I simply love Oriental for a good mutton curry. I always opt to sit inside the restaurant and not at the takeaway. Ask for uncle Collin, who will provide you with exceptional service! My usual order is boney mutton curry with basmati rice, a delicious bunny that’s dripping with gravy (be sure to request a lot of gravy) or a mouthwatering mutton biryani, which is served with dhal. If you’re looking for the best bunny in town, this place will offer you that!

Been here a few times, I was very happy with food and service. Recently paid a visit and was so disappointed! Our family ordered several different dishes which were good, although the chicken curry I ordered had a long strand of hair in it. I will not be visiting this branch anymore, rather try the branch at Galleria Mall in Amanzimtoti.

This is an institution in Durban and remains a favourite- and with good reason. Old school typical Durban-style restaurant service, always courteous and professional. The food has always been good. Everything on the menu works well. I recommend everything!!

We all know The Oriental Restaurant is famous for their Bunny Chow.I bought a bunny and It wasnt up to their usual standards. The meat was really tough, some pieces took a real chewing to go down. The salad wasnt fresh and the wait for the food was unbelievably long. The Bombay Crush was highly priced and hugely disappointing. All in all a very disappointing experience 👎🏼

Visited this place after Years and was not disappointed at all. Fresh hot spicy mutton curry Bunny Chow, which all of us indulged in.The wide array of salads and amazing fresh taste of the pickles really enhanced the spicy kick of the bunny chow.It was very filling and I didnt have much space for dessert after.Need to patronize again soon as Im salivating

Beautiful restaurant with some very friendly staff. The food is beautiful and gives a taste of a culture. It is very family friendly and accomodative. I personally enjoy a 1/4 Lamb bunny chow and Salad 🥗. Without a doubt the food is amazing. Great restaurant to invite clients for business lunch or a casual lunch.

Extremely poor service and I received food poisoning along with 9 other friends who ate Briyani at The Oriental Workshop. The owner was so rude and told us to take it to their insurance, we then spent more money to be checked by a pharmacist as the doctor could not see us as the symptoms we were experiencing was like covid and too many of us at the same time. Honestly they could have refunded our money, we already had to take 3 days off work from being violently ill. Not even an apology.

Terrible. Ordered a Buddy Coke and it was flat. When sent back with the waiter, the assistant manager Zubair came back and proceeded to shake the bottle and tell me its not flat cos he can see bubbles. Our bill came to R580, did he think I was going to scan you guys for R30. Something that you guys probably pay R8 for at cost. Orientals is an institution in Durban, we expect better from you. Not forgetting the Sasol Garage branded serviettes you are using .... Thats a matter for Sasol SA.

I am so upset! I ordered from Orientals today, and when I ordered I specifically asked them is the chillie dog a mutton sausage, to which they replied, and I quote, Yes it is. When the ordered arrived an hour after the agreed delivery time, it was actually a CHICKEN VIENNA with chilli sauce on top. I DO NOT eat chicken viennas so if I had know that before hand, I would have ordered something else! Terrible Terrible Service!

Its had it Heyday , but lost its muster, shouldnt have went back had great memories of this place, expired sauce on the table till I pointed it out was a mood killer for me, One of the staff actually gave me the same sauce in a different metal serving cup and argued it was not expired even though it clearly was from the same bottle. To the gentlemen you know who you are ! Not cool mate, Im doing you a solid by not mentioning your name, On the flipside of this review my waiter Clinton was top notch maybe he should be the manager there , he clearly knows how to treat customers. Thanks Clinton.

The use of hand sanitizer is required when entering however they do not take your temperature. This could increase the risk in getting infected from patrons as masks are removed when seated and eating. The quality of the food is of a high standard which is always a pleasure

We remembered this wonderful central city resturant located at The Workshop in Durban, yesterday as we drove through the city. We parked in the secure undercover parking and walked up the stairs to the resturant. Greeted by friendly efficient staff, orders were taken and our food arrived promptly! The bunny chow is still amongst one of the best Ive had. Not too pungent, yet flavourful, with enough gravy to soak through to the bottom of the bunny chow. The kheer is exactly as I remember it, with its distinctive Orientals flavour. This meal and dessert did not dissapoint. I would highly recommend popping in for a meal.
