Nice setting but food has lots of room for improvement. They should rather increase prices and decrease size of menu if needed to offer better quality meals. Couldnt even eat more than half of my steak. Only restaurant open on a Sunday. Milkshake was fantastic though!

Has a bit of everything to fit most peoples taste from vegetarian to spicy and if you miss old fashioned cooking they have that too aswell as pasta and Sea dishes. We wanted to have lunch. Lovely CBC beer on tap. Waited 1 hour and 20 minutes for our food to arrive. Waitresses were more in the kitchen than on the floor.

Reception ,waitress and vibe was great 👍....The platter for 2was very nice,also 1 plate of schnitzel...but there was some plastic in 2 of our friends tramizini , the manager /owner said maybe the plastic got in the tramizini by accident ,4 schnitzels was overbaked or overfried too dark to our preferences but the manager thought it (schnitzels )was still tasty yummy..no matter how some of the guests felt ..she did subtract the tramizini s from the bill after she asked the guests if she can replace it but by then guests lost their appetite lastly the preparations of the food took quite some time , ..so 🤔..thats my reviev/experience

To start with. The cream of our gourmet milkshakes were split. My ostrich was suppose to be mefium, but blood was still running when cut. My husbands ostrich was covered with so much pepper, thst it was not pleasant. Both steaks were bland and tough. I can cook ostrich steak way better than they can. The mash was full of lumps. In total, it was not a good experience at all. Waited quite long for our food as well and when it came, it was almost cold

6th Dec 2020. This restaurant is under new ownership. The variety of food was great and very tasty. The staff and owners are all very friendly, make you feel very welcome.You cant beat this value for money. This was our second visit and we will be back for Xmas day.

Excellent food and a must visit when you are in Oudtshoorn. The buffet was incredible with well prepared fish, sweet potatoes, potatoes, sirloin steak, tomato stew, curried tripe, home-baked bread, salads, apple crumble and ice - cream. All this for R135. Do not miss it!

The service from the start was a dissapointment. Then there was no wine list, so you have to guess the wine you want struggling to remember what they have. The food also lead to my entire family getting really sick after the meal.

We entered this establishment with great expectations after being highly recommended by the owners of the highly esteemed establishment we stayed over at. Unfortunately the food in general was very bland... We had tasteless hake and mashy chips, oily greasy and cold espatada, totally tough and tasteless Thai Cicken curry and even the coffee was of an inferior brand or hopelessly to strong. An utter disappointment. Maybe us folks from Johburg are spoiled with worldclass restaurants... The staf however was very friendly....

Very good and affordable restaurant. We had steak and lamb neck that was very well prepared with authentic karoo lamb. The seating is similiar to Dros and Sirlion restaurants. The meals were served with vegetables and fries and delicious. The prices were very reasonable. Will definately visit again when in Oudtshoorn and recommend this restaurant!

The food was not good at all. We ordered espatada which was cold and full.of fat. The don pedro was also not good. It was runny and warm. Very disappointing

Food good, service bad, we went for breakfast/ lunch. I Really wanted sushi, was told by the waiter, “no sushi for lunch.” Beware the waiter with combs in her ears, you will find yourself waiting for her a lot.

Quote a few things on the menu not available. Waited 45 min for food, when it arrived all the food was barely luke warm. Not all the drinks ordered were delivered. Not the best experience.

We went to have sushi.. And only sushi.. We love having springrolls as a starter.. We couldnt because they were out of chicken springrolls.. We couldnt have dumplings as they were out of those as well.. We were told that we couldnt have most of what is on the asian food menu as they dont have chicken or pork available... When ordering the cheese rolls the poor waiter had to make sure whether or not they had cream cheese available...? That poor girl serving our table was so imbarresed! I am stunned. Karoopot your sushi is the best in town, but I would choose a different place should this ever happen again!Ps: the cream cheese was off... 😔

Prices are reasonable.Decor is bad. No clear indication of what decor should be with a mismatch of furniture and equipment. OrderedChicken Thai Curry that was supposed to be served with Basmati rice. Was served with ordinary rice. Chicken texture was like rubber, probably due to reheating process. Curry was very tasty though.Wife ordered green bean stew that was lovely and tasty, served in a little pot. Meat texture was great. Accompanied with rice and veggies. Hubbard Squash was quite nice albeit with a slightly bitter initial taste that was quickly overwhelmed with a sweet after taste. Broccoli and Cauliflower was insipid, no taste and horrible texture. Probably again due to reheating process.Overall, tasty warm filling meal but I wont visit again.

Went here Christmas day after a road trip from Cape Town due to lack of options. Half the empty tables were dirty with dinnerware, glasses left after the guests have already left. Disinterested wait staff. Took 15 minutes to get asked for our order, another 30 minutes to get drinks, another 30 to get main dishes. We did not order starters. They didnt even ask for what starch my wife wanted - they just gave her fries. I asked for mashed potatoes with my steak, but I received fries. Steak was cooked to preference, but lacked any flavor. I had to add my own salt and pepper. We did not complain because we did not want to wait another 30 minutes for food.In the end, I had to look for the waitress to get the check. Most of wait staff were in the bar area doing who knows what. This whole experience took 90 minutes and all we ordered were 2 entrees and still water.

The service was great and the food matched. We had some sushi and tomato cocktails. Very nice vibe and a great place to start your evening.

Karoopot used to be our anniversary supper place, but that tradition will be ending after tonight. We sat down to a very dusty table, then after waiting 15 minutes we were given even dustier menus. After waiting another 15 minutes for our drink orders to be taken by one of the 3 wait staff on duty during holiday season, we decided to walk half a block down the road where we were given prompt service and a comfortable experience by staff that welcomed our patronage.

Set up is nice. Food was average in taste and slightly overcooked. Presentation was good. The menu is priced for the tourist market and prices are really a bit stiff for the ordinary Saner. Overall impression : average.

Nice setting in the heart of Outdshoorn. The menu consists of the tried and tested country fair. The service could be a bit more speedy and attentive. This place seems to be popular with the locals.

I am appalled at the service at this restaurant. Three days before Christmas we went by for cocktails. Place was packed. We were given menus and after 45 minutes we still sat around without any service. Two waiters only. No apologies. We left. Today we came again just to be fair in our assessment. Again they were understaffed. Three waiters. Given meagre burger buns with a couple of chicken strips. I ordered ciabatta with chicken and hummus. No hummus, no salad. Bad food, bad service initially. Poor student waitress - Natasha - tried her best to make up for her unprofessional colleagues. Kitchen staff were screaming profanities at her within earshot of customers. No manager in sight. Stay away. One star is reaching, deserves minus a couple of stars. Sies.

I disagree, the 1st time i went there on the 22 of December my friends and i left without ever being attended to, we sat there for 45 minutes waiting to order after some menus were thrown af us, we got up and left, but before we left we went to complain again but to no avail they were nonchalant about it, we have never been treated so appallingly. On the 27th we went there again to give them a chance to redeem themselves but our waitress fobbed us off on someone else but that was at least a good thing because our waitress Natasha was a redeeming quality, my friend ordered a ciabatta but the kitchen staff sent the poor girl out with a burger bun with strips on it, when my friend asked her to at least bring the hummus the kitchen staff were screaming profanities at her. My experiences at karoopot were not good, I expected much better but was deeply disappointed. I rate my experience with 0 stars and so does my friends. Very disappointing service indeed.

Ordered the Ostrich Trio and the Chateaubriand (Beef). Absolutely delicious and service was very friendly. If you do decide to visit I highly recommend you try either ostrich, crocodile, lamb or beef, as the area is known for delicious ostrich and lamb meat.

First time visiting Karoopot and what a pleasure it was. Service was good, food was amazing. Just love the atmosphere here. Prices are decent and we will definitely be back.

We are usually very pleased with Karoopot, but tonight it took 15 minutes to be presented with a menu and after another 15 minutes waiting for waitstaff to take our drink orders we decided to dine elsewhere. 5 minutes and our main course is ordered and were enjoying our coffee and cocktail.

Old frying fat. Food taste is terrible. All dishes the same layer of sause. Worst restaurant we ate so far in South Africa

We visited the restaurant on this Tuesday had the hake and calamari, lt had a rubbery texture. My girlfriend had a grilled hake that was prepared in the microwave for sure. The reception was really really bad... But their burgers were good. I expected a bit more of the place. Service was weak, no salt and pepper on the table and had to ask twice fir the bill...

Ostrich burger was delicious but unfortunately service was terrible. Do not come here if you dont have at least 3 hours to spare, service is super slow. I ordered a drink but got a different one because the one I wanted wasnt cooled. Ordered starters but they came with the mains instead of beforehand (you know, to START the meal like a STARTER should) and one was forgotten but by that time we had waited so long already that we werent in the mood to order another one. Then waited forever for dessert which was literally ice cream with a bit of chocolate sauce. Terrible experience. Its really a shame because the burger was so good.

Had to go to bar for drinks, and till for bill, waiter never came back. Ridicioulus as I spend a grand there!! Worts service ever at a restaurant.

I will never go back to the restaurant. We had the sea food pan or what ever they called it. The mussels was off and the prawns. We told the waiter about it she said the manager is on her/his way we are still waiting. The waiter came back and said nothing is wrong.
