This is one of the best Italian restaurants in the world. My husband and I used to go here frequently before we moved from SA almost 3 years ago. We STILL talk about the Melenzane as one of our all time favorite meals! We will definitely be back when we come back to visit!

Lala and Tessa is amazing. Rated as one of the 101 BEST PLACES TO EAT IN THE WORLD... I rest my case. Service is outstanding, I have enjoyed a opera night as well last year that is when some opera singers fill the evening with their strong voices in the restaurant accompanied by a pianist. I had the mezzanine on a friends recommendation and it was full of flavor and very delicious. Lala the chef come and check herself that you are enjoying her food. What a touch of elegance. We had dinner here Saturday night (4 August 2018), the service was absolutely sensational. Every single person who interacted with us, was pleasant and helpful. One of the owners (Lala) even came to us, remembered when we were turned away because they had a jam-packed night a week or two earlier. She ran through the specials, and I chose the Salmon pasta. The food was excellent, well priced. Very nice intimate feeling. Well definitely be coming back again soon.

La-La is the best restaurant owner I have ever met. And whats even better than her at her restaurant, is her food. We have been eating here for a few years now and have never been disappointed. Based on good reviews we went to restaurant expecting something special and were disappointed. Food was average. Was also disappointing that chef was not prepared to listen to our feedback and became rude and abusive. Will not be returning.

What an unexpected exceptional experience! Fantastic food. Excellent waiters and hosts. We were really looking for another restaurant and stumbled across this gem. You can taste how fresh the ingredients are, although it may look plain, the taste and flavour was excellent. Fast service, absolutely everything you would like from a restaurant. Good authentic food, utterly amazing service (the best that I have experienced for a big table to date), and I loved the attention that we received from the host. It was a truely amazing birthday lunch.At the end of lunch, I saw that the host was equally attentive to other couples who were visiting for lunch. Never, ever had a bad meal here. Homestyle Italian cooking at its purest. La-la is the most energetic and homely host you can ever ask for and that gives this place the personal touch. Her daily specials are proper wholesome with natural ingredients making the big difference. Even with the gnocchi you can tell was handcrafted. This is one of three authentic Italian establishments you will find in Joburg. And this one is tied first.

Truly excellent Italian without the usual overdose of heavy fat and salt. The pastas are totally excellent. The caprese is the real thing with real búfalo and freshest herbs. Perfect service. Really good coffee. Limited but excellent wine collection. Not the cheapest and the environment /location is rustic South African industrial, but that too has its great charm!
