I really enjoyed both my meals, I say both because I had one and then had to go back again for a second! Absolutely amazing flavors, with an impressive portion serving. The food was cooked to perfection and there is always ample parking, which is disability friendly! What a treat, I would definitely recommend the food and service of Gate of India.

We ordered to take away. I had a mild lamb curry and rice and hubby had the lamb bunny chow. We also got some garlic naan bread.Oh yum. Cant wait to dine in. The lamb was perfectly tender and tasty. Hubby loved his bunny chow and the naan bread was really good too. Service was quick. We were told that it would be ready in 20 minutes and it was lovely to get there and not even have to wait. We moved to KZN from Gauteng a year ago and this is the first time I have had such a good curry since getting here. Well done Gate of India. We will definitely be back.

Food was Good and Tasty...Service Though...a Disaster...Not like when they were in Dbn North...Had Good ..Quick Service.Only 1 Waiter and 1 x cashier.Owner needs to employ more staff over busy periods.No issues on Food quality...just service was very slow...no starters...no tea...they said it is tooo busy...sorry..lol...we laughed it off...Will Go Back Though

I cannot believe this place is not fully booked! Superb flavours, pleasant service and great variety. The food is not ridiculously chilli hot, unless you request it. We have tried four different dishes from Paneer to Prawn and each dish tastes unique and flavoursome. Dont get me started on the Naan bread ! You can smell it came straight out of the Tandoor oven - smokey, little burnt bits and generous - I would go back just for those! Highly recommended.

Even after KZN tore havoc into our city and home stores and destroyed businesses the staff at gate of India went out and made their most delicious lamb samosas and their chicken Korea and butter chicken absolutely delicious!! Ill miss this when I move.

Absolutely the best curry in the upper highway!! There are many restaurants in the area that claim they have authentic and quality Indian cuisine. We have tried many...if not all, only to be disappointed with oily food, more bones and fatty meat or cheap cuts that substitute the real thing. The food at this restaurant is of top quality and certainly the best we have had. Amazing flavors, quality meat and veg. Please support this great restaurant, to keep it open. Try it you will not be disappointed 😊

Really enjoy this restaurant. It is informal, staff are friendly, take note of customer requests and pass to the chef. The dishes are reminiscent of curry houses in the UK.

We were pleasantly surprised by the authentic little gem hidden away. We are not big curry eaters, though we like it. We lined the meal and next day at work people were smelling my lunch of left overs and complementing the chef.

We have tried a few local Indian takeout spots to determine who makes the best Butter chicken and naan and Gate of India is the best by far in terms of flavour and value for money. Highly recommended!

Food was very good, but our order was incorrectly taken by our waitress. Our medium curries were placed to the kitchen as mild (according to our bill). Portion sizes are generous and flavourful. We will be back.

The i say let me try curry thats when I do good thing for self lamb tikka masala and fraind take butter chicken with the Naan bread before our starter it aloo paratta. Bomby crush thats something I can not resist to it . They tell me its called north indian restaurant. Please when I see this name gate of india I feel Hungary . Great food but service questionableFully licenced with nice selection of curries. Bonus that you can decide how much heat you want. Waitress was not very savvy about the menu and one that came to the table I do not believe could speak English. Probably would give 3-1/2 stars but giving the benefit of the round up with no 1/2 stars available!

The best curry I have ever had. The flavours are just out of this world, the portion sizes are nice and big and the prices are very affordable. The services is great and very fast especially for take away meals. The staff are all very friendly and obliging and the decor and layout at the restaurant is lovely for a sit down meal.

Definitely going to try their food again. So far excellent and authentic Indian food. I am happy they cater for strict vegetarians (they mentioned they do not mix utensils when cooking non-veg foods), so Hygiene and the possibility of food Contamination is rare and therefore good.

Order mutton curry and rice pay R129 and get a mixture of beef and mutton, mostly beef... Curry doesnt taste terrible at all I just felt the price and the fact the cut most the mutton out of a mutton curry is nonsense

The food is really spicy, tasty and very fulling. Not one plate tasted anything like the other.The menu has a big veriaty to choose from.Service is prompt and very friendly. I recommend any person of any culture to have a taste of real Indian culture.

Below average. First and last time ordering from Gate of India. Owners / Operators clearly dont take pride in their food. Ordered... the lamb rogan josh, lamb breyani, plain rice, garlic naan and soji. Both dishes were as bland as the rice... no flavour to rogan josh or breyani... breyani was watery and lacked flavour with no lentils. Rogan Joshs potatoes were undercooked... all round disappointing to say the least.

The food was very good, but dont be afraid of the spice level. I ordered a medium and it was still quite mild, so you can be brave! They arent licensed, so bring your own alcohol, and they dont charge corkage. The only issue we had was that they ran out of yoghurt for my lassi and they didnt tell us, so we sat for about 30 minutes with no idea why. But the waitress was very polite and apologetic when we asked what was going on.

Visited for dinner, had the Chicken Jalfrezi which was amazing! Tasted the lamb breyani which was also incredible. Naan is tasty and made with care.Prices are reasonable for the amazing quality food and special attention paid by the owner.They are not licenced so you can take your own alcohol with no corkcage.I recommend this restaurant even if you have to drive a bit!

Authentic north Indian food of a great standard, really tasty. Pity the restaurant is let down by the terrible service (unless you BYO+++ in which case its fun) and the bad toilets.
