Still the best place to get your fresh fruit and vegetables at reasonable prices.
Peoples Mkt I love it
I cant find the words to describe this place, but let me try.First off the market is only open on a Friday and Saturday from 06:00 to 18:00.What you can expect is a big fruit and veg flea market. It is stationed opposite the Bangladesh temple in Chatsworth. The reason why the market is only open on a Friday and Saturday is because during the other days it seems to me that it is in actual fact a taxi rank. That should tell you what the surrounding area looks like. But the market is well worth the try.Let me explain... If you are expecting to get good quality fruits and veg, yes you will find it here.Greenbeans for R10 a packet. The other fruit and veg are... Mielies, cabbage, mint, split peas, onions, apples, pineapples, potatoes, oranges, naartjies, radishes, African potatoes, beans galore, just to name a few. Fresh Indian spices galore as the focus is mainly Indian curries and those ingredients, there is also jars of pickled fruit at half the shopping centre prices. And no place will be complete without the incence stalls. Which are selling all kinds of flavours like vanilla, rose, sandalwood, and others. There are also a hand full of clothing and shoe stalls, but the main focus is the fruit and veg area.If you dont have the stomach for chicken smells beware there is an area at which they sell live chickens by weight then they pluck it and bleed it for you.Near the chicken section there are also stands where the chicken intestines and tripe are being sold. Just to name a few. There is also a section where there is fresh fish sold.My whole family went and you will find that the stall owners do warn you about pick pockets, but where in the world will you not find that there will be unsavoury elements at such a place?I suggest that you only take the cash you will spend and that is it. There are also no toilets. So make sure that you can keep it in if you can until you get home.It was a very memorable experience. I will definitely go again.

Best place for bargains. Is very crowded and hard to find parking unless you go before 8am. Freshest stock are in the morning, however, if you go towards the end of the market day, prices would of dropped drastically from the morning as vendors are trying to sell the remainder of their stock for the day.
All your vegetables needs and much more

Super cheap. Lots of variety. Fresh produce always available at organic level quality.
Great place for vegetables and friendly people
Best place ever
AFFORDABILITY always! People are extremely friendly and helpful. Cheapest place to shop for fresh produce. They do sell other stuff besides fruits and vegetables. You can also negotiate prices. Theres a temple and a mosque where you can park for a small fee. Best method of payment is cash.
Very poor management. Place was very untidy.
Enjoy weekly marketing. Love all the freshness

Place is very filthy. Vendors need to be more hygienic not throw rubbish where they sit. Outdoor vendors need proper shade cover against elements and shoppers. Overall place should be hygienic. Dont like shopping there anymore.

Just a fun place to visit. I like shopping for vegetables, live chickens and the friendly vendors. You have a good chance of meeting people from the neighborhood whilst you walk around. I look forward to my next visit when I am in Durban.

Exciting getting most of goods outside and inside
A truly interesting experience. In a time of massive malls and supermarkets its great to find a spot like this where business is conducted in an old school manner. No point of sales and speed points. Just go see what you like and want and pay the store minder. It is delightful to observe how busy the market gets. Support small local businesses and go down to this market.
Quite an interesting place but dont give your live chicken to those people ti cut for you , they would cheat you
Get all your fruit n veggies fresh n cheap
