I do not usually name and shame, and it saddens me to do so, but this is a matter close to my heart.On Sunday afternoon, our 9-week-old poodle puppy started showing some very severe and strange symptoms and was not doing very well at all. He was dizzy, could not walk, kept collapsing, was completely unresponsive and could not judge distance.We were in Kleinbrak at the time and had to race back to George. All the vets we called did not answer our phone calls, the one vet that did pick up was a vet at the George Animal Hospital. When we arrived, he asked us if we had been there before, we said no, he then asked us where we had gone before, we informed him that we had taken him to Vital Vet in York street. He then asks us, Well, why didn’t you take him there then? If I were not in such an emotionally fragile state, I would have walked out right then, but we were desperate.I realize that it was Mothers day, but this was really an emergency, and on the drive back from Kleinbrak, the puppy seemed like he was really not going to make it. The vet could not even really tell us exactly what was wrong but made a call that it was something perhaps caused by his deworming that he received on the Friday.At the end of the consultation, I asked him if our little puppy was going to be ok, he sarcastically replies, Well, I dont even know if I will be okay tomorrow. After a bill of over R1600, that is not really the type of response that sets anyone’s mind at ease.The Vet took both mine and my husbands numbers and promised to call the next morning to check on him, which he didn’t. I am so shocked and disgusted by his lack of empathy and people skills. I understand that it was Mother’s day meant to be spent with one’s family, but it really was an emergency. If you choose to be a doctor of any kind, that is the sacrifice you must make unfortunately. It is your job!I will NOT recommend or EVER go back to the George animal hospital ever again!

A better team you wont find. From the Drs to the reception and staff assisting with the animals, they are all caring, understanding and friendly. You can be sure your pet will be well taken care of here.

Good practice to take your pets to for help, very professional team.

An animal hospital and vets that actually sem to care about the animals they treat. Also a well stocked small shop with all the essentials. After hours emergencies are also treated.

Dr Strydom is a very good veterinarian.
