this is a beautiful restaurant overlooking the vlei with inside as well as, outside seating. We had absolutely top class breakfasts and dinners as part of our 4 day stay. Great service by super friendly and efficient staff. As the restaurant is in a nature reserve, ensure that you make a, reservation and check for the reserve gate opening and closing times.

Those who stay at De Hoop and do not care for themselves are dependent on the Fig Tree Restaurant. The food is good and there is a wide selection of wines. The service is very friendly. The breakfast buffet is also well stocked.

If you stay in this nature reserve you have to dine in the Fig Tree (if you dont cook yourself). The rest of civilization is miles away ...The staff is very friendly and the three course menu based food is a treat. You always have the choice between two variants. Cost: about 275 rand per person. In addition either good red wine or Birkenhead craftbeer. Delicious.The only annoying thing was the dignified atmosphere of an English country club (but there were also families with small children, so please dont be put off) and the lady who went from table to table to do small talk. The latter was simply superfluous and badly done.Incidentally, note the huge whale vertebrae on the wall. Nature. Awesome.
