Have just spent 2 days at 11 Karkloof. Such a brilliant spot to stay, literally everything you need on your doorstep. The brilliant Bluebird coffee shop, 2 delicious restaurants, a bakery and very cool decor type shop. Very pet friendly and such a treat to have dogs running around.Howick is just 7 min away by car too.The accommodation is basic but has all you need. The kitchen has a fridge/freezer, microwave, stove and kettle. Cutlery and crockery, pots and pans. Towels are provided. All linen too. Beds very comfortable. Will be coming here often!!

Love the old farmhouse vibe! The place is very large, ideal for an extended family getaway or a gathering of friends. The spot is really nice, particularly at sunrise! The staff are accommodating and friendly, the bedding is perfectly clean and Home Slice Café is just a stroll away. Ill be back

We stayed here for 3 weeks and we couldnt ask for a better experience. Everyone around are super nice and warm. Helped us with different questions and requests. Cottages are well organized. From the farm, you can walk around nature, see monkeys, hike to the waterfalls and more. The cafe and bakery offer great breakfasts and lunch. The Spot Bistro owned by Victoria serves perfect pizza and always welcome you.The Blue Bird roastery offers premium and perfect coffee with professional barista in site...Perfect. Check it out. A different experience to the traditional farms of the Midlands.

My first visit was for a work end of year function back in the day when these still were held. Since then things have changed a bit, no wait, huge changes! The whole family is catered for from coffee to pizzas, crosscut gym, art gallery and coffee roasters. I visited the Crossfit gym Activ8 fir a regen stretching session, wow wow wow worth every cent, I could have curled up on the mat and had a snooze afterwards. The plus was a cappuccino before, amazing start to the weekend. The Old Mushroom Farm @ 11 Karkloof is a must on your visit to the KZN Midlands.

A wonderful stay in cottage number 5.The little cottage was roomier than it first seemed. Perfectly kitted out with kitchen/ lounge, & braai facilities on the little stoep. There is even a fire place for cozy days.Love the location- on the same property as The Old Mushroom Farm, so we had lots to explore. We could even eat out when we felt lazy to cook. Awesome coffee from Bluebird Coffee Roastery, and fresh bread from Doughm bakery. There is also tons to do in the area- great cycling routes, stunning hikes, & swimming spots.

No tea, coffee, milk or even coffee creamer supplied. Dirty floors as well as furniture and carpet in living space. Had to go and ask for bath towels. Skimpy curtains. Most windows cant close properly.Beautiful scenery surrounding the rooms, though. Beds are comfortable. Spacious living areaI guess for the price it is okay, but one could at least expect that it is clean

The new site for the Farmers Market is very scenic and there is an extensive parking area. This being the first day of trading there are understandably a number of teething issues which hopefully will be addressed in time. The most salient of these in my opinion are:- a large sign board at the intersection with the Karkloof road obstructs the view of oncoming traffic from the right thereby creating a hazard- lighting in the shed is very poor, making for a gloomy experience- the interior of the shed ( the original structure has been relocated) was very noisy, making conversation difficult- the absence of a quiet space to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee.- parking bays are too narrowThe Karkloof market has established itself as an institution in Howick and the new venue should settle into a happy and comfortable operation.

We stayed here for 5 days as part of a large family reunion. Cottages were well equiped, clean and very affordable. There is a lot to do and see in the area. 11 Karkloof makes for a great base whilst exploring the biking and hiking trails, falls, canopy tours nearby with a shopping centre close at hand and the beautiful midlands meander 15 minutes away.
