I honestly think this should close and get renovated into a backpackers. I do not think that it should be open judging on the state of the premises conditions. Also the odour is repulsive and it doesnt look like it has been approved by the electrical inspector, never mind the location but the are no security done by the establishment. The lodge needs an upgrade otherwise its not a place you want to sleep in unless you are absolutely desperate, probably should be cheap under those hideous circumstances.

I slept like a baby. Workers are very friendly, and energetic. Place very clean and affordable. Thanks guys

We stayed at Blue Banana Lodge on our way to Durban after struggling to find affordable lodgings in Umtata. The atmosphere was welcoming. The other guests had a braai and the owners introduced us to everybody. The owners were accessible and helpful. Great value for money. Id definitely stay there again.

Regardless of income at a facility there is no excuse for a gross shower floor. That literally requires a scrub... a toilet seat would have been nice. And a tv remote that worked would have been nice.... I really like cheap and cheerful accommodation.... this was not that.

The owners & their staff put up our 5 man team at ease, made us great food for our 5-night stay and we really felt at home. Great place to stay for any size group, very highly recommended

Our 3-day stay was one big experience of hospitality and friendliness from the moment we arrived. The rooms are spacious, clean and the service very good. My wife and I shall recommend Bluebanana to everybody that needs accommodation in Umthatha .

We are very upset with Blue Banana Lodge in 8 Bluegum street, Fortgale Mthatha.the rooms are not what they appear to be as portrait on their website. they are misleading the public. the toilet does not even have a seat and there is one single bed in the room. the place is in horrible condition, dirty and the staff are rude. I can understand why people refused to pay them. I would not recommend that anybody stay there at all!! they should not even be open for business and be reported to the Tourism Board which is exactly what I am going to do right now. its disgusting!

This place is horrendous. Do not book here.

Stable condition for one to live under

Not safe at all no security on the premises they break into my husbands work bakkie and steela lot of his tools as well his GPS. WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS AT ALL AS THERE IS NO SECURITY AND THIS IS NOT THE FIRST INCIDENT AS THERE IS OTHER COMPLAINS AS THIS AS WELL...
