We have stayed here previously, as a matter of fact this is the 5th time. The hotel has lost its focus. There is no attention to detail anymore and the room we stayed in (229) was looking quite shabby. The curtains are for example torn.There is no personal feel or anything welcoming about the room.A smart TV would be nice as the TV channels are limited.

From the moment I exited the elevator from the parking garage, I encountered the artwork which was in keeping with the theme of the hotel, and which I found to be impressive. The staff, which included hotel Management were warm, welcoming and very helpful. My room was well maintained, comfortable and provided the ideal venue for a bit of rest and relaxation, with delicious food to add to the mix. I would definitely recommend the African Pride Hotel to anyone looking to getaway from the hussle and bustle of it all.

Beautiful reception, very well taken care of. The receptionist was welcoming, easy to talk to. Loved the change of scenes and the music that played in the background. Had a chat with one of the chefs. Great individual, absolutely enjoys the work he is doing, making this place a place of choice when it comes to picking a hotel. Loved it.

The hotel was a real mix of excellence and mediocre service. I had originally written a poor review due to the way we were treated by one of the front desk staff. Having been offered a late check out when I called the hotel a week in advance, I was then told that we would have to pay for it because I couldn’t remember the name of the person I spoke to (despite having a record of the call.) On the end, we were not charged and the front desk were apologetic. Other inconsistencies included the service at breakfast. Lightening fast and outstanding one day and incredibly slow the next. The food was excellent. Overall though, the hotel is very nice. The rooms and decor are a little dated but interesting and in keeping with the overall ambiance of the hotel. It is also very well located. It was the perfect place to experience Johannesburg at the end of a wonderful trip to a beautiful, if still broken, country. We will be back.

The menu was delicious and served with care to be signature to the amazing and artistic hotel that is Melrose Arch.Wonderful place, do book accommodation there and experience a wonderfully crafted hotel, home to South Africas largest painted mural.

Check in was a mission but finally got in, security isnt friendly at the door, they do have hand sanitizers at every point of access in the hotel so that is a tick, I found a foreign object in my food, it was a whole mess that evening. So glad I only book one night. For a 5 star hotel, I sisnt receive a 5 star service and experience.

We went to look at the Christmas lights. Was rather busy but also not as busy as previously. Lights are always awesome.

Creative design of the rooms and hotel overall. Sanitizer on every step in the hotel and sanitization wipes in the room. Though inside the room the surfaces are quite dusty. I stayed on 4th floor. Room was with a tiny balcony which is plus, but the access was obstructed by the heavy dusty black out curtain that was fixed on the curtain rail from the side where the balcony door is, so it disables to move the curtain to another side. No fridge/mini bar in the 5* hotel room. As well as no shampoo and conditioner. There are two phones in the room, however only one in the toilet was working. Limited choice for breakfast, half items are not available because of New Year (this excuse was given to me by order taker). The ones that are available dont match the description in the menu. As a result I got an omelet without toast, and avocado on rye without chives and parsley. Mozzarella in my dishes didnt look and taste like mozzarella. Layout on the tray you can evaluate yourself on the picture. Reception staff is friendly and professional.

Great location and the staff are fantastic and adorable. Very friendly without being fake, maybe great actors but you get the feeling youre just interacting with genuinely good people. Rooms are well appointed, nice bath and shower. Dont look too closely as the finish is a bit sub standard, but nothing functional that impacts your stay. The tiling in the bathrooms and seal around your main door could be better.The breakfast is good in a beautiful setting.

Great location in Melrose Arch. Staff are friendly .The rooms are not the traditional rooms that you expect , but thats what the chain are famous for. I would characterize their rooms as funky The room I had was very large by hotel room standard as it had a separate area for seating that included a Sofa and two chairs and also extra desk . The bed was large and comfortable with too many pillow choices There is a flat screen TV ,however not too many choices for channels. Perhaps a smart TV option that would allow Netflix and Amazon Prime options would be better The rooms were clean and followed Covid-19 sanatization protocols. I like the shower with a power rain shower . A bath tub also was available. The room service menu is available by scanning the bar code scanner on the link available in the room. The menu had a choice of various items to choose from , however as vegan I always struggle to find option on the menu. Nevertheless I explained my Vegan restrictions to the Room service order taker and he was kind enough to offer some work arounds. The only negatives. There is only one phone in the room and thats far away from the bed and located on the desk. It would be preferable to have another extension closer to the bed . The control of the lighting is way off to the left side of the bed . Perhaps another set of switches could be located on the right side as well. Although I didnt use the Gym. , I understand there isnt one and there is a Virgin Gym that is close by and entry is chargeable Overall I would not hesitate staying at the African Pride for it location security ,comfortable rooms and great staff

Absolutely high end! The decor is very chic! Rooms are large with wonderful amenities...tubs and showers, balconies, and Marriott comfort! The restaurant serves excellent breakfast choices and delicious dinners. Every staff member is superb! Located in Melrose Arch area where walking is safe and offers many shops and restaurants.Our tour of the city was customized and outstanding!!!Highly recommend! 🇿🇦🇿🇦❤

While staying at the African Pride, I have seen may other North Americans there on business and pleasure. It is the perfect place to stay for both. The store and restaurants in Melrose Arch are fantastic. In just a couple of hours drive, you can do a safari tour. I always felt safe walking around the Melrose Arch.

I cannot speak highly enough of this hotel. It is absolutely fabulous and I look forward to staying there every single time.The staff are really friendly and will go out of their way to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Tania the hotel manager is amazing!The rooms are spotless and so comfortable. After flying for 24 hours, the shower and bath are heaven sent! Do yourself a favor and walk around the hotel to admire all the unique artwork.I like the turn down service and when you come back to your room they have laid out slippers and herbal tea to help you sleep. also definitely try the executive robes.The location is superb with Melrose Arch as you can safely walk to several restaurants and the shopping center.The swimming pool is spectacular especially with the large flower pots/trees.

GREAT EXPERIENCE! We stayed her for two nights and was very satisfied with our selection of this hotel. It was clean, up to date and located in the very safe and secure melrose arch area. The staff was fabulous and exceedingly accommodating. The concierge was kind enough to book a reservation at one of the near by restaurants, Moyo, which was one of the best meals we had during our trip to South Africa! We dined a few of the near by restaurants and all were high quality experience. Highly recommend this hotel to either business or pleasure travels. Safe locations with plenty to do.

The phone was answered within 10 seconds of me calling.The phone mannerism was clear, precise,direct and efficient.When I visited them the security assisted me with parking.Then walking in, the decor was magical with Crystal vases holding fresh Protea flowers .The chairs were soft and extremely comfortable.The service from the front desk is in a class of their own smiling faces and direct eye contact put an additional touch to my experience.Met Chef executive chef Adrian who is professional, approachable. polite , helpful and forthcoming.My experience there as I said previously is in a class of its own.If I could give 10 stars... I would give 20 stars.

Amazing accommodating staff, I met a friend who was staying there, for a drink, lovely ambiance and friendly hotel staff.

This hotel is located in the Melrose Arch area. It is surrounded by wonderful bars and restaurants all within walking distance. Starbucks is a block away (for caffeine addicts like me...lol). Rooms are spacious and quiet. Elevators are quick. Security amble and pleasant. Uber easy to find however you must walk a block or two to get to the pick up locations. Pillows are hard and uncomfortable. Internet sporadic and terrible...only get access to typical websites..unable to get to company Outlook.

Stayed at African Pride for 3 nights. All facilities were lovely. All employees were very friendly and professional. Room had lots of cupboards. Service was exemplary. We enjoyed the quietness of the library bar to relax with our local Jhb. family. Normally I stay at Fire and Ice however was travelling with my husband and we both enjoyed African Pride. Will return.

Our last night in South Africa and an incredibly memorable one. The Melrose Arch site has great stores and restaurants, and the hotel is smack in the middle of everything. This was my first experience with the Autograph Collection, and I was very impressed with the stylish decor, the friendliness of the staff, and the great facilities.

The place was exceptionally clean... reception was very professional and quick. Thanks for the lovely stay. It was a very comfortable stay.

Wow this place is phenomenal, standard rooms come with both a shower and tub. The lighting in the rooms is nicely configured to minimize the beam concentration while sleeping. There spots to cool off on a hot day and a pool.The only downfall for this place is that they wouldnt let me take away my breakfast that I paid for.

Restaurant staff refused point blank to serve us even though we had called ahead confirming times and been there an hour before closing. The man serving us waited for around 15mins before coming to us even though we were the only customers present. He also maintained that the kitchen was closed an hour earlier. Rude staff,terrible service,incompetent waiters. Overall a terrible experience

You know you will get ultimate satisfaction from this hotel the moment you see that the breakfast croissants and pastries are Michelin star quality from the pastry chef. Everything else follows - well appointed rooms kept spotless, turn down service, excellent restaurants, unbelievable breakfast buffet, pool bar or the library bar are your hardest choices. The service from ALL the staff is really excellent. Lastly, you are in the best area of Johannesburg with the highest security and very centrally located. The Melrose Arch location is a much better venue than either Rosebank or Sandton.

I stayed here for a week during a convention. The rooms are great. They have a good breakfast and the location is great with lots of restaurants. I would recommend the property to anyone.

I absolutely loved this hotel before the experience I had😓 I am 13 years old. I came to this hotel for a milkshake about 3 weeks ago and one of the valet parking guys helped me and my dad get the best parking in Melrose right next to the hotel. After our milkshake we gave him a R30 tip. Tonight I was going to get a milkshake again by myself and I recognized him so I said hello do you remember me, and started screaming at me saying that I must go away and never come back again and he was saying that he doesn’t want to remember me and he was giving me the most disgusting look ever. I did not go for my milkshake and I will never EVER be coming to this hotel ever again. 😭😭😭😭

Its a very nice, modern hotel in a very safe area with lots of restaurants. The staff was friendly and helpful. Room was clean and roomy. All in all, Im very happy with my stay.

The service is definitely not 5star. Dinner took 2 hours. Not good breakfast. Fridge is not fill up. Interrupt your privacy. Want to service the room late at night.

Its the funky art that adorns this hotel that first catches your eye but it was the impeccable service that made the best impression.We had a king room which was more then large enough and featured a fantastic large bath perfect after a few weeks out on safari.It was to cold to use the pool but it looked great and just sitting in the sun in the garden area was a peaceful respite from the sprawl and commotion of Johannesburg.Melrose Arch seems like an area on the up with more new venues opening as well which is a bonus.

I have had extended stays four times at the African Pride Melrose Arch. The friendly and professional staff have made me feel at home each time. The rooms and facilities are great and well maintained. The breakfast bar is exceptional.

Drive form airport is a little long but the location is great,. Many good restaurants and shopping in area. Safe at night. Hotel was clean and beds were nice. Check in and out fairly easy. I had a corp card on file that they didn’t take from US, not sure if that was the reason. I haven’t had that issue in US.

Great place to hang out and meet amazing and progressive people. Melrose Arch is a world on its own that makes you forget the noise and politics of the city of Johannesburg. Would recommend a visit for everyone

Its a 5 star hotel with out a Gym. And they charge their guests R350 if they want to go to the Virgin Gym nearby. This should have been complimentary especially I stayed over 10 days in there. Otherwise people are friendly.
