Had a birthday lunch here on a Sunday. It was a pleasant experience. The staff were friendly and service was good. Clean restaurant with nice seating and design. The food was very tasty especially the steaks. Had a biltong burger personally and it was amazing. Soft biltong, tasty large patty and fresh brioche bun. Overall my experience was good here but to be honest the portions are huge so it really is value for money😁👌🏾

A great overall experience. The owners and waiters are welcoming, friendly and hands on. The food is great and portion sizes are big. The pumpkin side is a must try, as are their pan fried steaks and ribs. Keen to return to try their 2kg T bone!

I had a great time here. The food, to be fair, was oversold by my counterpart for the evening. The service was great. I asked for an americano. The barista didnt know how to make one, and asked me to teach. So, I did - not a bad attempt was then executed. The vibe is intimate. I like it. Ill be back.

Joops place has to be the best Steak house in the country.. if not the world! The steaks were cooked to perfection! Non beef eaters had a range of meals to choose from! Joops place has been around for a long time in Durban and is a firm favourite with a lot of locals. Joop makes some of the best tasting pan fried steaks you will ever encounter. Best steak restaurant by far. On arrival greated by the host and taken to our table. Drinks where offered and served very quickly. Then we decided to order pan fried pepper steaks and boy oh boy was this excellent, the most well prepared steak I have ever had. Grisp outside and medium inside. The chef himself is also a butcher that prepares your steak as you order. Most definitely the best steak by far. And to end the night off there special amarula ice cream only made for this restaurant you have to try this

Best stakes Ive ever had

Service is good. Daughter loved her chicken schnitzel, my steak was very nice, hubbys stuffed steak was just ok, dessert is large and yummy.

Joops place is normally associated with some of the best steak around......and thats a fact, their steaks are world class, however the rest of their food is pretty awesome, ribs done to perfection, chargrilled off the bone, that basting is super delicious, great to see that they serve beef ribs of recent, calamari and jalapeño poppers starters...delicious...great service as well. You can taste the quality of their produce is top notch..and of course the chefs do justice in the preparation....keep it up ......

The pan fried steaks are their speciality and is just amazing. The place is nice, clean cosy atmosphere, definitely a place you will want to visit again and again. They have an array of delicious and unique deserts as well.

Zero Ambiance, okay food.

On the 17th November 2020 we visited Joops for our Sons 3 month Birthday. What great food , and even better service! The restaurant is run buy 1 waitress on her own and we received the best service in Durban to date. The owner Roslyn went out of her way to make sure every detail was covered and we were looked after with so much attention. Well done, and keep up the good work...

Service in South Africa is not the best but Joops is an exception. Excellent experience. Our waiter was Andrew who was absolutely top-notch. He recommended the Joops special . Best steak that I have ever eaten. My wife had a steak as well and it was excellent. Enjoyed our anniversary at Joops. Definitely will be back soon.

Joops Place is an unpretentious restaurant with the kind of relaxed atmosphere that makes it the perfect eating destination for the discerning diner who desires high quality food and wine without having to wear a tuxedo. My family and I loved it. The Joops Special was the best steak Ive ever had and that includes some fine restaurants in New York and London! Wendy is a delightful hostess , showing genuine warmth and attention to all her guests. I will certainly go back , especially for the pan fried super fillets.

FANTASTIC!! This was the best experience ever. We got there around 19:30 and the place was so packed we could not find a seat. The owners wife came and said we can wait by the counter overlooking the chef. We sat there, AMAZED!! You can see how he prepares the meat, whether it is on open flame or pan fried etc. He got his own specials and it is definitely worth a try! Steaks are perfectly cooked, warm atmosphere, friendly staff. HIDDEN GEM!!
