Brilliant restaurant with a vibey look and feel.Great selection of Mexican and none Mexican food items avaliable. Catering for all taste buds and needs, even a small kiddies section to keep the little rug rats happy.Well stocked bar and friendly staff round off this little gem in Jbay. Went to visit twice this past weekend and was super happy, definitely can recommend the Nachos as a brilliant snack.Will definitely be back and recommend it to anyone thats in and around Jbay.

5/5 Generous flavourful portions if you want a great Mexican meal experience in JBay.Decided to go to The Mexican restaurant while in JBay and must say it was a delightful experience. Normally the other Mexican franchise restaurants give portions that leave one feeling still hungry - well not here.We ordered 52 Bombers (aka Jalapeño Poppers) for starters, then for mains we planned to share a portion of Tacos (4 on a plate), Nachos (full portion) and a Quesidilla.It was ALL flavourful and so generous in size we couldnt finish it all.Waitress was also great and made great recommendations. Definitely a place to visit again!

Hands down the best chilli poppers I have ever had! Ask for the Cheese and Bacon option...to die for. Staff and owner were super friendly and we felt incredibly welcome and at home.

Amazing food and incredible cocktails! 🍸 They serve tequila with a twist that took me completely by surprise and were extremely friendly, even offering to put together a cocktail that wasnt on their menu and pulling it off expertly. This will definitely be a regular stop on future trips.

Had a great evening at The Mexican in JBay. Barman makes killer cocktails and is the friendliest in town! Owners Michelle and Jason are wonderful hosts.Jalepino poppers are divine and so are the locally sourced calamari. Well worth a visit.

We ordered Tacos which were absolutely horrible. There was hardly any filling in the tacos and the little filling that was available had an awful taste. The food also took very long >45 minutes of waiting for food. Would not recommend

We visited the restaurant on the 30 December 2018. Except for the fact that I have a walking difficulty because and had to use the stairs to get up to the restaurant, the atmosphere was very nice. The spot where we were seated inside, near the bar, was just a bit hot. No wind or draft until the barman brought us a Fan. We love hot and spicy food so the food was excellent and the prices are fare.

Stunning atmosphere. Staff brilliant. The kids had a ball and me and mum a great time. The food was way way above average!!

The Mexican delivers great food thats well seasoned. There is great variety which makes choosing what to eat difficult. They also have a wide cocktail menu and offer jugs of margaritas.

Not Mexican food. It’s sad if any locals think that’s what a taco or any other dish that’s “mexican” is actually like.

A really bad experience. Poor quality food (uncooked). Lack of interest shown by managers. Waitress, who carried the brunt of the poor service, stated I only serve the food!The second attempt at good service was just as poor- the mince still seeped liquid into the bottom of the plate, but this time the cheese was melted. Highlight of the night was the flying fish served cold. NEVER AGAIN!!!

How can they call this place Mexican? No seriously I don’t understand. The enchiladas were made of tomato mince and had no cheese or enchilada sauce. There was no salsa or hot sauce in sight. The tacos were no better with their heaps of overwhelming mayo coleslaw. Sad attempt at best.

Terribly slow service. Food order was incorrect. Had to walk inside and ask for cutlery, salt and had to ask numerous times for a bottle of water which was ordered as we arrived. Ordered 2 cokes which never arrived.

One of the places that you should not drive past. Food and drink will not disappoint you. Service excellent. I will always come back for more

I loved the decor of the restaurant and was friendly greeted by a woman at the door. But our main purpose for going to the restaurant was to eat and I was so disappointed when the food arrived. I paid R145 for my pizza and it was very small for the price. It was also cold when it arrived and was hard (way to crispy). And the wine glass could have been fuller. I dont know if we only had bad luck , but we didnt have the best experience.

Best Nachos in the Eastern Cape!

The atmosphere is great. Mexican vibes with a clean modern aesthetic. The jars drinks are a little lite on the alcohol for what you pay. But the wait staff are really friendly and the bar tenders are pretty friendly. Overall a 3 for anyone looking to have fun.

Great cocktails, great atmosphere, great service from genuinely lovely people. The vibe was perfect. The bar has sea views and the owners are cool enough to let a customers dog come in, hang out and make friends. Really laid back and fun place to spend some time. Highly recommendable.

Cool vibe, very much an institution of Jbay party scene. Which is evident when the surfing comps hit the town. Mostly a Mexican food restaurant and the food is good, typical generic Mexican food menu. Great hosts and are very entertaining.

The owner of this restaurant truly amazes me. She has managed to keep this restaurant going for years and makes it better day by day. I would recommend the nachos they are amazing and for the more adventurous eaters out there definitely the jalapeno poppers - I can honestly say they are the best in town, I have tried them all - and Mexican isnt a bad place to have a drink with friends either the bartenders make some mean jam jars.

Met up with a friend here. The place wasnt too busy. Had very good Nachos and Buffalo Wings. Cant comment on the Main meals though. The cocktail menu has some interesting additions, which I would come back for. Waiters were quick and friendly. Thumbs up from me.
