My go-to for my household supplies and groceries. They are well stocked and they generally have enough tills open. Do keep in mind if you go on a busy day (Saturday mornings for example) you will wait however I dont think it is unreasonable.The team are also nice, there have been one or two instances where you can see the teller is having an off day but dont we all? More often than not they are lovely and friendly.

Was there today.... Well stocked shop, but the service at the tills...no eye contact and unfriendly. At one till there was 3 ladies having a nice chat, ignoring us totally.

Staff at tills not friendly at all and always not in a hurry.I bought 5 items and went to the fast till (10 items ot less). To my surprise the other tills went quicker.The staff lady at the till even said something bad to the lady behind me but luckily the lady did not hear her. I just said I will ignore it and just left before I make a seen.Checkers Management. You really need to look at the services at the tils tills.

Long ques and to be quite honest the store always looks untidy to me. Certainly not the best Checkers outlet in PE. Really only stop there out of it being on my way home from work.

Pathetic cream buns I bought from your bakery today I wish I could upload the pictures here of how empty and dry they are. Rather call them sweet rolls instead of cream buns. No cream inside, see that your staff concentrate on their work and less gossip. And I bought 2 packs

Checker on 6th Avenue i was really not impressed!! For an ambassador of the checkers group, i was ashamed to find that on Saturday when myself a few friends bought some pudding cups of malva and custard on our way to the beach. Only to open them up in the car to find mold growing on them. It was disgusting!!! I was not only disappointed but embarrassed to for promoting checker to visitors coming to Port Elizabeth, only to find that is the type of service the staff at 6th Avenue has to offer us. If that is not all. We optioned to go to 6th Avenue as it was closer coming from south ends point. We specially went to find Vegan gudness cold cut deli meat. Only to find that they dont stock it at that branch. That is also a disappointment. As they dont catter a variety of items for the non- meat eating community. I have up loaded the malva pudding cup to their photos if their is anyone who would does not believe me. I gave this branch a rating of 2, as the other services were fairly good, such as cleanliness, covid regulations and safety, good customer service on returning the pudding and great staff that are helpful. I really wish to give you a better rating. But i will do so in the near future if my experience with 6th Avenue Checkers changes.

Average I guess, not like I expect them to be the leader of supermarkets, just that their veggies aren’t always in great shape, and they still sell plastic bags. Meh.

Too busy and Noone to help

19 Nov 2019. Bought 2 mangoes. R13.00 each at this branch of Checkers today. Inedible ? due to cold storage.Planned tomake a dessert for guests tonight. Contacted fresh produce manager Shaun. Said I could come to the branch and hed refund my money and give me 4 mangoes. Very unhappy with service plus no dessert. Plus why would I waste another R30 petrol to fetch more inedible mangoes!

They rarely have what you need and only 1 friendly/helpful person in the whole store. This time my sandwich was squashed at the till and I was charged for 2 extra plastic bags that I didnt need/want.

Enough parking.Great location.Good hours.There is a need for more variety in their toy aisle.Their veggie section is sufficiently stocked.However staff must check their expiration dates on their ready made food...

Clearly the staff at this Checkers are not taught to greet customers nor thank customers at the till. Guys, you are not doing us a favour, we are doing you a favour by shopping at your store.Never forget that we (the customers) have a choice.I choose not to set foot in your store again.

Disgusting fresh produce!! Rotten tomatoes on the shelf. Rotten potatoes in the bags. Avocados where off we had to cut out so may off piece to selvedge what we could. Bread is mouldy!! Actually the bread is always stale and old. The meat is disgusting, twice Ive bought chicken and its been rotten!! And Ive had to through it away!! How the hell can a grocer label this as fresh and sell the disgusting food?? An inspector needs to good check this place out. NEVER BUY CHECKERS MEATS!

Bakery staff shouts loudly at each other argueing instead. Poorly behaved unhelpful staff and when you ask them to stop they argue with you. Store is untidy and dirty. Rather avoid.

My wife bough two Sunday lunches and what a disgrace to sell this sh.t to people,It tasted like old food that was warmed up more than once,the beef tasted like cardboard,The chicken looked like someting from outer space.no soices,gravy or salt.

So many of the shelves are empty and the fruit & veg section stinks of products going off. The staff are very unfriendly and it seems as if the aircon is not working either. The floors were dirty too. This is a sad and dismal place and I will not be going back there.

Had forgotten a bag in this checkers, after about an hour we went back and found the bag, the trolley in the exact same place we had left it. I guess that means its not such a busy place.
