Service levels at Checkers stores are generally up there... Not the case with this particular store. Terrible customer service, ever since the store opened in 2019. Theres an ongoing issue with empty shelves in this store. You often have to ask merchandisers to get items from the back. That usually takes quite a bit of time. Sometimes theres no merchandiser in sight. I have reported this on several occasions with managers on duty, but it is not rectified. The real issue here is an inept management team.If you can, save yourself the unnecessary headache and stay away from this particular Checkers store.

Had a wonderful experience with the blockman at checkers in ferndale on republic. His very polite and goes out his way to give the best cuts for his customers, I honestly wish other stores blockmans were as nice as he is. I highly recommend anyone wanting good cuts of meat to ask for him I shall confirm his correct name tomorrow but think its Antêlé

Very disappointed and dissatisfied with the service I received today from Xoliswa who kept looking disinterested when I was trying to communicate. It was my first time experience at this checkers and was severely disappointed. somebody called Lerato was being called to come sort out an override option and she basically said no and walked away .I had to wait longer for the floor manager who let me stand in a money market line instead of trying to adequately help me.

Best Checkers compared to Cresta and Braam Fischer. The store is neat and clean. Meat section does not stink like at Cresta. Great selection of fresh produce. Aisles are nice and neat. Not a million merchandisers unpacking product.The staff is outstanding. Without me knowing they helped me to look at the specials making sure that I am getting the best deal management also friendly and go the extra mile. This Checkers has become my go to store for groceries.

Good variety of fresh produce, speciality confectionery treats, great variety of seafood and butchery items both fresh and frozen as well as everyday groceries and related household goods. Also serves prepared meals, delicious soups and oven/microwave ready dishes as well as great ground coffee. Offers extended shopping hours. Only criticism is that the isles are narrow and lead to congestion during peak hours and over payday weekends. Easily accessible parking.

Not enough choices for meat. But good bargains for veg and fruit.

This Checkers has very friendly staff who are helpful and patient. They are generally well stocked (although their fresh chicken seems forever sold out). Any pricing errors are quickly addressed and on occasion their bargain table has some very nifty specials.

Nice shop, nice variety.But minus two stars:1. Money market never has enough staff around so you have to wait.2. They keep insisting that the address of this store is 50 Vale Ave Ferndale.How do you propose to get to the store from Vale Avenue?

Rudest staff ever. You cant preach social distancing if your staff do not do the same with each other. I was LITERALLY pushed by a staff member so that she could have a chat to another staff member. Also, they should be wearing gloves when touching the rolls!!

Solid checkers has everything youd expect. Good size as well not too big as to get overwhelmed. Stock can sometimes be iffy depending on time and day but mostly good.

Clean, going according to the social distancing, helpful staff, good prices, organised shelves, well stocked. Apart from eggs, need more free range eggs.

I bought toiletry items and paid using my card ,but I noticed that the total was higher than what I expected. As I went through the till slip I found that 4 items had a higher price than whats on display. Variances ranged from R5 to R30. The manager didnt really care , he said he is used to pple complaining. It took me another 20mins to get out of that store. The Service is rubbish. Check your receipts. The prices are wrong

Entrance security has very bad attitude. I used to do my shopping here but will not come here to do shopping anymore. Will also share my experience with friends and advise them not to come to checkers Ferndale on Republic.

Great to have a nice big Checkers close to home.It’s a one stop shop for almost everything you would need at home. Also great if you need to buy food that as already been prepared.A favourite of mine is the container of vetkoeks that they sell at a very affordable price. You can also just buy some mince cheese and for dessert some syrup to put on the vetkoeks. If there is any leftovers, you can always freeze them to enjoy at a later stage

Great Checkers to visit, well stocked and friendly staff. Meat section requires some work, got bad old wors a few times.

My first visit since the revamp. Pleasantly surprised! Decent size, but not too big. Good variety. Maybe a little understocked, but not bad for a Sunday afternoon. Close to an entrance, so you can park close by and dont have to walk through too much mall. Really like that it wasnt too crowded. Definitely the nicest Checkers in the area (incl Cresta, Bram Fischer, Emmarentia, Northcliff). Theyll be seeing me again.

I was an ethusiastic shopper at this store since it opened as it is close by and I used to be an employee many years ago. Slowly the service deteriorated until my last visit there today. On my entrance I was not acknowledged by security. I then asked for veggies to be weighed but the lady was too busy talking loudly with a colleague and I just had to wait my turn. No greeting. No thank you. I could just as well have been invisible. I was clearly an irritation to her. The staff did not wear uniform because of Valentines Day. However no red and white. Just plain anytime casual clothes as if THEY are tbe ones shopping.Staff were packing and the isles was difficult to navigate. Not a pleasant shopping experience.Good Bye Checkers. Checkers Ferndale staff are the rudest bunch of individuals - they could careless about the customers who contribute towards their salaries - They certainly have A Lot To Learn.

Absolute Mess of a store. The merchandising is that of someone who never worked retail in their life. I have two examples(have many more) They have vitamins sachets which I bought once a weekend four weeks apart, 4 weeks in a row it wouldnt scan(nor get fixed). Theyve been out of some stock for more than a month, and that shelf has been empty that long(sauces). The managers in charge makes no effort to remedy the merchandising mistakes and just has a stern we are sorry but thats that attitude. I wont return. Thats sad as the store is beautiful and the bakery food is so fresh.
