Fabulous does not begin to describe this wonderful resort. It may look a little primitive, but there is nothing primitive about the hospitality, food, the game drives and the lodging/rooms. I would go back again. In fact they had several repeat guests there during my 3 night stay. Do yourself a favor and go!

We thoroughaly enjoyed our stay at Umlani. The staff were incredible and made us feel so welcome and comfortable. Umlani is truly a special place that gives you the experience of really being in the bush and enjoying it, it was such a thrill. Our game driver Elvis and Tracker Efraam were beyond amazing! They were so good at tracking the animals and giving us an unforgettable experience, on the first day we saw a leopard and manged to see the big 5 and more. The special ladies in the kitchen, Susan and Lineth were so amazing and the food was great! Thank you to all the staff who made everything so special for our engagement and keeping it a secret so well. A must is the tree house and bushwalk experience. Thanks again to Marco, Michaela, Andrea, Susan, Lineth, Elvis and Efraam and to all the staff behind the scenes that we didnt meet. We will definitely be back :)

We went with a group of friends to Umlani, the place of rest. Surrounded by nature, wild animals and in the heart of the bush, it was the perfect retreat from city life. We saw all of the big five thanks to our friendly (and tolerant!) guides Greg and Ephram, and were spoiled by the camps staff who went out of their way to make sure we were happy at all times.I highly recommend Umlani if you are looking for a truly special bush experience!

Very beautiful location, we felt warmly welcomed by the friendly staff. Our bush guide Amos and spotter Andrew gave us a very informative and personal experience with the wildlife, we managed to see as much as we hoped and more. We couldn’t of asked for a better safari experience, we would highly recommend Umlani Bushcamp as long as you leave room for us to come back :)

Really great bushcamp with fantastic food and awesome safari! Do not miss out to book the treehouse by the water hole. You will not sleep much but it will be well worth it!And a little background to easier understand my point of view when reading my review. I work as a travel and adventure photographer and travel about 6 months every year. I have visited over 75 countries and appreciate real people, real places and real adventures.

My family and have visited Umlani a few times over the past 20 years and our love for it only grows. Umlani Bush Camp always keeps it integrity, maintaining this beautiful balance between style and a great sense of place. The satisfaction in the food and staff and the beautiful table settings is a great background for the perfect days in the Bushveld. I am always impressed with the knowledge and sensitivity of their guides. This year our guide was Jordan and he blew us away with how he enlightened our understanding with knowledge from the ecosystem, conservation practices, animal behaviour and so much more. Shaddy has been there for years and years and knows every plant and its medicinal use like an old friend. Umlani, we love you please dont ever change!

We stayed at Umlani for 4 nights. It was a truly wonderful experience, from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. We saw and learned about tigers, lions, leopards, hyenas, elephants, rhinos, impala and myriad of bird and even insects. The depth of knowledge of the trackers and rangers was extraordinary, and their enthusiasm and passion for the bush infectious. We were constantly amazed at the teams ability to show us everything we had hoped to see. Our many questions were always answered clearly and in great detail. On the final day, our ranger, Shadrick, and tracker, Iffram, tracked and found two male lions pursuing a leopard; it was an absolutely unforgettable experience. Before the trip, I was concerned that the interaction with the wildlife would be commercial or sanitised. However, this was not the case. The team were very respectful of the animals and we felt mostly unnoticed when seeing them.On a bush walk our ranger, Shadrick, introduced us to the local fauna, explaining their medicinal uses and introduced our nostrils to a whole new variety of aromas! This is a very remote camp in an already remote region, nonetheless the food was very good and bountiful. The homemade bread was delicious! The accommodation is rustic but very comfortable. The beds were good and fully enclosed by mosquito nets. The camps location really adds to the experience with nothing but the sound of nature to hear and brilliant star-filled night skies. We used the tree house one night, leaving at 8pm after dinner and being picked up around 6am. Being an overnight, animals are hard to spot but some can be seen and we awoke to a few hyenas! The treehouse has mosquito nets meaning you can see the stars from your bed.

Beautiful traditional lodge with incredibly nice staff. The camp has been a family business for decades and you can tell with how much passion and love the company is run. The game drives were sensational, I was even able to spend one night in a beautiful tree house in the middle of the bush next to a water hole and thus watch the animals at night. The food was also sensational. I wholeheartedly recommend the Umlani Bushcamp!

On our trip through South Africa we spent four nights at Umlani and that was an experience we will never forget. The cabins are fantastic and you practically sleep outside, you shower under the sun or the starry sky. Two game drives on a day with very expert guides. We were just in the middle of a nature film! Lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos and even hunting wild dogs. And everything at a meter distance. Unimaginable. We even had a herd of elephants under the balustrade where we had lunch. The food is also excellent and we are very spoiled! The night in the tree house near the camp was unforgettable: listening to the howling of the hyenas and the growling of the lions under the starry sky. What a special place. They have limited electricity and only Wi-Fi via satellite in the afternoon. I can assure you that it is wonderfully relaxing, even with two teenagers there (who did not complain about that: there was so much to experience with all those animals). 6 stars!
