What a lovely casual place to enjoy a meal!The decor is simple but effective, the music is great and at the right volume, the service is friendly & reasonably prompt & the food itself is not only served in generous portions but also reasonably priced & really nice.There are sofas & there are books and the invitation is to linger. I really enjoyed having lunch here. I’d give it 4.5 stars if I could but I’ll give it a generous 4!

The Factory on Grant Car Wash is Great.Restaurants 20m away.Car wash has its own cafe with tables and chairs serving burgers and boeries etc while you wait in sight of your vehicle.

Food was hot and tasty, drinks were on point. Ambience was beautiful. The place is not loud, so youre able to have a decent conversation. There was live music in the evening, tons of fun. Will definitely be visiting the place more regularly.

Very nice view, vibe and atmosphere BUT1. Music more than a million decibels, totally kills your ears, cant even speak to the person across from you.2. Waiters was incredibly helpful, nice and friendly BUT I think I know their own menu better than them. Not a clue as to what is on their own menu, and the loud music doesnt help.Overall lekker, but dont go there if you still want your ears or have a conversation.

3 in 1 restaurant... You can choose to eat in doors at this fine establishment, or sit outdoors in the courtyard whilst being entertained by a live band or head on upstairs to the rooftop and party the night away. Fantastic atmosphere and amazing service with yummy dishes to choose from!

Went for a breakfast at 10am. The waitress (Stacy) was barely there and when we did order our drinks and food, it was about 45 minutes arrival. Our drinks were only brought to us after 30 after that and overall the food took about 2 hours to come and this was after multiple attempts of going into the restaurant (the waitress didnt even come out). Another waitress came to bring us our drinks and when asked where our other waitress was, we were told that she went out...she went out while having a full table to serve?? After two and a half hours, the bill finally arrived with the manager (Prisca). I explained to her about our horrible service and she told me she was sorry and would sort the waitress out. When I asked her what would be done, she laughed at me and said, she knows what she is going to do. I told her I was never coming back and again, she laughed and asked me why. Even after all of this, the food was disgusting and full of oil. Never will I go there again.

Bloody noise and rubbish place. I was waiting to meet a friend and been told to either order now or leave? Sure the manager is rich-digger him/herself because this attitude cant be tolerated. Learn form the Usual on Grant next door (Classy and fancy). Stop bringing those goats you call singers, because they are only loud, noisy and interruption for classy people whom wanted to have a cup to tea while reading a book there.

I like The Factory on Grant for a few reasons. They have quite a good selection of dishes to choose from on the menu, they have a great cake selection and a lovely outside courtyard where they welcome doggies. Some things on the menu are a little pricey but well worth what you pay as the portions are generous. I recommend this place to anyone lookong for a relaxing family orientated restaurant.

Shocking attack on the wallets of patrons. The new owners believe that they have a divine right to charge inflated prices for less than average quantity and quality of food. Whilst sitting at our remote table my partner heard a loudly posed question Is this all I get for R135,00. My observation this restaurant will be out of business sooner than one can count to three. The value for money proposition is clearly not observed but the owners of this establishment. A place to avoid at all costs.

The friendliest staff in Johannesburg. The food is good and the ambiance is warm and accommodating. The upstairs bar has a good vibe and the drinks are well priced.

The food and drinks are just okay with the prices being too expensive for the quality and service you received. Food and drinks took unreasonably long to get delivered and even then items were missing from the order.

This is the second time in two months I have come here. The first time, the avo was not ripe and now the calamari is too salty. Service is slow and the waitrons are always asking for their tip in cash. Definitely not recommended. It’s a pity because this place has potential.

A fantastic little gem in Norwood. We visited on a Sunday evening and sat in the outdoor courtyard.Fires were lit and beautiful live music played, creating a lovely, cosy atmosphere. The food is also delicious and well priced.Would certainly recommend this place.

Really disorganised and unprofessional service. They are also heavily overpriced for very average food. We had a booking for a large group long in advance and they lost our booking several times. The view is nice though, but would definitely not recommend them.

Depends on what you want. Wine menu is very very limited but the view is fantastic and its a rather interesting venue. Be careful of high heels theres some steep stairs to climb. Take someone strong along, the chairs are HEAVY.

The Factory is a place with average quality food, but the atmosphere of the restaurant makes up for it as well as the good service. The rooftop bar is the perfect place to watch the sunset and has an amazing view.

An unfortunate 1st time experience for me this evening. I arrived and was seated by a waitron. After ordering a beer, I waited 15 minutes and no beer arrived. Just before I stood up another waitron asked if I had been served and I mentioned the young lady who assisted. Nothing seemed to get anyone into action to solve the problem. I chose to visit a restaurant across the road. I look forward to your constructive feedback.

Quite nice. Decor is sparce but carefully planned. Food was very nice with decent portion sizes. The mini library in the corner felt like it could be the perfect spot to drop for a coffee.

Had a very bad experience recently. I always enjoyed coming here before, but under new management, my partner and I were constantly hassled and the bill did not reflect the price on the menu. So sad.

I went around, March 2019 and received wonderful service with excellent food, but after going back in February 2020, I can easily say I wont be back. The music was very loud, especially for a Sunday morning, there were hand-written scribbles on the menu, half the menu was out of stock, the service was incredibly slow even though we were one of two tables in the restaurant (as I witnessed the third patron just up and leave, probably because he was waiting for so long), it was very expensive for the amount of food you get, and they brought the wrong order (twice: the first time was a mistake on the order, the second time was a mistake on the side of glass noodles, instead of which we got rice). We also asked specifically if the meal we chose was vegan, and we were told it was, but it came with holloumi cheese (the menu said it came with tofu). As someone who is lactose intolerant, the vegan option is usually the best. Even if I werent lactose intolerant, I do think this is highly disrespectful to patrons no matter what their eating habits. To top it all off, the manager in acting was not a manager, because I heard him saying he did not own the place but it was a friends. He was also uncomfortably pushy, berated staff in front of customers. The acting manager clearly hadnt trained the staff well enough, and I feel for them because I think they got the order wrong because they didnt even have notepads to write the orders down on, and the waitress asked for a cash tip when we presented a card as payment method.

Very cool venue with many different function opportunities and under new management which has opened up the floor to different types of events. Located on grant in Norwood with a few stores and food outlets.

Loud. Music too loud, unattentive service and the waiters are hellbent on scraping the chairs across the ground when they move them, too lazy to lift them up. Pricey menu.

Came in and asked the waitress downstairs if we could go upstairs, and she answered in the affirmative. Went up, sat down for a few minutes, and the barmen came to tell us that (our two) babies are not allowed. Had a few craft beers at R55 each (waitress couldnt tell us beforehand if its lager or not) and an extremely soggy pizza. Beautiful space and design, but thats about it..

Called to make a reservation but when we got there we were not getting any attention..kept trying to get the waiterss attention but none of them were willing to serve us. And the place was not packed.Only the few white people there were getting attention .Never exprerinced such bad service anyway before.DO NOT GO to this place unless you want your whole day to be ruined. Left the place without being even given a chance to order anything.

Hamburger roll was old and stale, very cheap pink tomato sauce was used, burger patty was dry and tasteless. I could not finish my food and left hungry. Wont ever be eating there again. Only reason there are two stars ie because the food looked good when it arrived. Unfortunately it was inedible.

What a disappointment! Im giving it 1 star because theres nothing lower. This used to be my go-to meeting place for all occasions (had my birthday get-togethers there 4 years in a row) but not any more. Since new management took over the atmosphere has changed ... for the worse. The last 3 times I arrived in the afternoon to have coffee with a friend I was heckled and pressured to have more than just coffee. We were presented with food menus, even though I indicated at the door that we were just going to have coffee and then, each time, another waitron arrived with more menus to ask us if wed ordered any food. If this had happened only once it could have been just oversight but since it happened each time one has to assume its restaurant policy. On arrival outside the door in the street we were accosted by an over eager employee asking us if we were joining them that day. Once inside we were shepherded to a table not of our choice even though the place was almost completely empty. But what happened on my last visit was the last straw. We ordered two ordinary cappucinos which were R26 on the menu but were charged R28 on the bill. When we queried the difference in price the waitron said we had ordered double cappucinos which were not even listed on their menu. When I asked to see the manager he was not very interested in my complaint and when asked about his menu told me that he didnt know what was on the menu and offered to discount my bill instead of appologising for it being incorrect! No wonder the place is always empty! Needless to say Im finding another go-to meeting place in Norwood.

The renovation brings with it an element of old world charm combined with modern architectural design.The ceilings are vaulted with glass paneled A-framed roof trussess, which allows for natural light and lovely views into tree canopies and skies above.Relaxing atmosphere on bustling Grant Avenue, fair pricing and good food.There is secure off street parking as well as a courtyard for meals as well.

I bought a voucher on Hyperli for a meat platter for four people and they could only serve me a platter for 2 people because they are making a loss on this voucher!!!Never Ever Coming back Again!!!

Being the only people in the restaurant on a Saturday at lunch time was a warning sign. Waiting an hour for two toasted sandwiches was fun... We had to ask for them to be put in take away it took so long only to send them back to be retoasted on arrival . Our meal was grossly overpriced for the slapdash meal I would expect from a school tuckshop to say the least.Im not angry .... Just disappointed. (Disappointed parent voice)

Arrived to a not too busy restaurant, with hopes of a yummy breakfast. Ended up with a bad taste in our mouths. Slow service , they didnt order one of our breakfasts and poor communication in letting us know until we sat waiting for 10mins after other meals had arrived. Meals were dissappointing.

Was there now. Waitress was at all times during my visit with her back to the clients chatting to the Barista. Cant get her attention despite only 4 tables occupied. Asked for strong flat white. Coffee arrived too hot to drink and tasted burnt with little depth to the coffee. Couldnt drink it. New coffee was made but this time a very weak cappuccino. Requested a strong flat white as initially ordered. The barista was mopping the floor at this time and squeezed the mop then continued to make my coffee. I asked if she washed her hands as i did not see that being done and she said she had. Its possible I may have missed it. 3rd attempt was a very average coffee. Breakfast was very good with eggs made exactly as we ordered them. Nice atmosphere. May be back for a meal but certainly not for the coffee.

I get the sense that the owners tried to copy 54 on Stanley Road with little coffee shops and interesting sites that sell unique stuff like clothes and even a glass blowing store.

I was there on an evening where they had invited a band, which may be unusual. Never the less, the experience was bad.The service was extremely slow (severely understaffed given the large crowd), and the burger I had was served on stale and cold bread. The staff were very friendly though and the vibe of the restaurant is great, so I really hope this was just a case of being too busy on the night.

We had a very good waiter but the food was very arb.

Bit pricey (where isnt) but the food and coffee are very good. If you have a walker/wheelchair its not so easy to get there.
