I went there not sure what the hotel was like. I was pleasantly surprised. Thank you for a stunning room with a stunning view. The restaurant was also impeccable. I stayed at room 403, its an exceptional room, I wish my stay was longer.

The room was well presented and comfortable however could hear the person speaking in the room next to me clearly when trying to sleep which was disappointing. Restaurant looked great but short stay so didnt get to eat there. Gin bar as well which looked very nice.

We where travelling and arrived late at the hotel, we called ahead to ask about halaal food so we could order it before we got there in case kitchens closed by the time we arrived, we then queried if there was any nearby, the kitchen staff said they only know of kfc and mcdonaldsI noted that someone said their knowledge on halaal food was lacking a month ago before writing this review. Whats surprising is that there is a halaal restaraunt literally across the road in the checkers bayside center.We where checked in by the doorman, (who needs a raise in my opinion if he is expected to do the job of a front of house hotel staff his name was zacharia and he was pleasant and tried to be really helpful) as there where no staff at the hotel except him(as far as we could see) , he obviously couldnt change our room as we queried,in the room we had the window didnt close fully and cold air seeped through. The parking is outside on the road which is a bit stressfull.Sounds and noise could be heard very clearly in your room as the walls seem pretty thin.

Absolutely gorgeous Hotel overlooking the Mosselbay harbor with views of the whole bay. We were blessed with beautiful days and could enjoy the view, which never gets old. The staff is friendly and always serves with a smile. Breakfast was good, the room was clean and comfortable. A four star hotel giving a five star experience! A shout out to Peter, who met us a reception and set the bar for the weekends experience.

What an amazing experience. Our first and definitely not our last....clean, refreshing rooms... prefect and romantic eating facility... and so far, the best staff.... will for sure be included in our trips to the Garden route....Thanks. Will definitely recommend to anyone needing a break

It was brilliant, the hotel was clean and comfortable. There were little inconveniences, the staff made us feel extremely welcome and made was want to stay longer than we could afford. This was the Valentines day outing for my partner and I, and did it play the role of a romantic & invigorating visit? Yes. However, I did mention in a prior review that it was lacking on a few details that wouldve made it full-bodied and worth our while. Worth the money specifically. There was a welcoming glass of cherry - whereas I wouldve preferred a bottle of champaign patiently waiting on our bed. There could have also been a chocolate on the pillow or some other tasty delight to welcome us into out home for the evening. There couldve been off-street parking for free. There couldve been a breakfast included in the final price - although breakfast was the highlight of the stay, it wasnt great having to pay such a large sum of money so early in the morning for something that usually comes free. I feel the hotel tried to score every last penny that it could from us. Did that feel nice? No. Would I do it again? Yes. It was a pleasant stay - thank you.

Hardly delighted by the experience. Very average service at reception. Strange breakfast policy for kids. You have to pay extra for your car to be safe. No menu in the room for room. Not offered wifi either. Wont return in a hurry.

The room was beautiful and the staff was helpful. The last two days housekeeping got a bit tired and stopped providing new body wash or the complimentary water bottles.

The hotel has a great location and excellent facilities. The rooms are modern and beautiful and the Gannett restaurant offers very tasty food, although somewhat pricy at R140 for a hamburger. One point of critique is the very slow replenishment of food at breakfast. Sometimes it never happened and we had to go without it. The staff must be complemented for their friendliness.

Stayed at this place for 2 nights during level 2 lockdown. The required protocols for Covid-19 was efficiently carried out from temperature checks to bath towels being sealed in a plastic bag. The staff is very friendly. The noise levels from adjacent rooms is high when doors are opened and closed. Also when occupants use the shower and toilet. I found this very disturbing especially in the early hours of the morning.

Protea Hotel Mossel Bay has great location and has upgraded my room to a spacious suite with wonderful sea view. The recognition for Titanium member is great. Dinner at the hotel restaurant is a must try, good Asian fusion food is available. The staff are helpful and friendly, I experience no difficulty during my stay, great value for money.

We stayed at the Protea Mossel Bay on 26th Sep 2020, everthing was great until we went for breakfast the next day. they were short staffed with no organisation. There was no one replenishing the cold buffet, no cooldrink no cold meats and cheese. I ordered my hot breakfast at 09h45 and after an hour still did not receive it, I reminding the waitress then eventually got my meal with no bacon.

Happy helpful staff. No ! I retract that.. beaming beautiful staff ! Big gorgeous bed with crisp white cotton bedding. Truly excellent restaurant. Really... hard to fault this place. I was not expecting this when I booked.

The staff at this hotel are friendly, well informed and very efficient. They also go out of their way to assist. The hotel itself has been upgraded, is clean and has touches of luxury. The facilities attached to the hotel are excellent. A good resturant and gin tasting room.

Had a great time staying there over the festive season. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Cocktails are great. Restaurant is nice, but a bit expensive. A lot better local restaurants that is more value for money, but all in all n wonderful hotel.

Impressed the minute we walked into the hotel. The modern interiors very clean. The staff welcomed us politely and ensured our check-in went smoothed.The room was stunning and very comfortable. The view was extremely beautiful. We stay here several days without complaints. The aircon is excellent and the finishes good.The sampled the restaurant and bar several times during our stay and loved it every-time!We will visit again!

This hotel is very well located and very well maintained. The staff is very kind and helpful. The view from the hotel to the bay is phenomenal. However it is very expensive, even the fare that does not include breakfast is very expensive too. So , the cost-benefit does not pay.

This hotel was more than I could ask for. Beautiful facility and rooms. The staff was superior. They went out of their way to make me feel very welcome and secure. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

We spent the night en route to Plettenberg Bay. Lovely way to break up the Easter Weekend traffic. We arrived around 8pm, checked-in in no time and accommodated to park right in front of the entrance even when arriving so late. Had a quick bite to eat at their restaurant then walked an effortless few steps back to our room which was a welcome retreat after a long drive. The room had everything you could ask for, clean & modern too. The next morning a full buffet breakfast was included in our well priced member rate (this was a big lure in booking here) & finished off a thoroughly enjoyable & convenient stop during our long weekend away. PS upon leaving, a note on my car informing me that my windscreen was just cleaned was a classy touch. Thanks again Protea Hotel Mossel Bay

Very unprofessional staff and its the worse hotel I have been to .The owner of the place dont even call u back . Manager not on time and the helpers must do the work of receiving the guest staff. I will never go there again. I would rather sleep in my car

This was our second year in a row that we visited the hotel with my family and planning to book it again for DEC 2019. All the staff is really friendly and feels like family already. The food and cocktail bar are really amazing! Great improvement to the speed of the internet.We had a great stay at Mossel Bay Protea Hotel and want to thank everybody who went the extra mile to make our stay special.

If you are stopping in Mossel bay when you are driving along South Africas garden route, the consider the Protea Mossel bay hotel. It is a stunning location right at the harbour and centre of town. You also get free access to the Bartholomew Dias museum and park across from the hotel. They provided both private parking and on street parking just outside the hotel. Mist rooms are great but the townhouse style suites are fantastic, you have a full kitchen and a nice lounge with a balcony at the entrance level, downstairs is the main bedroom with another balcony and a huge bathroom with a shower and a big tub. At the top floor is another smaller bedroom with ceiling windows. The have a great restaurant and bar with both in and outdoor seating with great views over the bay. There is a pool and a nice sundeck for hot summer days. The only thing missing is a gym but they have complimentary access to one of the gyms in town. There is plenty of activities to see and do around the hotel including grocery shopping, restaurants, museums and the harbour so there is no need to use the car. The staff are very friendly and helpful, I would thoroughly recommend a stay here.

Now THATS a good Protea Hotel!Completely opposite of my experience with Protea in Port Elizabeth, which was a nightmare, this Protea in Mossel Bay is a gem! Wonderful people, a charming welcome with welcome drink (and a good one!) upon arrival, good restaurant and good bar.Very nice, large modern rooms. However, no big amenities such as slippers or bathrobes.Breakfast was good too, with live cooking station (egg varieties), sparkling wine and infused waters.They said that theres renovations in progress until October - but I didnt see or hear anything of that.

Overall the rooms were exactly as you see in the website. Staff is helpful and friendly. But just know the rooms are not connected by a hallway. They are open to the outside and are stacked on top like apartments. If you want your rooms accessible to each other you need to book the ones directly above each other as they are connected by a stairway

Really impressed by the front desk. Great service with a smile. Small touches make all the difference on a road trip. For example, the staff cleaned my car windshield overnight since they noticed it was dirty. Hotel occupies a great location too, right next to the Diaz Museum.

Protea Mossel Bay, has the warm friendly feel of a small boutique hotel, but everything required from a large hotel. I would happily revisit.

Could not have been happier with the room allocated to us. Nice size room, clean and fresh colours, modern decor and bathroom finishes. Really good value for money. Balcony overlooking the bay was a plus.

We were met by a friendly and helpful team, the service was very helpful, and a warm welcome, homely and professional.The rooms were clean and modern, but simple and not cluttered. The layout of the hotel was fairly unique, and excellent use was made of the enclosed outside areas, that included a poll and excellent views of the bay. Small compact, but well designed, which enabled you to have individual space, while being within a integrated setting.

I do not regularly write reviews, but will gladly make an exception for the exceptional Protea Hotel Mossel Bay team.Throughout the whole stay, we felt absolutely welcomed by the entire team. From the receptionists, who offered us free parking and showed us around, over the great restaurant staff, to the skilled barkeeper. We also got small Gin samples for free as a welcome gift.Our highlight was the Gin creation with Vernol and Ronnie. It was great fun, very educational, amazing value for money and I have rarely seen staff so passionate about what they do.Luckily, our Gins made it back to Germany in one piece.We would recommend a stay at Protea Hotel Mossel Bay and in particular a Gin school session to anyone visiting Mossel Bay.

This hotel has become my home away from home in Mossel bay...I insist on always staying at this hotel for the last 14 years & at times spent months staying there... The staff are the best, the rooms are comfortable & with stunning views, the restaurant Cafe Gannet serves the best foods around. The facilities are many, gym, Lounge area, bar, outdoor entertainment, swimming pool, wifi, parking... The list goes on...

We were upgraded to a lovey suite with balcony and views for our 3 night stay. The service was excelent and the food delish. Beautiful views across the Bay to the Outeniqua mountains.

Such an enjoyable experience here, from the minute you walk in you experience the friendliness. The rooms are great and has free WiFi. The views are stunning. I saw a beautiful sunrise! Very filling breakfast. The Gannett restaurant is top class. Great steaks! Had some drinks at their Oyster bar and especially enjoyed my Gin and tonic. They actually have a Gin school here which you can join! So definitely the place to stay!

Staff is so hospitable

A surprisingly fine hotel for the occasional traveller, a truly refreshing accommodation overlooking the Mossel Bay harbour tucked somewhat quietly behind bland walls.Sumptuous and rather generous meals top the neatness of its interior and warm dining space coupled with a pub with a pool right near it - a safe distance from the stumbler, of course.Neat!!

Decent accomodations. The room was a bit on disrepair, ( couldnt bolt the lock, didnt have towels when we arrived, no lift, but everything else was good. People are good, showered was decent, bar and restaurant were good.)

Beautiful hotel,with the best customer service I ever expirence. From the help of the receptionist, porter and restaurant staff. Well done to the maintenance manager for the well maintained and upkeep of the property. The rooms are stunning with a luxuries oval bath. They have a Gin school to create our own gin. Secure parking with your name printed out, and the turndown chocolates a thats delivered every evening to the room.They have sushi on the menu which is a plus 10 and fresh pizzas that are to die for. Will definitely recommend this property...
