One of my favourite spots, so I might be biased. Its such a peaceful and laid-back place.I love the combination of a good show and a relaxed lunch afterwards. The food is of high quality. Curry chicken and the fillet steak highly recommended. The chocolate sweet is the perfect dessert treat.They did not have my choice of soft drink, perhaps the bar could be better stocked.

Hidden gem in Joburg. Wonderful and peaceful accommodation. It feels like a home from home. The breakfast was not very special or outstanding - quite plain and ordinary. I think more effort could have gone into the breakfast. But for a stopover while in Joburg, it is recommendable. The atmosphere is awesome and the buildings and gardens are phenomenal.

A Jewel in the heart of Johannesburg! Beautiful old house built in the 1920s packed with history! Huge gardens you can get lost in with many ponds inhabited by swans and ducks.It doesnt feel like one is in Johannesburg, but rather somewhere far away. The rooms are spaced out in the gardens and are quite private. I stayed in Jessys Cottage, which has its own lounge, dining room and kitchen. At night the staff lights a hundred candles in the garden which makes for a magical atmosphere! As I stayed there for a few nights, I got to dine under the beautiful big trees, and inside the old dining room. Food was traditional, and reminded me of dining at the old Volkskombuis in Stellenbosch. My favourite was the traditional chicken pie of which I could have had 10 plates!There is also a beautiful little theatre filled with photos of South African stars who performed there and a Hollywood like garden of fame, with hand prints of South African celebrities.

[ Part 1 ] Foxwood House messed up and forgot we were arriving for a high tea on Sunday afternoon. When we rocked up, there was no one was there. Contacted the manager Lucy and she said she would phone down to let us in. We then sat at the gate and had to phone again before she said that there was no one there and blamed it on the kitchen and other staff. So essentially we were lied to. Asking for a full refund on Monday morning and received excuse after excuse. Phoning her and e-mails ignored, it and took several days (of which I had to constantly follow up). Never would I recommend this place as the service and communication is utterly shocking.[ Part 2 ] Hi Foxwood,As I cannot reply to your actual comment, I will respond here.I cancelled due to a family emergency on Sunday, phoned and you said moving it the following week will be no problem (I have e-mail correspondents to prove). When we arrived the following week Sunday, you and your team were nowhere to be found. So, how can I not be entitled to a refund when you said that moving to the following Sunday was no problem? If you could not reschedule, I would have understood.The following Monday that we were let down, I had to follow up with you for a refund. Tuesday I must have called at least 10 times (have records of that) with no answer or responses. E-mails also left unanswered. Wednesday is when you responded and said you would pay me back. I asked for proof of payment and no response.Please do not drag me through the mud when you are in the wrong.

A serene quiet setting. Good for people seeking rest and privacy. There is a beautiful garden for kids to run around. I enjoyed watching the swans and ducks play in the garden. The rooms have a retro feel with contemporary outside showers. Good for hosting writing retreats and small conferences.

Its more of a bush place (beautiful scenery) with biiiig rooms. I really liked that. The staff is so friendly and helpful. The food was okay, but because the place is small they dont do buffet so you kind of order what you want to eat from what they have cooked. This mostly delays your plans. I mean our schedule for the conference we had booked there was delayed by at least 30 minutes whenever we had to eat until we complained. Rooms had dust and 🕷 probably because they last worked in March. But the cleaning staff claimed to clean daily but dust and 🕷 were still there. Swimming pools are dirty... They can do better. But its such a good and cool environment with a vintage style but you do need to bring jerseys though, its cold in there and air cons are not working especially in the rooms. The wifi only works in the conference venue, in the room theres no wifi. So if you go there, bring your wifi router if you really need access to internet. Plus theres limited light outside and they use 🕯am not complaining about this be aware fellows...

Had Christmas lunch here and the ambiance, decor and service was very good. The outdoor scenery is very beautiful and picture perfect. The food wasnt too bad. The price is a bit expense but worthwhile. The owners are friendly and very down to earth.There isnt really catering for kids but in between the serving of food you can go walk along path to see the ducks and swans in the ponds.

This is the best hotel for visiting with friends, family and with colleagues. For work purposes. Its have free access wi-fi, conference rooms, beautiful rooms, apartheid architect and design and pool etc. The foxwood house has good hospitality, nice tasty food, friendly and helpful staff. My three day experience is superB. I feel like a king in the Jungle.

A charming haven of old-world hospitality, with lush, beautiful gardens, a stately old house, and intriguing nooks and crannies everywhere - complete with swans and peacocks. I brought my family here for a delightful concert in the intimate little theatre, and they were all enchanted by the place.

I love the atmosphere of this old place with its very warm and friendly people. I feel 100% safe to stay there on my business trips. A home from home.

Foxwood house is a really amazing guesthouse. The staff are all friendly and accomadating towards guests. The food is also really good and the theatre is beautiful

Immaculate venue.

I stayed at Foxwood, in the Marilyn Oats Suite, for four nights, the room and furniture are rustic. The DSTV connection wasnt great, limited channel subscription. The bathroom was clean. The windows were difficult to open, cobwebs on the walls. I found the garden and pool to be poorly maintained. The hot breakfast option was very limited, only eggs, bacon and tomato on offer. The staff were, however very friendly and helpful. The location was great (close to Killarney mall and Wits Med School) however I would probably pay a little more and stay at a hotel next time.

After a delightful show, we then waited more than 2 hours for lunch. Soup at R70 in a pudding bowl and ice cold! Salad okay, 2 tiny chicken cold chicken pies R90!! Complete chaos and tried to blame the waiters, which was not the case for sure!Shocking management, overpriced, and I wont be back.

Everything was great until we heard the owner, I assume (old white man with a beard), from across the garden screaming heavily at the staff. One of the guests intervened and was told that its none of his business.
