Good service and decent flavors. Good variety of Thai and Vietnamese food. However, there is a marked difference between this branch of Saigon and the fantastic Cape Town one: there are no longer part of the same group unfortunately and alot of the dishes are not the same as before. However, the manager is excellent and although wait staff are not knowledgeable of the cuisine..he does do an excellent job of maintaining standards. The venue is unfortunately noisy due to the surrounding properties so be prepared.

What an amazing time we had. Top class service from Dereck and his stunning team. Made us feel welcome. Attention to detail, dishes well explained. A real Vietnamese experience in the middle of Revonia.

My husband brought me here on what was one of the most lovely date nights. The atmosphere and decor are delightful, its perfect for an intimate setting. All the staff, and the manager, were very attentive and on the ball - overall the service was excellent. I was so impressed with the divine starters (duck spring rolls), but what will have me coming back for more again and again will have to be that exquisite seafood hotplate! The whole dish was made in front of our table - the seafood flambéed to perfection and then the coconut and peanut curry sauce added for a rich, creamy and perfectly spicy meal that was more than enough for take aways as well, my husbands chilli beef hotplate was also an absolute winner but the fanfare of my dish was hard to compete with. Attention to detail like an ice bucket for the champagne and the coconut ice with the bill were the bows on top. Excellent Saigon! Excellent!

If you have ever travelled Vietnam you would know how the Vietnamese people pride themselves on quality food and consistency. Saigon restaurant in Rivonia serves the best authentic Vietnamese cuisine and they seem to have a knack for brilliant and bold flavour in all their dishes. The food was absolutely delicious! We had a wonderful evening trying different dishes from the wide variety they had to offer, each dish being better than the next! The staff were genuine and polite, the overall ambience was great, making this a memorable evening out. For a little taste of Vietnam in South Africa, Saigon restaurant is a must try!

Lovely celebratory lunch! Two had set menu b and one had lemongrass chicken. Overall it was a great experience. The pho was delicious, not as big of a fan of the sweet and sour soup. The prawns were fantastic. Caramel pork and lemongrass chicken were ok. Usually with Vietnamese food the pork and chicken seem a bit more crispy (not fried or crumbed, but crispier). Here it is a bit more on the steamed/ stewed side. The lemongrass chicken tasted more like a Thai coconut curry dish than lemongrass and chili. Jasmine tea was fantastic— no tea bags! Real leaves which was a lovely surprise, and everyone liked the garlic rice. Strange to mention but Condiments were on point— each dish came out with its appropriate condiment fromHoisin sauce to fish sauce. Very pleased with the experience and service! Beware the Thai birds eye chili oil... if a jalapeño is hot for you, this will take you for a ride...!

I think I have a bias for Asian culture, people and cusine, I am yet to confirm that with my self. Just a disclaimer here...When I go to Saigon I usually feel the need to want to wear an Ao Dai.The restaurant architecture is beautiful and holds stories, their waiters are gentle and welcoming, their service is wonderful, their food is one of a kind. Still cant reverse engineer some of my favourites - but one day I will Saigon chefs, one day I will!The restaurant is also Covid conscious, please pay them a visit for the rest. And, they have some Vietnamese imports to purchase.Love it!

Went here because of the Entertainer offer. I found service to be below average; the waiters take a long time to take your order even when it’s not full. My friend ordered the chicken and liked it. I had the garlic prawns. They were good, didn’t expect it to be coated and fried, and not to have gravy.

My boyfriend and I where feeling for Vietnamese food and we figured let’s do Saigon, as we both have eaten here before and has never failed.Atmosphere and ambiance is spot on the dot! Hostess is very welcoming at the door.Parking right outside.Accommodate for smokers, there is seating outside for them. As well as an outside area inside for non smokers but people who want to enjoy the fresh air breeze.Food was absolutely Devine. As a starter we ordered beef that was juicy and cooked to perfection in the most delicious sauce I regret not remembering what it was called and then as a main we ordered the mixed seafood spicy wok with a side of noodles mixed with veg, which was perfect for 2 to share, still took leftovers home.... The waiter was very friendly and helpful, (he knew his stuff) as well as he didn’t overload us with food as some do “(bigger bill, bigger tip)”...Not only did he deliver great service and tasty food but he “put the meal together himself as our entertainment” which I thought was very cool..I had as well TWO kiwi cocktails cause they where so damn delicious.... my boyfriend had 2 glasses of wine. Out bill came to just less of R600.Value for money, DEFINITELY!!!

I enjoyed myself at saigon. I got full on the the starter. By the time I was having main course I was already full. If you are looking for Vietnam experience saigon is the place to go.

Slightly above average food quality. Expensive for what you get. Decor ok. Service is reasonable. Had the tom yum soup. Compared against Anong in Cyrildene it disappointed bitterly, but then Anongs is the best I had in Jozi.

Going in I had no expectations of Saigon. Most reviews were mixed - some scathing, others glowing. However, from the minute we walked through the door, we were treated to exceptional service and hospitality from wait staff to the host and especially the manager.The real star of the evening was the #Vietnamese food though! The complimentary prawn chips were among the best Ive had - light, crisp and deliciously seasoned. We ordered a couple of dishes and ate family style.My favourites include the caramel pork, tempura veg and pork riblets.The perfect ending to the evening was the dessert plate. It was a smorgasbord of indulgent sweetness. We all loved the coconut ganache and the pavlova bomb.Saigon is highly recommended and will be back!

For over a decade we have been coming to Saigon. The food, service and atmosphere are always impeccable. The attention to detail and warmth from all the staff is why we keep returning. We have celebrated birthdays, anniversaries and so many other special occasions and are thrilled to see the restaurant has survived lockdown and the service and food are still 5 star!!! We will be back, again and again!

This is probably as close to Vietnam as you are going to get without leaving South Africa.The food was not what we expected. Obviously Vietnamese style food, but everything was amazing quality and oh so delish. The sharing Pho Bo soup, the Ostrich Fruit Curry and yes oh yes the Peppered Prawns was some of the best prawns we ever had. Not joking about this. Next time we will probably just order 12 Peppered Prawn plates. The Deep Fried Banana was a tad of a letdown, as the batter was tasteless and the plate was soaked in rum. It was supposed to be flambéed, but the waiter kind of dropped the ball on lighting the alcohol.The waiting staff are all dressed very formally in native Vietnamese wear, which really adds to the theatre of the restaurant. It felt as if we were in Vietnam, everyone was helpful, friendly and seemed very chilled, it was so authentically Vietnamese that we could barely understand our waiter, as his English skills were quite poor.The place is perfectly decorated in our opinion. All the furniture is wooden and there is Asian style art hanging from the ceiling, a little streaming fountain filled with fish in the middle of the restaurant, and statues all over. It felt peaceful, yet moving, as if you are in a tropical spa of some sort. Which makes sense as there is a massage parlour downstairs that they also own. This restaurant is hands down my special somewhere to go. Ive lost count how many times Ive eaten at Saigon Rivonia , but I do know that each and every meal Ive ever eaten there has been consistently delicious. Its authentic, special and well worth a visit. Often ordered take out as well to collect and never had a disappointing meal yet , not even an average meal! Its always a GREAT meal ..Love love LOVE this place 💜🍜🥟🥢

What a let down.Went there hoping to get some, hopefully, true, Vietnamese food. Left disappointed.The Bahn Xeo(pancake) not crispy at all, just one big mushy mess.Tried the caramelized pork(after the waiter argued with me that I ordered sweet and sour pork, only to realize he actually gave my meal to someone else), which is definitely not worth the price.Only saving grace is that I could at least watch the little fishies in the tank.Maybe the kitchen had an off night, but on the evidence of this, will not be going back.

The food was nice and one has a nice view of Rivonia. The service was also fine. I would give it a better rating but for the price. Once one adds all the side dishes its really overpriced for what one gets I feel. Compared to other Asian restaurants with similar offerings its too pricey

Excellent food, great vibe and over all a great experience. The manager was very hands on and so were the staff.My best suggestion would be to go with a group of friends and all to order different dishes to share.Priced fairly considering the quality and portion sizes. Lovely treat as an after meal mint you get some coconut ice.Only complaint I have is the fact that I probably wont be able to fit into my dress after tonight.10 out of 10

We have been to Saigon a few times and this is the first time we had bland food and terrible service.

Was hoping the pho listed on the menu would be the real deal with broth and all. However, it was served in stir-fry form. Food is flavourful and portions are generous. Cuisine seems very similar to most Thai restaurants.

Yummy food love to go back again

I love Saigon - its great for a birthday, a date night or even delicious takeways. Everything on the menu is fresh and delicious, and they have a lot of fun starters for groups, like assembling your own rolls. Their duck is spectacular and their cocktails are very tasty.

As always this restaurant with its unique style, delicious cuisine and friendly service was well worth the visit

The food was great and the sparkling wine was chilled. The waiting staff were nice and efficient.Not much in the way of atmosphere to report, but very little complain about too. The restrooms were clean and tidy, the card machine worked well, I even got complimentary cake as it was my birthday.It seems that Vietnamese cooking favours steaming over frying so the selection of gluten free dishes was very satisfactory. The salad was fresh and the spice tofu delicious.I am definitely going to visit them again.

Experience traditional Viatnamese cusisene in Joburg. Each dish here has a distinctive taste of herbs and spices. The roasted duck is definitely a must try. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The seating inside is beautiful and the alfresco has a view facing Rivonia road. Ensure you are get a bit early during the level 3 lockdown as the orders end at 7:00 pm and they close by 7:30 pm.

Wow - What an amazing taste explosion. We had the Prawn litchi green, Duck butternut red, Barbeque Duck, Crispy ginger fish, Crispy ginger prawns and the Seafood hotplate - each dish was exquisite with its own unique flavour, the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable, it was indeed a pleasure to be served by the waiters who gave us excellent advice on the best choices to suit each one of our preferences, presentation was spot on and the restaurant had a nice warm ambiance with all covid protocols in place, I will definitely be returning.

However the quality and service has dropped significantly.I was given a chipped cup and a dirty plate :-(Waiter was not too enthusiastic to serve my party of 4.Food quality was flavourful, however portion size was smaller than usual.Please revisit your business model!!!

Nice area and good food. Friendly staff. The guy was able to have the orders in his mind without any notice on paper. The same with drinks. Always care about drink and food. Clean toilets no bad smell. Quick delivery of our meal.I can recomment this restaurant.

What a wonderful experience.We were greeted at the door by a wonderful hostess, next we were ushered to a quiet and romantic part of the restaurant. We were then met by our waiter who helped us to chose a nice bottle of red wine. Remember was quiet, reserved but knowledgeable about the food and menu. We ordered the Mekong platter for two as a starter, it was fresh, delicious and well portioned. The beef was super tasty, well marinaded and tender. Our main was shared, we ordered the Caramelised Pork & Egg, it was savoury, sweet and melted in our mouths. The portion was generous enough for two. For dessert, which was certainly the highlight of the evening, we ordered the deep fried ice-cream. If ever I had felt like I was in heaven on earth, it was certainly while I was eating the deep fried ice-cream! It was mind blowing! Later the manager, Derrick, checked in on us too! :) He was super attentive and kind.We cant wait to go back!

Absolutely delicious food! The barbeque duck with plum sauce was one of the best meals Ive had. The pork spring roll starter was also super tasty. A bit pricey, but awesome for a special occasion.

Excellent dining experience. The portion sizes are very generous. The cocktails delish and the service is excellent!! We had set menu B which was such great value for money and allowed us to try out different food options. Not to say that the other options werent great but the spring rolls & pork stood out!! You wont regret this place a try!!

Hands down one of the tastiest dining experiences in the country. Amazing food, always fresh and well-prepared, with efficient friendly service to match. You always feel like you get what you pay for, and want to come back for more.

What a great experience. Despite having bought a hyperli voucher, our food was hot, served to perfection, tasty and leaves you full yet wanting more. Service was average, but ambience and decor was great. We were well impressed and will certainly return to adventure amongst the rest of the menu. So worth trying.

Its a quiet and romantic atmosphere. You can sit inside or outside on the balcony. All the staff are friendly and welcoming, and the soup was so good, I ordered some to take home.

This long standing authentic Vietnamese restaurant offers a large selection of vegetarian, poultry, meat and seafood dishes. Some plain, some spicy, some very spicy, all tasty and generous portions. Service is friendly and efficient but a little low on energy. Deserts are great so leave a lot of space... (try the chefs dessert platter if you cant decide!)

I didnt enjoy the food at all. All food that I ordered was sweet, too sweet. The service was however excellent. I give them a 5 star for that. Theres a waiter by the name of Remember that really took good care of us..He was awesome.
