Absolutely amazing!! Best Indian in the area. Been there many times and never been disappointed. Authentic flavours, generous portions, well priced - what more could a curry lover need?!?! Cannot recommend enough. Thank you for your delicious food :)

Went to dinner at this restaurant with my family. A very warm and inviting atmosphere, with complementary poppadoms on arrival we felt that the staff were very attentive and friendly. The menu demonstrates a wide variety of foods including some Asian cuisine and many types of curry. The food itself was very delicious and beautifully displayed. This restaurant is highly recommended for lovers of Indian food and a good night out.

If you are looking authentic north Indian taste then I would say this is the place. In my 5 years stay in Johannesburg till date this is the place where I experienced authentic Indian taste of foods. Ambience is good, courteous staff, good quantity food, what else you would look for ? Garhwali chef (hailing from Uttarakhand ) knows how to tempt your taste buds. We had veg ( Starter : Platter, Bharwa aloo, Main:- Balti Paneer, Masala Kulcha, Khurmi naan, Garlic Naan ) and is highly recommendable...AB..

Ordered the tandoori chicken on ubereats. was absolutely shocked at the way the food looked, it didnt look appetising at all. the chicken and chips were horribly dry. First and last time I order there. Wouldnt recommend it at all.

Review №15

SO disappointing! The service was horrendous, such attitude recieved for merely asking questions about the menu. Chicken Tikka is dry and the restaurant has no sauces except, raw beetroot and onions, a sweet watered sauce and a green liquid. ThePappas was even stale. Absolutely disappointing. Will not recommend this restaurant

Worst indian restaurant.. Please do not order their paratha breads, chillies bites and samoosa... Especially if you just want a snack

I ordered two platters ( non- vegetarian R145 and vegetarian R125) as it was my dads birthday. I received it from Mr Delivery as they said the delivery is free... I received the items (it felt so lightweighted) then was told by Mr D that theres a delivery charge because it exceeded a certain limit (this was not the initial agreement )... So anyway ended up paying Mr D.Then opened up the platter to find how mediocre and unappealing it looked. It didnt look very pleasing on the eye and the samoosa was drenched in so much oil. I was shocked to realize I paid that much money for a very below average looking platter. I tried to salvage it by adding more presentation on the platter. After trying the platter, a few hours later I got an upset stomach and honestly I was not surprised.Really disappointed with what was produced at this restaurant today and will not be purchasing anything from here any more.

Expected more from a restaurant in Cedar Square. Waiter and manager were not accommodating at all. My friend is a vegan and asked for a substitute on a vegetarian platter. Was flat out refused. Then when asked for a side sauce/chutney/curry gravy to dip the rather dry platter items in, we were refused again. Said they couldnt provide anything even though we were willing to pay extra. The reception from the waiter and manager was cold and downright unwelcoming. And I also think they were running low on milk.... My Chai tea was almost black. I wont be visiting this restaurant again....!

I tried the Classic India for the first time this weekend and was blown away! The best Paneer Makhani Ive had as well as the greatest Punjabi Samoosas. The chili bites were not the normal chili bites Im use to but still had amazing flavour. My new fav little Indian spot! I ordered through Mr D and when the food arrived it was still ridiculously hot which was great for a cold weekend! This will definitely be my weekly treat!

I hate to give a bad review but the food from here was not good. It doesnt taste like Indian food at all. The spices were all wrong. The Korma was full of sugar and very stodgy. The Dhal Makni tasted like an Italian dish.. Very weird food.

Love the food. Ambience is a bit dull but the food guaranteed a five star rating. Uncomplicated dishes with tons of flavour regardless of the item that you choose.

Definitely one of the best restaurants for Indian food. They are not a fast food place, but the wait is worth it. The portions are quite large, but you would not want to share it with anyone. They have lunch time combos that are great when ordering takeaways. I can highly recommend the Chicken Tikka Masala!

When I went for the first time the food was really delicious probably one of best Indian food in SA and I recommended this place to many. When I visited for the 2nd time and ordered the same menu it was really a different experience. Starters were dry, main course was also not at all appetizing. When I complained about it, the manager told me that their chef is moved to their other branch due to some event and temporary chefs are working here. After some time I wanted to give them another shot but had the same bad experience. That was my last time there.

Had the chicken korma, could tell the chicken was not prepared correctly as it did not have flavour even though it was submerged in curry. Also ordered the Chilli Chicken without gravy which was drenched in gravy and after enquiring we were told that what we ordered was correct...Additionally waiter completely forgot our naan order with our meal.Save yourself the trouble, go somewhere else.

What an experience, when you speak about food it must always be descriptive. As an Indian South African we tend to think curry is not the same unless it’s from our mother... or that rare wife... anywhos I got to take my “rare”to this classic spot in meyerdals... as jy ‘n leker chow soek... test your taste buds and pull through to the Best Indian food joint in Jozi🌈💆🏻‍♂️ No I’m not related to the owner but praise goes out to the chef and Princess.

In jhb for the long weekend and took a stab at this restaurant. We ordered for a big family so 3 x half tandoori chickens should be fine right? Wrong! We orderd for pick up and recieved anything but what we expected. The half chicken was actually 4 small pieces of chicken..literally 4 cut up pieces in a huge box with stiff dry chips...worst ever! Cme on people...stop ripping ppl off! #pisstOff

Has Classic India outlived its Tasteful days?A very poor experience considering I have been to this place in numerous occasions and every time it has been a great experience, until now. Can it be because, we were the only guests on a Tuesday evening. The moment we realized we would be the only ones we could have stepped away, however my past experiences said no its gonna be fine - which proved otherwise. The chicken starter was chewy instead of having soft texture(which was brought to the notice of waiter who gladly reheated the starter for us and said its all fine), the Manchurian had a hint of staleness. The main course was no different either - The chicken bhuna was not at all same as before, the Dal makhani was slightly burnt and the paneer tikka masala was way too sweet. I need to think twice before visiting you again especially on weekdays. We had this special dinner planned but we did not enjoy it at all. A complete waste of time and effort today considering I stay in Sunninghill and there plenty of restaurants here which could have made this dinner evening special. You were chosen for a purpose and great past experiences but I regret it today..

One of the worst restaurants I have been to at Joburg. Even though the service was on time but the taste of food was pretty bad. I have never had such an awful malai chicken tikka in my life. To the chef...are you sure that is the way Malai tikka is prepared ?And yes, they charge a compulsory 10% service tip on top of your bill...but why ? I did not like the food at all. The table clothes are not that clean .And may be because of these reasons the restaurant looks empty.
