Definitely a place to visit! The reserve is huge and teeming with game. Roads are well maintained and you dont have to go in an off-road vehicle. The restaurant was good too

A day well spent with family and friends, however we did not drive through the whole reserve as we just went for the day. I suggest staying over if you live far. If you going for a day visit please arrive early. Price is R120 for adults and R60 for kids. I have added some pics of animals we spotted on our drive

Excellent experience as usual. The evening game drive is inexpensive and created many memories. Our guide was Phumuwako and he entertained and informed us all the way. Somehow he was able to spot a chameleon on a branch. An animal we hadnt seen for years. We came close to elephant and an owl.Our day drive was a thrill too. We watched a herd of elephants come out of the bush and swim across the river towards us. Actually its hard to say any of the experiences were better than others. Each is unique. When you stay in the chalets you get a free breakfast buffet and decent shower facilities. The staff are super. This place is always a treat.

🏞️ 🐘 🦏 🦁 A typically self driving on - a - day trip reserve, it´s not so busy like the bigger reserves but it´s worth the effort. Perhaps in combination with iSimangaliso-Wetland-Park (St. Lucia). I accompanied the Grade 7 of Treverton Prep on annual their Zululand tour. We did it on our small busses , aprox. 3 hs on partly rough gravel roads. We luckily saw rhinos, a rhino mum and her cute, elephants, buffalos and other game. Underway a rest on a nice location and finally everybody was satisfied. .

Beautiful park in the hills north of Hluhluwe. You can find many animals including the big 5 but especially see many rhinos. Big negative point: it is impossible to have a map as far as indications or signs are concerned, they are rare or even non-existent. So be patient if you are mistaken in taking advantage of the setting.

One of the oldest Game reserve in South Africa, youll find most of the wild animals roaming freely, like buffalos, zebras, elephants, nyala different species of antilopes, rhinos... The reserve is strict which is good because there has been cases of poaching inside so expect to be search and make sure you carry an identification with you. There are people who have encountered lions while on safari there which is a big luck if you happen to see them they are hardly on the road.

Absolutely unforgettable experience. The half day drive was worth it. Got to see Rhinos, Impalas, Giraffe, Wilderbeast, Elephants and more. Sadly couldnt spot a Lion that day. The full day package might be too exhausting for some. Remember to carry jackets as it can get cold and even though they provide blankets, it may not be enough. They give a good breakfast and also have facilities for pickup and drop from your hotel including St Lucia.

If you are visiting St Lucia area of Kwazulu Natal it is worth a visit to this game reseve. The rhinos are plentiful and lots of buffalo , giraffe and field game. The cats are scarce . Hilltop camp a good 3 star option.

# Internet published tel nr not working .. answered as invalid nr.# numbered waypoints / posts grossly neglected ... incomplete, overgrown by vegetation, wrongly numbered i.e. not corresponding with map, partly non-existant at intersections, just left to the elements for the past 30 years .. it seems.# some of the roads need more frequent care especially in rainy season. Normal sedans should be kept OUT of the park as they will just get stuck or break or cause an obstruction# some of the toilets at picnic and lookout points are a hygiene disaster and asking for infections 10 x worse than covid ... absolutely terrible ... SHAME on the responsible management !!!# the map and / or gate receipt needs to clearly reflect an emergency tel number# during 2 days of intensive navigating the park, mainly Hluhluwe we came across NOT ONE park official doing some patrolling.# vegitation alongside some of the roads is growing so uncontrolled into the pathway of a single file vehicle, that driving without scratching the vehicle becomes impossible, needless to expect a vehicle to pass from the front.# the general abundance of game of 10 years ago appears to have receded alarmingly.# a VERY SAD picture overall which portrays a clear sign of NO CARE NEGLECT and unless drastically turned around, the end of Africas oldest game reserve (since 1895)...........The only consolation is the diverse landscape and abundant bird life.............The rest is an embarrassment towards international visitors ... but who cares .. they are kept out of our beautiful country altogether ... so for us locals we get the message of take it or leave it😪😪😪

By far my favourite game Park in south Africa so far. Staff knows you by name, remembers you every year you come back. Really feels like home. Great for viewing big game. Also great for lion viewing. Open camps so try not stay out too late or you might have to deal with the hyenas in your back yard (speaking from experience)

Game Reserve managed by Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife. Game was visible on the day we visited, although it was difficult to see, probably due to the hot weather on the day we visited. Rhino, giraffe, buffalo, wildebeest, warthog and various species of antelope were seen. Lovely picnic spots and hides were available. Well worth the visit and only a few hours from Durban.

We really enjoyed our time in this park and Game Reserve and were absolutely pleasantly surprised. The staff at the gate were very friendly and helpful and the process of checking through and getting information was effortless. The park is one of the most beautiful and stunning places/parks in South Africa 🇿🇦 in our book, and we managed to see quite a few of the game, including buffalo, elephant, rhino, lots of different buck and antelope and also the zebra and giraffes 🦒 which we always enjoy. We entered via the North gate and out via the East gate so in the end a little rushed through the last part of the reserve and also not enough time to stop at the restaurant near the gate. We only got into the park mid morning from Nibela Lodge and also had to get back there, so I would suggest getting there early to be able to see and do everything. Well done national parks keep it up.

Very nice park, easy to find your way with the map. The park is open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. We were lucky enough to see a lion and lionesses, but there are many more rhinos, elephants and buffalos. Animals are more easily seen at sunrise and sunset. Possibility to book on site an outing with a guide in the safari car.
