Simply an excellent bookstore. Whenever I am in Port Elizabeth, I like to browse through Fogartys Africana and history collection. It not only consists of the best-known books, but also of collectors items and unusual titles. Both English- and Afrikaans-readers will find something they love on the shelves. Some of my finest books about South Africa come straightly from Fogartys.In addition, I have always found the staff to be very helpful and knowledgeable.

The staff is snooty and basically rude and condescending. The store lacks much of a selection and many items lack a price marking - which tells me the prices are a sliding scale based on what they think you can pay . You can find a better selection and deals just three stores down at the other book shop. Oh, and the staff at that other store is far more friendly and helpful.
