The acoustics are amazing. The sound from the stage was audible without the need of mics. The spaces and the ambience where calm and soothing. The auditorium hosts a middle section, two sides and the balcony sitting sections. There are rest rooms. The venue is quite large to host a large number of people. It has multiple entrance/exits. The stage is well spread out. An appealing dark brown wood like theme can be found in the auditorium with comfortable seats and enough space for people to pass by while you seat.

Today was the final performance of the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestras spring season. It was a wonderful way to end the week and start Dezemba. While Im not acquainted with the song listing, what I heard was the beautiful expression of disciplined collaboration.Im sorry to have missed the rehearsal session at the start of the season, where they played from the Porgy and Bess songbook. Jazz is more my flavour but, its always good to throw a taste-breaker into the mix.A more diverse audience would be great for the music, so I hope to see the JPO crossover to other canons of music.Lovely auditorium. Great sound.Im getting ready for the summer season 👏🏾.

Very good setting for a graduation ceremony. I would however suggest to people not fimilar with the venue to request centre stage seating because people are usually seated to the left or right if the stage and the angel is not allowing guests to see graduates when graduates are seated

Greatness has been left on that stage. The area is beautiful, the theater is accessible and the place is always clean. Great standard has been set by Linder.

A local legend of great live music, mostly classical. Expect to see local and international stars, especially our top conductors and soloists. The acoustics are good and the theatre space is warm, if a bit 80s. Some seats on the side are a bit cramped but not too bad.Its a good night out and parking is not to bad. The coffee shop usially serves wine and coffee, but also and cakes and other foods at interval.

This is a lovely hall and a good size for both symphony orchestras and concert-goers. It has a bar and ample lobby space for people to mingle. One of the only negatives, is that the roof leaks during excessive rain. Thankfully this didn’t affect the concerts I attended, as it wasn’t a sold out performance, so we were able to move seats.

The acoustics in this place are amazing. There are different exists which are great in case of emergency or if the auditorium has a lot of people and theyre all exiting at the same time.. it can host a graduation and a school talent show. Which you book and pay for.

An excellent venue for concerts and performances. But its best not to book seats on the raised wings on either side as the view of the stage extreme on the side one is sitting is obscured.

Pe
Review №24

Great venue for music lovers. Acoustics and sight lines are good. Provision is made for those who are in wheelchairs. Anyone with knee problems should rather book seats downstairs, theres rather generous legroom there. Upstairs in either of the side wings, you have rather cramped legroom.

Review №25

Good acoustics and good visibility from just about everywhere - except the very front row, perhaps. A really nice venue for the Joburg Philharmonic concerts. But the bar area is more like a canteen than a theatre bar and the queue to pay, the queue to trade in your voucher for a drink is daft. The queue to drive out is also slow on busy nights, with every car having to stop at boom gates. So a nice venue marred by the admin.

Lovely venue with comfortable seats. The aircon needs cleaning (visible mold dust by ceiling outlets). Enough parking if youre prepared to walk a bit.

Ma

Really dated infrastructure, poor process and the cafeteria sells premium drinks at paypoints which the bar has no stock of. Traffic getting in and out is also a pain. Best avoid.

Ru
Review №28

My main reason for giving 4 stars and not 5 is that there is no lift available. The seats are comfortable, and there is sufficient leg room (where I was sitting, anyway).

Wa

One of the few venues where you can experience a full orchestra and excellent choir. The last time I was there, the mens toilets were being renovated and the stand-in toilets were dirty and riddled with graffiti.

Lovely old venue, not very modern but acoustics were excellent. Seating is a bit old but still comfortable with plenty of legroom in the main section of the venue. Does have a restaurant attached but we did not try it. There is also a coffee shop and seating for intervals. Google Maps takes you to the wrong side of the campus so beware. Entrance is through the WITS gate (old JCE gate). Parking is dark so if you struggle to see where you are going in the dark take a torch the parking area is a bit uneven.
