Excellent service and food out of this world. Everyone so polite and helpful. Highly recommended
Amazing food, nothing short of delicious. Good prices also. 👍 Service was excellent. Clean restaurant and nice atmosphere.
Sorry to change rating but food was sub standard today thali was ok but biryani was without salt and 🌶 though we clearly asked the spicy one and biyani was more like tava pulav. *Old review* . Very tasty and delicious food at reasonably well price. Its the same group which has Taste of Mumbai at Emperor Place. Area is surrounded by all type of other restaurants. Must visit for all Indian food lovers. Harpeet was very humble and served us well. Good service. Keep it up guys .
Food is great But not the sitting service. Its best for takeaways
Wow, the food . The atmosphere,! & friendly staff as well
Food was superb. Authentic Indian. Their Naan bread is amazing and large portions s.3 of us shared Lamb Korma, Butter chicken curry, and Prawn Curry.PHENOMENAL!! such a pity they are not very busy. They deserve to do well.
I had Chicken Madrid and butter Naan today, very very tasty. Thank you for making such delicious food
The buffet was really good and worth it, lovely food.
Buffet is excellent value for money with good home style deliciousness. Great attentive service
A hidden gem in Joburg purely for the R90 curry buffet. Its a lot of vegetarian starters, and a mix of mains with lamb and chicken. The place is usually booked for the buffet on Tues and Sat so best to make a reservation. The desserts are average. Buffet aside, regular dishes are delicious like paneer, dhal and chicken. Ordered takeaway for a good 4 years straight from here and it was always good. Service can be slow on buffet nights as you have to flag your waiter.
I arranged the party for 60 people at Shai Khana. What I got it here more than my expectation. Food was delicious. They offer multiple choices in starter and main course. Over all food is very good and value for money. Staff is very friendly and helping. Their service is good. I will recommend this restaurant for arranging party and Indian buffet. Me and my guest enjoyed their food and services which is they offered. They also have a BAR option so you can enjoy your mouth watering snacks while Holding your Drinks.
A personal favourite for a delicious Indian take out with great prices!
The food was delicious and amazing. Service prompt and great
Awesome restaurant! Great food and well priced buffet.
Good service. Food was alright.
Definite go to for those spicy craving. Awesome Indian cuisine. Authentic dishes and very affordable pricing.
My meal was delicious..Tuesdays and Saturdays are buffet days....the vegetarian starters offer a variety of flavours and crispness in every bite...The curries have their own distinct flavour..an amazing variety is offered on the menu....the sauces for the curries are delicious...either creamy..buttery or spicy ....depending on your specific taste....uniquely tasteful... The rice pudding was decadent...simple...sweet....satisfying... ..
Wonderful array of fresh flavours and textures. Great service
Food was delicious service was so nice 👍
Best Indian buffet supper
Authentic Indian cuisine (not Durban curry). The Tuesday and Saturday buffet is one of those well kept secrets. Make sure to book for buffet.
Great food for the whole family. We opted for takeaway, because Corona.
Excellent service and friendly
Havent had supper at the restaurant. Only had take aways. Food is of a great quality. Highly recommended.
Shahi Khana lacks in decor and ambience, but it more than makes up for it in the very generous and tasty buffet it serves. Lots of variety, 12 vegetarian starters and so much more for just R90.00 a head. Value for money.
Authentic Indian food , it was really good and tasty, and very reasonably priced. We are coming back for more!!
Great place to have Indian style cuisine at a really affordable price for groups and individuals alike. With an unlimited buffet it really depends on how much you want to eat. Taste is great. Loved the starters. Good to book a seat in advance although payment can be done later since it is pretty much popular. Ambience is pretty modest but that allows you to better enjoy the food. When to visit: Tuesdays and Saturdays - Unlimited food for 90 ZAR.
One of the best vegetarian food I have eaten. The buffet on Tuesdays and Saturdays is very a good bargain very much worth it
North Indian authentic cuisine. Tuesday is buffet night, and a fine spread indeed. Very reasonably priced. With a lovely outdoor seating area which is like a secret garden. I can recommend the Masala tea which I enjoyed.
Good Restaurent with tasty food at good price. Offering buffet on Tuesday and Saturday at a reasonable rate with so many dishes.
Very nice
This was the most awful experience I have had in years. The service was non- existent, the tables sticky, the staff unwelcoming. the starters were cold and greasy, the plates chipped, the naan bread doughy and the samosas pale and stodgy. No help offered at the buffet. We had to beg for refills of cold empty food dishes. The salads at the main course area were at best soggy pools of limp lettuce or empty. We started our meal just after 7 30pm. By 9 30 pm no refills had taken place.Oozing hacked watermelon had run out . NO dessert . We were given small bowls of poor quality ice cream after we told the staff the dessert was finished. The management also unwelcoming. I cannot believe that patrons will accept such inferior quality, exemplified by a lamb curry that was all bone.
Dainty restaurant in a slightly dodgy part of town. The food was inedible and very lacklustre. The staff is very limited and area is cramped too. The starters menu was decent but it seems like they are missing a good chef and interior designer.
Always love to go for buffet. Tuesday and Saturday they serve nice buffet. Nice restaurant to enjoy delicious Indian food in affordable rate.
Excellent Indian food here! Although very limited items on the menu, its still good enough to remind you of your Indian taste again. :)
From the onset one is excited to experience the glory of an all you can eat buffet at a cheap and cheerful price. In this case you get what you pay for. Starters on buffet all taste the same in a deep-fried batter, oily lamb, never enough nan, sad ques of people waiting for generic butter chicken. Sigh. I wish it were better, but after seeing the humongous rat in the garden, experiencing terrible stomach cramps on two separate occasions, the jig is up. Try it once for kicks but spend your money elsewhere.
Great buffet. Value for money. Great tastes. Not too spicy
Really good food and excellent value for money at the Saturday night buffet
Love the buffet!
Great food at a good price with lots of vegetarian options on the buffet.
Buffett night.. so delicious.. great experience
Great food. Worth the visit
Very tasty
The food is very delicious, there is a huge variety of Indian dishes. The price is very affordable. The place look a bit old school but is worthy to make a stop on Saturday night!
Delicious authentic north Indian food. Efficient service. Reasonable prices. Fully licenced. Yum.
Probably our favorite place to eat as a family. Good food, friendly staff. What more could you ask for
This is my go-to place for curry, be it over Uber eats, for the buffet, or just a regular sit down dinner. Food is always delicious, staff is lovely, and the atmosphere is usually very lively--even when its not, its still a good experience.
Love this place! All you can eat buffet on a Tuesday for R85 pp. Really worth it; starters, massive selection of curries, and deserts. Lots of vegetarian options. Very authentic
Owner is from Mumbai, India. Hence; real Indian cuisine guaranteed. More varieties of starters - both veg. & non veg.. Maintained authenticity of Indian taste.Buffet is also available on Tuesday & Saturday from 18:30-21:00.
Lovely hidden gem. Authentic curries at very reasonable prices, I am convinced this is the best-kept secret in Joburg. The restaurant has been going for years and years, and the quality of food has remained consistent and delicious. Their Tuesday buffets are wonderful. We normally have take aways from Shahi Khana, and the portions are ridiculously generous. When having a sit-down meal, the food is served in authentic copper pots, and one can enjoy the colourful and traditional murals on the wall. Once might argue that the decor could use an update, but I think it only adds to its authenticity. One of my favourite spots in Jozi. Is a great place to have a birthday or celebratory lunch.
Such a legendary and Authentic place. Fast and helpful service. The food was out of this world tasty and the best part was the price. Will definitely return when ever I go to JHB
Good place to enjoy indian food away from India
Zero rating as the food for takeaway was almost stale to be rotten and the owners wont admit it.I found a cockroach too..Food could be great for there buffet but hygeine is totally underlooked and during there off peak hours never ever dare to order food!!!No consistency in food quality!!
Excellent food! Really amazing food! Good friendly service! My favourite Indian restaurant in South Africa, and nearly the whole world, outside of India. Still the best Lamb tikka masala ever!
The food is lovely and sold at a reasonable rate. Definitely worth it. Ive been there many times
Best butter chicken I have ever had! Top notch food however they can work on the decor and service delivery.
Lovely buffet. Lots of variety at an awesome price. Secure private parking was a bonus. To be repeated.
My favorite all you can eat curry spot in Johannesburg. I go there often. Every Tuesday is all you can eat curry 😍😍
Great butter chicken curry tasty naan
Brilliant traditional Indian buffet REAL value for money
Awesome starter.. Be careful while ordering main course..
We had booked a table and when we arrived there was no space available and they asked us to sit at the bar. We ended up sitting outside and received mediocre service and average food.
Great value North Indain buffet, go with an empty belly...
Good food. Authentic Indian taste. Ambience need big make over
Must visit place. U should go on Tuesday and Saturday. They charge 90 ZAR for unlimited veg and Non veg buffet. It is indian cuisine.
Great food and ambiance. Highly recommended
I love their food. Meat dishes also very nice
Visited this restuarant for the first time and Wow!!!!!!!!!! What a fantastic find. We were blown away by the price, quality, variety and taste of the food. We were lucky to have visited on a Tuesday night, which is when they have a R90 pp buffet. I really was expecting a basic spread for the price but I was pleasantly surprised. The variety was one of the best I have had. There was a Choice of about 12 vegetarian starters, each one a delicious master piece. There were items I had never tasted before! The starters alone were well worth R90. The main course compromised of chinese noodles and Manchurian, lamb and chicken curries, butter chicken, rice, Naan bread, fried fish, numerous veg curries, fresh salads, and to top off the meal, were the most crispy, delicious, freshly made jalebis I have ever tasted. There was also ice cream and vermicelli. I have to say that irrespective of the great price, this is one of the best Indian buffets I have ever had the pleasure of eating at. Every single item was so well made, with the best ingredients and with such pride and perfection. The food was not too spicy, but full of flavour. The restuarant was busy, but service was good. I found the modest decor wonderful, as it gave true authenticity to the place. I would give this restuarant a all round 10!.
Worst veggie korma Ive ever eaten. It was extremely bland. Tasted like it was nothing more than coconut milk and frozen veggies.
Had a great Korma here. Food was delicious and the atmosphere and service was great too.
Love their special buffets on Tuesday and Saturday. We have never been let down by the food and it is real value for money.
Delicious food, good staff, overall a great experience. Definitely going back!
Good fast food venue for takeaways at a really good price point!
Food outstanding and the buffet exceptional value
I ordered for takeaway on a Monday..the order was worth 700 rands..the food when opened was eaten by 10 people and every single person could make out the food was stale..absolutely horrible food was served..the catch was certainly i ordered it on Monday afternoon...and this place has a buffet on saturday..possibly it was the leftover from saturdays Buffet...and to make it worse the owners dont accept...worst experience...
Place is in Norwood.. ambience is normal but food was nice.. reasonably priced
My Sons 1st Birthday Party. It was amazing.
A very extensive number of dishes available on the buffet table on a Tuesday evening at R85 a head - delicious options of Northern Indian cuisine.
Great family restaurant.
Absolutely disgusting experience. Incorrect order received and raw chicken. Restaurant refuses to rectify this and put the phone down. Trying to call again and they ignore the call.Avoid at all cost.
Good solid value for money and seriously delicious food. Decor should be upgraded though.
Food was excellent, portions quite sizeable, and service superb.
Best Indian food restaurant in Johannesburg. Award winning as well.
Delicious and well priced food.
Food is tasty and acceptable quality
Very tasty food love it
Worth for money but some days food can go awry
Buffet is bery nice. Lots of variety. And starters was amazing.
Their tuesday buffet is great value, and their food is always tasty
