I took my family members to Durban for the first time ever, the place is located right in the CBD, literally a walk to the beach, can i just say that the pricing is reasonable for a large group of people, but the service and maintenance is really bad, the lifts kept jamming if you use the wrong lift you can be blocked inside or end up in the wrong building, the pool guy cleans it but he cant manage it because its always closed and opens certain hours.If you are just looking for reasonable priced accommodation and self catering and be in the center of the durban city , than i suggest you lower your expectations and go for them. you get what you paid for

Affordable place to sleep for a night

It quite a bit and when you look in window there is a lot of see breeze coming through, I kinder like it actual

Let me start with a positive first:it is very centrally located and close to the beach. one can literally walk to the beach. restaurants and eating places are conveniently situated close to the venue.I was fortunate to have a room with some degree of Seaview and Harbour views which was great!However if the service could be improved it would be a great place to stay - service are extremely poor!.On arrival we notice several things missing and out of o order in our room:I handed them a list of things that needed to be replaced or fixed and none of it was attended to:1) the microwave door couldnt open - so No microwave oven!2) the fridge didnt work - so No Fridge for us!We had to by food on a daily basis to prevent food from going off in the heat!3) the TV supposed to have some dish channels - never worked!was broken we made do without TV! Would have been nice to at least watch a weather update etc.4) there was no toilet seat on the toilet itself!5) we couldnt shower initially as there were no tap handles!6) No plug/stopper for bath wash basin or sink!7) the worst while on our arrival we couldnt enter our rooms!somebody had to fix the opening lock so that we could enter our room!With some persistence, 5,6 and 7 hot attended to. The rest were just ignored in spite of our efforts and attempts to have o our stuff fixed or replaced.Why advertise the facilities when its all broken???but overall its really value for money as the rooms are spacious and it can sleep 4 people.the rooms are reasonably priced and I suppose you get what you paid for,but still I believe that if you are promised some services or facilities in your room, one expect it to be there!we made do without the fridge, TV, microwave, toilet seat and the other stuff that I made my list but all in all the biggest selling point here is centrally located.Percy Martin - Cape Town.

I have stayed here as a DUT student back in 2015 and 2016. Honestly I loved the view of the sea whenever I opened the window. The place is clean but most of the stuff were super rude.

The use of foreign security personnel and admin is diminishing the image of the hotel, when you arrive at the hotel are rude, they dont know how to treat customers . They have no customer service or whatsoever they are not fit to work In a hotel that gets visitors like Seaboard Towers. The management has to do something about this before more people get disillusioned and chose Coastlands Hotel which is very close to Seaboard but offers great services and peace of mind.

Have never been so disappointed on my arrival. We where family of 4 X 3 we booked early 2018 month end Feb for 3 Classic Apartment to my suprice when we get we found 3 standard Apartment when ask the manager claim that all classic Apartment are unavailable due water licking from the top(imagine that in December) and we where only told on our arrival. Unfortunately we did not stay in that hotel due to those standards being so dirty looking like guest has just checked out smelling very bad and when we mention that the Manager became so rude telling us that He will personally through all of us out of his Hotel. I will never go any near to Seaboard hotel never. The service was really bad and for the Manager need to stop been so greedy. he sold the classic apartment for the higher price than ours that is why we he ended up giving us the standard one. I hope Mr Ruper Bryant will attend to this matter before the hotel loses its value that was totally unacceptable.

For a student accomodation its great but for a hotel mmmmmh.... The place needs serious renovations and need to improve on their cleanliness. The lady at the reception need to work on her customer service skills its really bad. The lifts arent working properly... shake and you will get stuck. The stuff can just budge into your room without knocking thus no sense of privacy.

If you are looking for an upscale place, dont bother going to seaboard....it is an ok place if you are on a really tight budget and looking for a holiday stay

Very filthy place and will never go there anymore. Pictures on their sites are deceiving and people who arent staying around the place will think its nice and beautiful well it is not the hotel is right at the heart of the town and taxis around. So wherever theres taxi we all know how the place can be and the hotel is not well taken care of its very filthy. At night if you think of going outside you firstly ask yourself lot of questions that if I walk out of my room wouldnt I be mugged on passages. This is how terrible the place is walls are very dirty. I have let my family down even my 10 year twins were complaining. I will never ever go there anymore.

The reception was good but it was not what we expected concerning the rooms we wanted 2 rooms and it was not explained thoroughly when booking the Indian guy was rude when we wanted to change the room he gave us 2 option to stay or be refunded our money

I was there December 24-28 2017. They need to upgrade/buy the cuttlery , buy new beds ( not comfortable )and bedding (😈) pillow cases very bad my neck was stiff. gabbage at the corridors very very disturbing . non working of some lifts and dirty pool.. place was neat at our arrival. some rooms no cockroaches and mine few. rooms cleaned daily and towels changed. staff friendly and management responded to our shower blockage.The rooms must be for students . I enjoyed my stay. even the reception was friendly

The place is dirty, smells and it is the worst place you can go to. The rooms are dirty, they place soiled fridges in the room and its definitely not a family or normal person place. I wouldnt sleep here if you paid me. They should be reported to the eThekwini municipality as this place is a health hazard 🤮🤮🤮🤮. They dont deserve not even one star, they should be shut down

I booked a client of mine in this place, there is no safety , too much noise, bedding was dirty. This so called accommodation place only focus on money not patron experience.

Where should I start about this trip!!. We stayed at this hotel from the 5 Dec 2018 until 9 Dec 2018.I made a booking at the Seaboard Hotel for 28 people through Rooms for Africa. We were travelling with a 40 seaterbus and ask spesiffically if there will be parking for our bus for which I received confirmation via email.To my surprise when we arrive there was no parking for our bus and the bus needed to be park in the street opposite the hotel. Needless to say our bus was broken into and the radio was stolen.This was the start where everthing go wrong. The Wednesday night between 23-24hoo a man enter one of our rooms with a key. When confronted he said he was a maintenace man who was send to fix a plug. I went to complaint (Maintenace manager – Nick) he said will come back to me untill now. So ladies please be aware that men can enter your room at anytime.Some of our colleques was robbed from their jewelry when they went to the shops.So it is not safe to walk around at anytime.Then on Saturday morning my friend’s cellphone was stolen from our room. We went to complaint and let me tell you the person who intruduce himself as a manager( I later found out he was the owner) was so unhelpfull as well as his head of security. They don’t take any responsibility on what happen on their premises. The guy who stole the phone came from the street excess the building without the blueslips( we needed to show when entering the premises).So security at this hotel is bad bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is such a stench at this hotel. I later find out that this hotel is actually a res for students they take in people during June and December holidays. The cleaners only work those to months. They only have 5 permanet cleaners to clean 31 floor (15 rooms per floor) during the other months.So in all if you like to live dagerously please go and checked yourself into the Seaboard hotel. I wil never ever go back to this hotel again....... They deserve no stars!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So from me it is a no no no no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its perfect as a cheap place.Some rooms are renuvated and others are smelly.Lovely view from some rooms.The staff are friendly.Smoking is allowed in the rooms.Hot water and bathtub available so are stove,fridge,plates and cups.

Do not even think of staying here, the place is filthy dirty , you will regret on arrival ever booking here. 20 years ago it was a palace unfortunately today it needs major overhaul .

Not the best place. Wouldnt recommend to anyone at all!! Very filthy. Staff do not clean room, they do not change sheets or any bedding. The do not sanitise, wipe or mop at all. Very noisy place with kids constantly running around! Also has some sort of odour of urine, whice is subject to no proper hygiene... actually everywhere there is an odour. Something needs to be done and business nor hospitality is obviously not their speciality either! 😠 A total waste of money.

The service was very poor. The housekeeper service was friendly. The receptionist was rude and had poor service. The hotel has bed bugs and cockroaches (Amaphela nezimbungulu). The room was filthy and we couldnt eat nor sleep. We requested for a TV and we were told that it doesnt play. The things that are advertised aint true. I wouldnt advise anyone to come at seaboard hotel.

After reading all the reviews, I am shocked. I hate myself for making a booking, I should have read all the reviews before booking. there is nothing positive said about the hotel, its all complains. my December holiday is ruined. the thought of it scares me to death.

Let me just say, I would not recommend this place to anyone, they told us that this is for a low class family and their website says that...I dont see where they say that. The most disgusting place I have ever seen. Smells bad, and mould everywhere, even on curtains. I am sure this place is a health risk. We booked for two nights, but could barely stay 12 hours. Had to book at another hotel. Door lock didnt work either.

Its in serious need of a revamp!Elevators are dirtyNo shower curtainBathroom tap leaking (woke up to a puddle of water the next morning)The key card 9/10 times didnt work.Some lights are not working.They have some ancient tv in the room and those beds are just as bad (and so is the chair)!Even the curtain is hanging by a thread!I wouldnt recommend this to anyone!

Guys dont book this place theres always something wrog with the rooms from bathrooms to non working tvs to beds and everything. Its not the worst. But not the best either. You will regret.

This place is for when you really want to go to Durban and your budget is tight. Constantly under maintenance day in day out, complaints of health and hygiene by residents at their reception area. They need to close for atleast two months and sort themselves out. Seems like money is their number one interest than safety and healthy. Very bad place

SeaBoard is disgusting and very dirty. After we paid for the accommodation we were so shocked to see what this place looked like when we arrived in Durban. Ok for starters, my room looked NOTHING like it is advertised online - not even close. The hotel smells bad as soon as you walk in. Hallways very dirty. Its cheap yea but please listen when I say pay a tiny bit more to stay somewhere else-it will be much worth it! We ended up not getting a refund from SeaBoard for the amount we paid and eventually booked in a 4 START Hotel on the beachfront.I understand its a cheap place so youre expectations shouldnt be high, but this was DISGRACEFUL and disgusting place A horrible horrible plac

The level of hygiene is very low and there was a lack of security. Appliances and the shower was broken . Sheets weren’t cleaned after the previous guests had left . The area has an unbearable stench and there is no air conditioning. Windows were dirty and the mattresses were as hard as a rocks .
