Food was excellent, the service was great and quick.Restaurant was relatively empty, probably because of random (late) hour in the middle of the week.Naan was a bit on the sweet side which was a bit different and unexpected but nice.Great atmosphere and well located.

Ghazal was simply wonderful! Authentic Indian cuisine bringing back good memories. The menu was massively varied, so I will have to go back and try some more 🙃 My visit was midweek and the entire area was rather quiet, but I would imagine that booking would be necessary closer to and over a weekend.

The food and service were both excellent. We ordered samosas, paneer tikka and onion bhajias as starters and they all were very nicely cooked and delicious. For the main course, we had Chhole Masala and Paneer Masala with garlic naan and it was made spicy as requested. The Naans were nice and soft and we loved the overall ambiance and service. Even Chef Siddhu was kind enough to pay a visit to make sure everything was okay.

Throughly impressive food and service. Manager (Mickey) could not have been more attentive. The bill was ridiculously cheap for such a fine experience. Definitely return.

Amazing experience! We visited for my parents anniversary and were thoroughly grateful for delicious food, quick service and a peaceful setting. The variety of options on the menu is vast and provides a truly authentic Indian taste sensation that everyone can enjoy! Serving sizes are extremely generous: all curries are accompanied by rice, and a special mention must be made for the array of Naan breads. They are a certain winner with all members of the family! Overall, we were so satisfied with cuisine that bursts with flavor, colour and the finest ingredients. The desserts are superb too, both of an Eastern and Western origin.Must visit, most enjoyable and blessed meal :)

Beautiful restaurant. Average Indian food

Really great experience with friendly service and delicious food. The chicken Tikka and prawn Masada were really tasty...I think the best we have had as was the garlic Naan. Well worth a visit for North Indian cuisine and the kids can run around outside which is a bonus.

The best Indian restaurant in Johannesburg. Its a bit expensive but if you want to try something different or celebrate a special occasion just visit there.

Beautifully set restaurant in Melrose, the booths look especially comfy to sit in with the big table for large groups and cushions on the seats. The food is delicious and pricing is reasonable. I will definitely be returning here again. Also the level of spice is true to your selection of mild, medium or hot.

Best was the smoking area outside. Service is good but not great. Food was lacking in flavour and pricy at that. Suppose for the Arch its average. I wont be back.

Excellent choice for Indian cuisine. We had a variety of dishes from Tika Masalaand Chicken Curry to Lamb Kabobs. All excellent tasting and the we had medium spice which was just right for us. The serving sizes were well portioned and we left feeling just right. The wait staff was friendly and the atmosphere was clean and inviting. Would eat here again!

Our first time at the restaurant. Service was very poor. We had to ask our server about 5 times before we got paper napkins, and there werent any cloth napkins either. Food was ok. We were having a wonderful evening until we saw cockroaches. We were horrified as this is not acceptable. We would never eat there again or recommend this place to anyone. I couldnt imagine what the kitchen would look like. The health inspectors need to check out this place, as it is unsafe for people to eat there.

A very good restaurant if you are looking for Indian food. Their spicing of dishes is excellent and so very tasty. Waitrons are attentive. Just some of the chairs and decor are a little shabby and could do with some TLC. Definitely worth a visit

I have to update my review from two years ago, when I said I always preferred Ghazal at Peter Place, and thought the Melrose Arch branch was too modern and sterile. Its settled down well now to create a nice ambience. And since the manager and head chef from Peter Place have moved here now, so has my allegiance!

I had the Hot Masala Chicken Tikka at Ghazal and boy was it good! I would definitely go back for another. Service is great, they are willing to bring your food to you if you arent eating at the restaurant, if that isnt great service then I dont know what is. Food portions are worth its price tag and taste great. 5 Stars.

Might have just been our luck but they didnt have the ingredients to prepare Bombay Crush and most of the desserts werent available. Still a good alternative if you like the Raj but want a change of scenery.

Birthday supper at this place was a bad idea. In fact any meal at this resturant going forward would be a bad idea. No complimentary papadom starters that you usually receive at an Indian resturant, food takes long to prepare, mushy prawns (means in freezer for too long), no finger bowls to wash hands nor wet wipes and so very average food for an indian resturant resturant.... so disappointed ...

Really bad experience. Started off bad when a fruit fly walked off my menu. Cutlery is kept on the table without any table clothes and table tops are somewhat sticky. Some of the cutlery and starter plates had finger prints on them. Waiter had his thumb in the main meal plates leaving finger prints. Chicken meal for my daughter was returned and taken off the bill as there was no chicken pieces in the meal! I asked for hot and the chilies added to the meal were burnt.Will never go back.

Delicious food, I enjoyed the lamb sheesh kebab and naan - traditional Tandoori style. It is on the pricey side, but the portions are generous.

The food was really bad, rice seemed like it was old or not of good quality , the chicken was dry and not fresh, the paneer makhni was filled with food coloring / dye. My husband and I got sick from the food. For Melrose the quality of food is not on par with the other restaurants.Maybe the food is better when you sit in.Sadly disappointed , eastern food bizarre in Cpt is 100 times better for a fraction of the price . Had to throw the food away sadly. Definitely not restaurant quality.

I wouldnt recommend this place at all. The restaurant was extremely loud. The service was lacking - our waiter was literally running from table to table and had little time to answer any questions. The chicken tikka appetizer was very dry and flavorless. The lamb samoosa crust was hot but the lamb inside was cold.
