Relaxing garden, sparkling blue pool, playground for kids, wooden deck with a thatch roof and large cooling fans overlooking the river and the Kruger National Park. The service was friendly, welcoming and attentive. We had four different meals, calamari with prawns, prego roll, chicken fillet with veggies and a chicken salad. All beautifully plated and delicious. We didn’t want to leave. We saw many different species of birds, Njalas, Impala, Waterbuck, Hippo, Crocodile, Elephant, Rock Monitor and Bushbuck while enjoying our lunch.

We always stay in Malelane and self cater. This time we thought, we would rather support local restaurants. We arrived at the Deck, looked lovely and were looking forward to a lovely dinner. We are greeted by a very surly woman at the door (Dressed differently to the other staff) We instantly felt like she was doing us a favour, and very unwelcoming. We eventually found a table, as she had wanted us to sit in the smoking section. We got a round of softdrinks, and asked a question about the prego roll. That is where the service ended. The waiters were all standing at the back talking. Restaurant was not busy it had 18 people. Nobody came to take our order for over 20 min. We eventually got up to ask what was going on, and were told...Ill come now..The attitude was just terrible. We decided not to stay. Asked for the bill. They wanted to comp our drinks, we refused, payed and left. Not a word of an apology from the waitress.We went for dinner to also look at the accommodation, to perhaps stay there on another trip. Unfortunately we will never put our foot back, if that is the attitude of the staff.  Very disappointing.

Great food next to the river.

Solid selection. Wouldnt say that Ill remember the place for the food, but with such am amazing setting, it is possibly difficult to match that.

Food delicious had rump steak with baked potatoes and veg. Service friendly and efficient. Over looking the river and has lawn and pool.

The location is phenomenal. While we were sitting on the deck enjoying a drink, we watched elephants play in the river, saw hippos and spotted a big croc and giraffes coming down to the river for a drink. The service was good and friendly. A very worthwhile stop in Malelane

If youre looking for small patio with a nice view directly off the N4, thats about all youll find.The waiters were friendly, but of zero help. We ordered 2 simple items for lunch. The prawns with rice/ veggies and a burger (with no mayo) and side salad. A simple enough order, but sadly we received a chicken sandwich (with mayo) and the prawns.When we asked if the kitchen was out of burgers, the waiter said she changed the order to a chicken sandwich because the burger meat is mixed with mayo.We said fair enough to her decision, but sadly the chicken sandwich had mayo on it!So another 25 minutes later (50 minutes since we were seated) they brought the burger (without mayo), but all the while left the prawns on the table the entire time to get cold... by then, the overcooked prawns were to cold to enjoy.We ending up eating a few bites of our food, paying the bill and leaving completely unsatisfied. Its a shame, because it seems like the restaurant could be so much better.Do youself favor and skip this place. 2 stars for the view.

Feel like ambiance was not on point when I was there, but I could feel the residual vibe of excitement cause of all the animals that came by, the food put my heart at ease and has me wanting more, and maybe even a sleepover.

The Deck has one of the most awesome settings for a restaurant - on the banks of the Crocodile river. The food is good but not exceptional. The service is unfortunately rather average.

The place is beautiful and nice but their service is very bad, the waitresses are not well trained about their work and full of unnecessary terms and conditions.

Stunning! This is the only way to describe this wonderfull place. The view is only surpassed by the superb food and atmosphere. Prices seems steep but it is worth every cent. I have yet to find another place that can do a lamb shank like here. Loved that we could sit on the lawn with our ice cold drinks and look into the Kruger park. Saw a wide variety of animals. Definately the place to be.

The Deck is allways an amazing experience. This time we where fortunate because we had dinner with an elephants family. Its the kind of experience that only the Deck can offer. Great staff, nice food, dream location. When in Malelane, you must eat there, at least one time.

Excellent restaurant experience, right on the banks of the Crocodile river with a view over the Kruger National Park. My default order is the lamb shanks - perfectly cooked and served with a smile. Carol - our favourite waitress, greets us with a hug! Watch the elephants and waterbuck roam the riverbed while you enjoy your meal.

Get there at sunset to watch the animals across the gorge. Stuffed chicken is amazing. Kingclip was overdone, but the mash awesome. Staff very friendly and helpful.

The location is amazing with views onto the Crocodile River and Krugers passing wildlife coming down to drink. The staff are very friendly.However the last couple of times we have been a bit disappointed as the food has unfortunately not lived up to our expectations, for instance over cooked and tough kudu steaks. The burgers could be revved up a bit.The one dish that was good was the Eisbein.With a little bit of extra TLC in the kitchen this could be such an amazing place!

Good service. My carpaccio was too salty no rocket and not enough balsamic (premixed with oil) and was sprinkled with finely grated parmesan. Hugely disappointing. My fellow diners toasted chicken mayonnaise was perfect. Didnt get enough milk with our tea but were given more on asking. The milkshake was delightfully thick although slightly too sweet. Nice ambiance. We went for a light lunch and a bigger meal may be more thoughtfully prepared
