While its not a 5 star restaurant by appearance wise , the food and people are 5 star I have been to fine dining places from The Chefs Table , Beluga or Oyster Box , But this little vegetarian restaurant with its humble Moon Dhall Bunny , Sugar Beans Bunny , Mixed Veg or Gram Dhall Bunny will have you salivating for more , now this place has been around since 1911, Ask for Amesh they will take care of you.

A Durban institution - if youre looking for the best vegetarian bunny chow, this is it. Also be sure to stock up on their Aloo bhajiya (potato fritters)!

Frequenting this vegetarian takeaway for over 30 years and it still offers a delicious, cost effective lunchtime bite. Make sure to get there before 2pm to avoid disappointment with food being sold out. This is a highly popular spot. There is usually no parking so you will have to double park on the main road. Must try at least once when you are in Durban.

I have always heard of this place being so famous for its vegetable bunnies. This was my first time at Patels, and to the word of many, the bunnies are excellent. Enough of gravy and filling to ensure you eat the bread. Pleasantly surprised and the taste was *****Will be back for more, and more importantly got an opportunity to be amongst people who have very little material wealth but an abundance of spiritual wealth. To sit and have a meal with them reminded me if yesteryears! Thank you Patels, you made this possible fir me!

There are not enough stars on Google reviews for this place. This is the place that sells my favourite veg bunny. Patels is one of the older establishments that still exists today. It has a rich heritage has been in the family for generations. Anyone visiting should try their mixed bunny - with beans and dhall, with a cool drink to wash it down. They also have great potato bhajias. The curry itself is not spicey but oozes flavour in every bite with their secret recipe and spices. Parking is a problem as it is on the old Grey street. You either double park and get your take away quickly, or find a parking if you want to sit down to eat. Patels, please keep the business going well into the future. It should be recognized as a heritage site, right?
