A real Gem! Antique setting with very friendly service. Brisket and wings were delicious. All the wings needed was a sauce, and the pulled brisket and cheese burger was a tad bit dry. Everything else was superb.

Welcoming and staff was Proffessional..management caring and dedicated to the safety and well being of their customers..

What a different restaurant! The food is totally amazing and only the best ingredients are used.I had a Red Smoothie (Beet, berry, ginger and yoghurt) and the beef burger and it was awesome! Staff are very helpful.I would definitely recommend The Countess.There is a lot of parking below the 27 boxes centre.

What a gorgeous little place.. Love the decor. Popped in for a quick drink, service was very slow probably need to have a waiter stationed on the top floor. No vegan options but they do have a few vegetarian dishes.

Incredible place! The waitress and manager were fantastic! I booked before hand and it was seamless. Loooooved the food and drinks as well as the ice cream. Decor is phenomenal! Definitely coming back!

Super chic, love the decor and the food was great! Lovely place to go for a quiet intimate dinner or to meet up with friends. The hostess was friendly and although our waitress was a little intense with her excitement, we had a lovely dinner.My only wish would be that they stayed open a little later. Closing at 9PM during the week just seems like a shame.Will definitely be going back soon!!

Great service , great vibe ,great food. The owner is super cool , and friendly and often chats to his customers. The food is so unusual and the decor is what gives the place its unique vibe. Definitely a place I will return to often.

I had a fantastic experience at The Countess. From the minute we walked in till the time we left, we were treated like royalty. The service was great; we had a lovely young waitress who was polite, helpful and professional. The food was excellent. When I initially looked at the menu, I was concerned as there was not a large variety, but this actually worked in their favour. What was offered was made very well, and it made choosing what to eat much easier too. The decor and atmosphere worked well together, and it didnt feel overdone or overwhelming. I will definitely recommend The Countess to family, friends and colleagues! Keep up the great work!PS: nice touch with the blankets. My legs were grateful to be covered and warm!

Missing ingredients meant a partial menu..partial dining experience. Items not available were from the wine to the deserts. Potentially a 5 star venue. Try the weekends to enjoy a full menu.

This place has some of the best burgers in Johannesburg - I kid you not. If youre into sweet things they also have a side dish of yams with melted marshmallows on it that is so yum. Ambience and decor is beautiful too. Definitely a favourite.

The restaurant is obviosly steampunk themed with clever attention to detail. Since I wanted to nibble on something I ordered a croissant which is honestly the best croissant Ive ever had, no jokes. I had the Countess Burger with its lovely BBQ aïoli. I want the recipe. With the burgers you get to choose your own side. I had hand cut fries but next time Im trying the deep fried pickles. The food is well garnished. Instead of something alcoholic I opted for a cool cucumber made with cucumber, apple and lime juice. It is very rare that I will have seconds of a drink but this drink was tangy and refreshing and so I couldnt ressist. Service from waiters was fab, I couldnt ask for more.

Very nice outside setting on a spring evening, Mac and cheese was delicious, would visit again.

Delicious food. Everything I tasted was to die for. And everybody else at the table agreed. We ordered every burger on the menu and the panini, we also had the deep fried pickles, onion rings and chips. All Devine.The service was great. Attentive but not annoying.The atmosphere was relaxed and refreshing. The restaurant is impeccably decorated. Right down to the sugar bowls.You will not be dissapointed if you decide to eat here!

The food was made from scratch giving every morsel a unique taste nothing was synthetic and the kids were free to explore. Loved the ambience too.

I was invited there with a work function. The decor is pretty unique, I must say. As for the food, honestly speaking, it was literally out of this world! I cant stop talking about their chicken strips which was the most tender and juiciest I ever had in my life. Even their sliders look very deceiving. They may look small, but believe not many people can handle more than one . Everything else in terms of overall customer experience, service etc gets the highest recommendation from me. If you dont try them at least once you will miss out, believe me..

An experience thats incomparable. From the vintage look and feel, friendly stuff and delicious food, theres nothing I can really fault them on. I cannot wait to try out more of the menu, had the best pork ribs in a while.

This is probably my favourite restaurant in Melville. Not just is the food delicious, I recommend the lasagna, Mac and cheese and ribs, but the service is great. Management is friendly and attentive and the atmosphere is relaxing. And last the serve a wide range of drinks again I recommend the loxtonia cider, it is a proudly South African cider and absolutely delicious. :)

The Head waitress is by FAR the BEST waitress we have ever served us! 5⛥ for her! ! I enjoyed my chili burger a lot! However, my husband didnt enjoy the ribs that much. Theres a great ambiance! Will definitely visit again.

The food was delicious and well-prepared. The staff members were amazing, until their boss put them under pressure and they became nervous and pushy. Minus the boss (an older lady) the atmosphere and service was good and couldve been excellent.

Food absolutely amazing! We had starter plank, everything was great. Mains burger( one if the best Ive had), rib eye was melt in the mouth. Only 4 stars, chairs go with decor but extremely uncomfortable. The warmer upstairs was fully booked for a function, sat downstairs with open shopfront to deck...quite chilly,the food got cold quickly as well. The creme caramel described as not too sweet...was deathly sweet.

Been there twice now and both times I was absolutely blown away by the quality of the service, the decor and the food itself.The first time I had the rib eye, wow. The second time I had the rib eye panini, which I wasnt too confident about, but it absolutely 100% works: fresh bread, amazing meat, mushrooms, and on-point seasoning. Plus, local craft beer Mad Giant on tap which pairs perfectly with any meat.Thank you Countess, a big recommend from me for an amazing dining experience.

Went there based on overall rating and to be quite honest I was not impressed with the burger I ordered - had ordered the chilli burger - loved the zing but the patty had a very overpowering after taste to it. Unfortunately I couldnt proceed after one bite and the owner was nice enough to suggest something else to eat. The ribs were mind blowing, couldnt get enough.. Side salad, refreshing as always. Their salad dressing is amazing.Pity the owner cant take negative criticism :)

Lovely quaint spot

The decor of this restaurant was very unique and true to the style of the place. I highly recommend you go check it out. Its situated on a vibrant street with lots of other restaurants and art galleries that you can check out if youre not a fan but I personally like it😊.

Great atmosphere. Lovely food - variety of options and all the dishes were great (ribs, nachos - especially good, brisket - very nice, but would be nice if it came as a big piece on the bone). Decent variety of craft beers and the Vietnamese coffee is a treat! Very good service especially last trip (22 January 2019). All round excellent and highly recommended. Steampunk-style decor a hit as well!

Awesome atmosphere and staff. Nice selection of beers and wines and our food was just amazing with such big portions! If you are hungry the burger is a must. If they had a cocktail menu I would have definitely given them the perfect 5 stars.

I went to The Countess when it first opened. I was still going a year later when we left the Boxes. A bunch of us went today, almost 2 years later and just wow! The food is even better than then! It is Sunday and the centre is quiet so a chilled day.Two thumbs up!

Beer battered fish is a must! The burgers as well. Overpriced however and horrible generic elevator music playing.

Great Nosh. Excellent service from Ezra. Loved the plank platter of starters. Highly recommend the Mac and Cheese side. Fried chips are crazy good. Picalli, carrot and celery pickles are excellent. Brisket needed a slightly heavier smoke. Would recommend.

The food was amazing and the staff is amazing however, while enjoying our meal we where robbed on the patio. Our phones where stolen off our table while we where eating.Although I dont blame the restaurant for what happened I do think a call from the owner would have been nice. And even though we where asked for our details it is now a week on and we have heard nothing from them.According to bystanders this is not the first time this happened , so I would also recommend that boards get put up and that the staff tell people thats sitting outside may come with some risk.So the overall experience was not good and what makes it worse is that the management / owner does not seem to care to much that there customers are being robbed in their establishment.

Such a great experience. I loved the music - very old skool swing, wasnt too loud either! Our waitress was a star. She didnt serve us, she looked after us - really good service. I would highly recommend their starter planks (choose 3 starters + 2 pickles). Absolutely delicious. Will definitely be planning a return visit 👍👍👍👍

I gave them a funny order that wasnt on the menu and they absolutely nailed it perfectly. The manager is kind and came to check on us personally. Most definitely one of my favourite places now.

Service took ages. ExpensiveFood was pretentious with too many flavours. Almost like a Graphic Designer trying to pass off as Picasso. My meat was burnt. Onion rings were too doughy. To boot nearly all of us got sick afterwards. After not an enjoyable meal a 15% tip was added to the bill which I found preposterous. I was informed it was a big party so there was a surcharge. Will not see me again. 1 Star for furnishing.

After few days on holidays in the country, we went to eat to the Countness for our lasts days.The landlady is very cool, she speaks French too, she is close to the people, very kind. The food is delicious, fresh food, fresh orange jus. she offered up to me an orange jus cause we waited for few minutes our lunch. So kind !🔝🇿🇦

Burgers definitely among the best in Joburg, and thats saying something! Probably the most generous Ive had too in terms of quality and portion. Really enjoyed the option with chili aoili and cheddar cheese - delicious!Interior cosy and distinct, with the wow-factor of being constructed out of containers alongside a very tasteful steampunk-inspired aesthetic.Staff all friendly and helpful.Definitely recommended for some comforting, juicy burgers and a shake if your appetite allows!

Great atmosphere, service makes you feel like you are part of the family. Of the starters we tasted the chicken liver parfait is great, but the mac n cheese was sub standard and bland and the chocolate cake had butter icing not ganache as advertised. A good night all and all
