I ordered a steak, and it was super soft! Goodddd food. Was welcomed at the door by a very friendly lady and all covid-19 protocol was adhered to.

The restaurant offers an open dinning experience, ideal for a family event. The meat dishes are prepared perfectly and are very succulent. The platting is somewhat unimaginative and boring with prices set on the higher side.

An extremely disappointing experience, I can only believe that they are planning to close.I ordered Chateaubriand well if that was fillet, the animal must have been extremely aged, I have never experienced such tough fillet, however, having said that, the piece of meat, looked like no fillet I have ever seen or eaten.Not even worth chancing a future return visit.

Cattle Baron presents itself as a medium-tier steakhouse, with most of the traditional options available on the menu, but undermines itself at every turn, from merely adequate coffee to thinly-cut steaks to sides served in rectangular plastic dishes, like a hospital cafeteria. Even the tiny flags inserted in the meat and delivered to the table, marking how the meat was cooked, gives the message that the kitchen cant be trusted.Its not that we had a bad meal at Cattle Baron, but uninspiring, with poor value-for-money and many chances to be excellent seemingly undermined by corporate.

Fillet was stringy (like it was not cleaned properly) and the green pepper sauce (Madagascar) - I could taste no pepper.... Veg and chips was nice. Desert was delicious. Bit pricey.

Service great, Chef dreadful, Owner LEON VAN DE HEUDEN... APPAULING. First things first. All steak and nd ribs served cold in hotplate. When receiving back our meals, the steak was expectedly over cooked. Then sent it back again. Whilst waiting, the Assistant manager was sent out by the owner to say that we need to pay for the piece I tasted. This was the first time in any restaurant Ive heard someone said this to me. After they messed up the food. I requested to speak to the owner. He comes with an attitude without apologizing saying, a medium steak should be sent out low to cold temperature. Secondly he just feel it is fair that we must pay for the 20 grams (100 grams according to him) that we ate from the same steak he probably heating in the microwave. His ARROGANT and no customer Etiquette, he says he doesnt care if we write a review. I truely hope someone else buys that place and make it the GEM it was before he took ownership 2 years ago. It is actually sad that workers suffer because of arrogant, disrespectful owners.

After supporting them since they first opened, we were rather disappointed yesterday after taking my family, including grand children. The play area was gone as well as the smoking area. We were forced to smoke outside in the freezing cold with no ashtrays and the floor full of stompies. Waitress was great, food ok except the sour cream had been frozen and was inedible. This visit does not leave any memory that would make me want to go back.

Today we had the Sunday buffet for a very reasonable price, and it included a starter as well as a dessert. I was impressed that they offered four meat dishes, and decent 2 layer serviettes. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. The eating experience was pleasant. In general, the upholstered seats are somewhat worn, i.e. hollowed from many clients having sat there. The owners may want to consider replacing the seats.

Its fine for a being served buffet. A buffet was always help yourself but it looks like distancing has put paid to that

We visit Cattle Baron every year when I visit my parents, its become a bit of a sentimental place for us. It always had a lovely warming atmosphere, play area for the kids, and for the smokers there was a smoking bar.On our most recent visit tonight it was a very different place. Ill give that our waitress Monique was lovely and the steaks were delicious, it however will not be somewhere we rush back to quickly, or ever.The play area has now gone, making it fairly child unfriendly, this is a big thing when its one of the main reasons you go there. The smoking area has also been done away with, leaving smokers to stand outside in the freezing weather with 1 ashtray between 4 tables. Not great for the older parental.Theres not much atmosphere, and for a fairly large place, having only 3 waitresses/waitrons you seem to be sat all on top of each other. Although the steaks and kids ribs were lovely, silly shortcuts have been made like freezing the sour cream for the baked potatoes ( which are now 3 small new potatoes, I think boiled, instead of a lovely crispy baked potato) so when it defrosts it is half water half grainy white mulsh. The prices seem to have gone up but even more annoyingly there are items like certain craft beers still on the menu that they no longer serve as the draught machines were taken with in the sale (apparently a while ago so plenty time to have changed things) . All in all, if youre going to buy a restaurant and change everything that was good about it, or what it was known for, then rather change the name and start fresh to avoid dissapointmemt.

I was disappointed in the steak really. Firstly it looked like someone hacked it off the food was piping hot and the plate it was served on was so hot that by the time I got to eat it, my steak was closer to done and very tough....The other meals served to my family looked way better and was better served. So this is a mixed review. But I would love to see them up their game on the steaks, playing the price I did was not worth the meal I got.

Cattle Baron is known for the best T-bones and steaks. They didnt disappoint today. Excellent. The food was excellent prepared and everything with the main meal was perfect. The staff were great and helpful. Prices are not too expensive. This place is definitely an option of you want a steak or T-bone. Their prawns were excellent too. The Hake was the size of a shark 😀.

Incredibly poor! Saturday night and only 4 tables. I ordered grilled fish with baked potato. It comes with standard vegetables: spinach and pumpkin. Waitress apologised and said they didn’t have pumpkin and no alternative vegetable available!!! My husband ordered a steak with vegetables. Our meals arrived but my baked potato was still raw, also the second attempt it was still undercooked. Cannot believe a chef could present such poor quality. This is a very basic meal!!Absolutely dreadful.

The food is amazing. Theyre hospitality is great - you get these cute little homemade buns to nibble as you wait for your food and the whole table gets a plate of spinach and butternut. Great place to eat as a family or a group of friends. The prices are costly, yes, but its so worth it!

I have visited this restaurant on 2 occasions and have had a wonderful experience on both occasions. Food and staff are both fantastic. Owners are hands on and take pride in their business. A good dining option in Mossel Bay.

Had a meal with my folks. Service was good. Food was excellent... meat was cooked to perfection ans my calamari melted in mouth... chicken schnitzel was tender and not oily.

We boeked before the time for 16 people and when we got there we were very surprised to see that we were completely private. We had a great time and the food was excellent.

Not at all impressed. Visited there Thursday for dinner. Ordered the steak and wing combo special. Became violently Ill during the night. The chicken was sour tasting hence my illness. No surprise it was on special probably old chicken. Last time Cattle Baron sees me!!!!

Food was very good. Sirloin was cooked to almost perfection. Would have been perfect if served hot the first time. Service was almost non existing...waiter was too busy attending to other larger tables....very friendly though.

My favorite staek ranch whenever i visit Mosselbay

I have visited quite a number of Cattle Baron branches so I have come to expect high quality from them. While this restaurant has the same high quality ingredients and friendly staff, it fell flat a bit in some areas. Our waiter, although friendly, was swamped as they were short staffed so he couldnt be as attentive as I am sure he wanted to be. The seat at our table also had a big tear in the seating and I understand that these things do happen from time to time, but then it is up to the restaurant to place us at a table that is in good condition - they werent fully booked. The manager on duty also did not seem very aware of what was going on in the restaurant. On the other hand our food was very good, I had their Surf & Turf and my wife the spare ribs, and they also have a pretty good wine list ranging from easy drinking to more premium options. I overall had a good time and will visit them again, but they do need to shake things up as the standard has been set very high.

Friendly and prompt service, out of the approx 20 different steak items on the menu I chose the Argentinian fillet, it was suberp and done to my taste. I will return to try the other 19 steaks. PS Thursdays are steak nights.

Went for the Christmas buffet. Absolutely shocking and disappointing! They overbooked the place theres no AC, ambience or music. Food was average, they served canned beetroot. Wont eat here again

Well known group of restourants for good but bit pricey food BUT this one did not really impressed me. For the whole visit there were no music.... Not much atmosphere! Except for the waiter whos was friendly and fast, no manager or the owner, who was sitting next to us, was visiting the tables. Food was nice, but nothing special. Another visit...? Think Ill try another restourant. Sorry
