If you have a food emergency and in dire need of a great foodie evening, call oneNINEone immediately.We enjoyed their 3-course menu that they created for Restaurant Week SA 2017, where we were able to choose between EARTH (vegetarian dish), SEA (seafood dish) and FIELD (chicken or beef dish) for starters, mains and dessert, but dessert had no seafood, which makes sense as we have never seen a seafood dessert.We started with EARTH (Baby Beetroot, Celeriac, Gorgonzola, Baby Carrot, Beurre Noisette, what a mouthful ay) and FIELD (Chicken Liver Parfait, Smoked Chicken Breast, Corn Forms, Mushroom). The FIELD had delicious elements, but the chicken breast was a bit dry for us. As for EARTH, it just stood out with the amazing pairing between the baby beetroot and gorgonzola, an absolute match made in heaven.For mains, we ordered SEA (Line Fish, Octopus, Mustard Seeds, Tamarin, Baby Brinjal, Tomato) and FIELD (Rib-Eye, Biltong Pap, Swiss chard, Bone Marrow, Horseradish). Now let us tell you, these were both fantastic. The mustard seeds and baby brinjal in the SEA dish were like nothing we have ever tasted, a big thank you to Chef Xavier for introducing the unique flavours. The FIELD was perfection. A very heavy and rich dish, but everything on the plate was pure indulgence and complimented each other so well. Not a big fan of pap, but this was one of those times that flipped your whole perception of a dish around.Dessert was EARTH (Carrot, Saffron, White Chocolate, Pecan, Churned Buttermilk) and FIELD (Strawberry Varieties, Wheatgrass, Almond). EARTH was like a deconstructed carrot cake with warm buttermilk to ensure it wasnt dry, this is what we call comfort. The FIELD was an interesting one, with the wheatgrass kind of giving you the idea of mowing the lawn while eating strawberries, not our type of dish though.It is always great when you are served with true friendliness, makes the worlds difference. They did everything a great waiter should. Serve and clear dishes quickly, be friendly and talkative when talked to, check up on you and made sure we had everything we need. The one odd thing was the number of people checking on us. As we were eating, our waiter and the floor manager kept on coming by to ask how our meals are. This is not that bad, but it is a bit overwhelming.Romantic, semiformal and just plain relaxing was the feels we got from them. oneNINEone is beautiful, a wide open and arty restaurant with comfortable seating and an open kitchen for you to gawk at as the head chef prepares dishes.oneNINEone is pricey, we won’t lie. Amazing food, stunning setting. Not very busy so its easy to have a conversation without being drowned out. Attentive wait staff and overall, a lovely dinner or lunch place.

Good food thats no question, although quite expensive when starting to compare to similar establishments. Something different earning the 4th star: The kitchen is open top the restaurant and the plating happens right in front of you. Something unique to fine dining.

Had the lamb rack...two small bits of meat. One a blob of fat. R275.....Open plan kitchen a mess, chefs on cell phones drinking water out of bottles. Untidy restaurant...really bad advert for Hyatt. Never been in a Hyatt Regency....very disappointing. The man in charge did try fix and brought me another portion. RIP off

Food was appalling. Both mains were overcooked, dry and tough. Unacceptable for a fine dining restaurant to not even get the basics right. We have had a good experience at onenineone previously but wont risk returning. Service was also poor, server didnt seem to have been trained.

Valentines dinner left much to be desired Food was a wonderful gastronomic taste experience spoiled by abysmal service. Felt like the real staff had gone on strike and the servers had been grabbed off the street and given 5 minutes training. It looked like everyone was stressed out and the chef was behaving like Gordon Ramsay.

Great food and service and the place is beautiful

Highly unexpected, but our breakfast in the courtyard was, at best, pedestrian. Fair enough, hotel buffets are not a hot bed for great fare, but Ive had way better at cheap B&Bs! And at that kind of pricing and that many stars for the hotel, it was terrible value. Ill give them the benefit of the doubt with another try one day, but wont be rushing to do it

Beautiful restaurant but food was average and expensive. Most disappointing was the service which was inattentive and very slow. With so many great restaurant options in Rosebank you can definitely do better!

Valentines disappointment!I am utterly disgusted by the service-level of OneNineOne. I made a reservation for Valentines as a surprise for my wife, reservations were made on the 6th Feb and confirmed by OneNineOne via SMS the same day. I called to confirm the booking at 18:18 on Valentines day, which a lady confirmed my booking and details (name, surname and cell).On arrival, the ‘so-called’ manager, Duma, received us and advised we did not have a booking. He then disgracefully dismissed us and in a disgusting manner, told us we did not follow process and pay a deposit as the other patrons did (how were we to know if we were not told to??). He then daringly told me I could not have confirmed the booking earlier at 18:18, as the lady who does the bookings leaves at 16:30, insinuating I am a liar! He then proceeded to ignore us as if we were second hand citizens.We then spoke to another manager named Troy, who managed to calm us down and told us there must have been a mistake on the bookings. He managed to get us a seating by the side table by the entrance, on the wall by the kitchen, which was not ideal considering the cost of the dinner, however we had no option elsewhere due it being Valentines and gave us a champagne as an apology.The waiters seemed everywhere and were all in different casual outfits however the food and presentations was good.During our meals, not once did Duma come past and apologise. We have never been treated with such disrespect by an establishment and will avoid this restaurant from now on.
