Didnt enjoy my stay for a hotel that claims 3 stars rating. Its definitely not 3 stars. No soap or any form or toiletries. A 3 star normally has that. Very very bad place I visited and booked via bookings.com. the other hotel after that was also a 3 star but it was way too good compared to this.

This place is just so peacefull..no mask no entry.staff are dedicated to the safety and wellbeing of clients and local patrions who visits the hotel.this place and its management/staff are so warm and full of love..you wont believe it untill you experience it.the food menu are mouthwatering and dishes are proffessionaly prepared by its chefs/assistants.rooms are comfortable with almost the mood of a relaxed meditation..you dont need to travel abroad to find peace,rest and tranquility..its all here at Portoa Diaz Hotel.thus..i rate it 5 Stars

100% exceptional it was so great...

Booked for 4ppl online 19 September. Expected me to pay again even though I had proof of payment. Said they had computer issues and I could arrange a refund. Also wanted us to pay for another room due to covid. We left and did not stay there. I returned 30 October asking for a refund. Manager awful. Said she needs to check whether or not we slpt there and would call me in half hour. Im still waiting. Going back in a few days and who knows I might just get lucky and get my money back

Cool place if youre planning to stay for work purposes.

The whole experience was something else. I had not made a booking as I was on business and not anticipating to stay over night. When I got to the front desk, the person was abit uprupt (they had no pictures and I asked to see the room and it seemed I was being unreasonable). It had said on the site that rooms were R417, they are actually R495 (breakfast am additional R75). The room was clean but the bathroom vent made a horrible wracket. There is no bedroom manual or instructions on how to play the TV. I asked reception and only found out that chanel 100 plays. For a night only and sleep its a moderate option. For leisure however I woklenr recommend it. The towels had also lost that whiteness.Eventually the staff was friendly though. It has a sort of bar/betting place that serves alcohol and food, youll have to drive 10 km and even then the options arent appetising. Again it was not a planned trip so perhaps a curated trip might be better.

I dont agree that its 3.9 *, their food and food preparation facility is very backward

No management available between 22:00 and 06:00. Guests in room next to us had party, loud music and singing throughout the night and morning. Someone had a fight at 04:00 in the morning. Movement of guests were constantly in-and-out as door was slamming repeatedly.Pictures on the website was not representative of the present condition of the facility...The location/area of hotel is in a very unsafe and lawless area of this town.Read reviews on Google and Booking.com before making a booking.Such a disappointment!

Not my style. Rooms are very nice, big and clean. I feel that area is not safe. However hotel itself has its own security. South African breakfast style superb

What a nice surprise! Did not expect this quality of accommodation and service!! Friendly, competent staff. Affordable meal options, most of which is made on an open fire. A truly South African experience with a touch of comfort and luxury.

I was a bit surprised at where it is located but.... This is a excellent place and i would stay here EVERY TIME i go on vacation. Keep up the good work

We can not complain about anything...the view.... the service...the cleanliness....the breakfast... all excellent....much better rated than our other holiday stays....if Ruzel could be bottled and sold we would be millionaires....thank you for making our stay memorable..

Extremely friendly and helpful staff. The chef is a star and makes the best cheese sauce! Clean and spacious family room. We had a very interesting breakfast...an African breakfast. Super idea!

Room was recently renovated so quite nice. Beds good and kitchen very well appointed. Only problem is area is not great. It does offer secure parking behind big fence

The manager Yolanda and her staff is very efficient and affective when it comes to make urestay pleasurable. Anyone can afford a stylish holiday ii n mosselbay when staying here. Firstly not what we expected,the surrounding area is a No Go.The rooms are Ok although they need to replace their hotel beds,the other downside to our stay their was not being able to make use of the braai and eating areas.The only thing that was great about this place was they have incredibly friendly staff that goes the extra mile.

Service are excellent

I stayed here for about a week and left with a smile on my face.The staff was very welcoming and helpful.Food was great and they have an amazing Fireplace.Overall I was more than pleased with my stay, only suggestion would be to get Aircon and a small Bar Fridge in the rooms.

Had the most wonderful experience at Hotel Portao Diaz. The staff are warm, wonderful and incredibly wonderful. Our group required meals at the most awkward times because of our schedule and the hotel was always accommodating. Always willing to meet our demands with a smile. Yolanda, Bronwin, Leonore and the rest of the staff are amazing.

As a Tourist guide WC9779, it was our very first stay at this quaint, authentic, smart accommodation with a rich history of Mosselbay. The reception was friendly, genuine with the warmest hospitality from staff, very helpful with all our questions. The receptionist Pat-lee-Ann came to assist with the TV in our room & was prepared to offer us an alternative room if we not happy. The sea view from our window was just awesome, the fresh breeze welcomed us each morning into a new day.This place is Not dodge as per other reviews which we read prior to our booking, it is strait to the point as described, therefore I would certainly recommend other Tour operators / Tourist guides to have a site inspection. The breakfast we will recommend as it gives you an African vibe as the meals are all prepared on open fires like our traditional braai no electricity are needed, its environmentally friendly, its a standard buffet. Its 5-7 min to the Casino or Shopping Malls. Last but not the least, a huge thank you to cooks & the friendly lady Ruzell at the front desk that has assisted us with our minor needs & the departure was emotional, she just wanted to make sure that memories are made & it is edged in our minds indelible.

We had a business trip in Mosselbay and surrounds and booked at Hotel Portao Diaz. Booking was confirmed in a few minutes and we were off to a good start! I have read most reviews and most talked about how good they were treated by the staff! I can vouch 100% for that. They werent staff, they became family. There is a great saying Dont judge a book by its cover This hotel is a gem. Awesome staff and it felt like a home away from home! Portao Diaz you get 5 stars from me, and please promise me you will look after amazing staff! They made the trip just so much more memorable. I have family in Mosselbay now.

Booked a family room with kitchenette and when we got there it was not available. Traveling with two babies made this very uncomfortable;when speaking to the manager about it her first response is that we can leave as its full. They offered to move us the next morning and we agreed. They had big sign with food specials and when we ordered food staff had us running around for a waiter once we ordered 10mins later we were told we cannot have the special as its for a group even though there was a huge sign saying tonights special we then had to order food from their regular menu. Had a restless night with crying kids as their milk got sour; and TV kept cutting out. Overall experience was terrible. Will not recommend this property at all especially if traveling with children.

This place is a hidden gem on the Garden Route. Clean rooms with en suite bathroom and secure parking. Close to major shopping centre. Absolutely marvelous breakfast cooked on open fire in the boma! Loved it, highly recommended for travel overnighter or long term stay. Friendly staff.

The place is excellent and the staff very helpful. A few concerns, the hinges on the bathroom doors in the Backpacker section prohibited the door from closing properly.

Hotel rooms was clean and nice. Not in a nice area dogs barking the whole night and felt a bit unsafe. The breakfast is really bad. I was there for a business trip and had to dish up from the fire while the wind was blowing. Cups, plates, seating dirty. When reported to reception lady she did not look interested.

Location in colored are so ourside a little noisy, because they have a backpackers section it kind of spoiled the lovely ambuance of a hotel when u instide rooms clean dinning area looks fantastic.... Reception very Profesional... Loose the backpackers...

Honestly...for the first time Im giving 5 stars for one hotel that is 3 stars.On 1st and 2nd December I did organise a special holiday for a group of 45 people in Portao Diaz hotel and Im speechless!!! friendly staff. The mananger Yolanda james is something else...I gave her thousands reasons to be stressed during the preparation and their staying there but she was always cool and assisting the group.Well done. Apart of that the hotel is clean, and their food is tasteful too. The 5 stars is going specifically for the mananger because I have been in 5 stars hotel several times but even there is difficult to find a helpful, Pacient, professional and friendly mananger like Yolanda james.Thanks very much. We will be back .Crescêncio Bila.

Hotel rooms are very average. The bar is the biggest disappointment. No vibe at all. And the slot machines bring in unwanted characters that ruin the whole experience. Location of the hotel is also not fantastic.
