I visited the store with a friend of mine who wanted to buy a phone as his was stolen when he got hi jacked. Needless to say my phone was not very happy with me when I walked in the store. Great store with beautiful technology and great phones. The displays were great as it gives you the ability to test, play and examine the gadgets. The store was full as well with great services from the consultants. I wont be buying one anytime soon though as myself and my phone and i have a committed long relationship. Lol

Firstly it was a long wait than when I went it I said I wanted to buy the iphone so the worker said Ill come back to you in 1min i waited more than 15 min still didnt come so i asked another worker to help me get the iphone and they got it out and as they were about to give it to me the worker dropped the phone and when she said she will swap for me she just went to the other worker and came back and said she swapped it then when is was putting my details in the iMac it crashedNot at all happy

Extremely long waiting times. I was told I could not upgrade my contract early by a staff member and was asked to pay off the remaining balance on my contract at my network provider only to be told by my network provider that this is false and I am actually eligible for an early upgrade. The staff assisting with upgrades need to be well trained. When searching for a product, one staff member tells you it’s out of stock while another will be able to find the product you desire. Inconsistent advice and service. Not what you would expect from Apple.

I am looking for an Apple Store to repair my Macbook Pro and based on all these poor reviews i will not be coming to your store.You havent even responded to half these peoples complaints and points.You have a store to provide a service and duty to look after people who come to you when they are desperate and in need of your help.Who have paid an arm and a leg for a product that is supposed to be reliable but turns out it is not. I am very appauled at the service received at this iStore. The service given by Ntando the technician was the worst, his attitude is the most disgusting part. He was speaking to us in a disrespectful manner and was helping white people with a very great service but when it came to us, he had no time. The queues were shockingly long and it took forever to get service which was very bad.

The service department is a waste of time going visiting, I took my Mac book pro in to discuss ether a service or trade in for an upgrade. The staff member says I got marks from my keyboard in the screen. Sends me away says it’s only worth 1k. I paid 40k for it three years ago

Went in for assistance with technical issues. Delissia (SP?), the assistant was more focused on the fact the if I wanted to return and item that I bought the previous day that there would be a 20% handling fee and that to restore a brand new iPad back to factory setting would cost me R200. The fact that I had the slip, packing etc. for the R1320 worth of items that I had bought from the same store was of no consequence. Apple is supposed to be associated with innovation and customer care. Well not in this store!! It puts me, a long time Apple user off wanting to deal with their products!

Sent in my laptop for a simple Keyboard change, It Came back scratched. Then sent it back for that scratch, they replaced that cover, and it has another scratch, then sent it in for that. When it went in, they refused to sort that out, so when it got back to the Istore, i went to collect it and now there was not only a scratch but a Dent!!! Pictures proved this all happened while i sent it in and not in my possession. The Manager neither were the supervisors any help. Was promised feedback a day later, been another 2 weeks and Still have not received any reply back till now. They still have my laptop! This has been going on for over 2 months now. Worst service. Will take it up to Apple SA

If I could give the service I receive at the istore, in Gateway Shopping Mall Umhlanga, a ZERO I would.I am not usually one to complain but I have a number of Apple products and have never had a good experience at the istore in Umhlanga.On one occasion they even went into my Logic Pro recording software and listened to my music recordings which is completely unacceptable as those are my private work projects they went through without my permission.I know they did this because my Logic Pro always reopens on my most recent project and when I received my Macbook back from the store it opened on a project that I hadnt worked on for over a year. This is a COMPLETE VIOLATION OF PRIVACY!Service is terrible and waiting times are always extremely long.Once my husband and I went up to one of the staff and asked her for assistance. She listened for a second or two and then proceeded to walk away while my husband was mid sentence and completely ignored us, I kid you not. I thought Leon Schuster or Ashton Kutcher were going to jump out and say we had been punked.Twice I have sent my Mac for repairs to JHB via the istore in Gateway and on both occasions when it arrived back in Umhlanga for collection no one bothered to tell me it was there. I had to go in to ask if it had arrived. On both occasions it had been just sitting in the store and no one bothered to contact me to tell me it was ready for collection.I have just received my Mac back from repairs this week and the screen is damaged. There are marks behind the screen that were not there when I sent it in. I have no hope that they will bother to fix this. (It arrived back wrapped in plastic packet/envelope with no card board and no bubble wrap, nothing to protect it, no wonder it got damaged). My Mac cost me 40k and thats how they treat it?????Customers spend thousands and thousands of rands at their store, their products arent cheap and I can honestly say that I have never experienced such bad service. Absolutely shocking.

You get detailed information on a product from sales assistants before opting to purchase. And they arent pushy with your money. The shop is spacey making it easy to maneuver inside. Asked whether there was stock of a product and drove a distance to purchase it. We checked beforehand online to make sure that there was stock of the product at the shop. When we arrived there they told us there was no stock of the item but when we showed them website it stated there was. Then we were told there was stock but it was reserved for a customer. But the ridiculous thing is you dont need to make a deposit to reserve an item. Moreover this did not even seem to be a store policy. I had cash to purchase the item there and then whereas the store could not even be sure that the person who reserved would come to the store to buy the item. We werent even given suggestions for alternatives. Customer service is appalling and this is not the first time that I have had an experience like this at the iStore. I am absolutely put off apple products and the iStore. I suggest that one should think twice about giving their business to this horrible store.

Would definitely not suggest the iStore at Gateway. They are great at selling you the products but they dont care about you after that. Their customer care are too busy, they generally answer you with thats never happened before and just make you very angry. Will definitely suggest another branch or business to get Apple products from.

Service was great, my phone was acting up couldnt charge let one switch on and i got told that support department needs to look at the phone and it was closed because it was 10mins before closing and there was one person from the department very efficient and fixed and rebooted my phone. Theres no way of contacting the store directly. Had to go all the way there just for the service person to tell me a battery change on my phone would take 10 working days, whereas in Cape Town or Johannesburg it can be done while you wait. Apparently the person who serviced phones in Durban left.

For the crazy prices they charge for iphones and apple watches, youd expect a much much better resourced store offering much better service. Theres zero queue management in the service/repair section and they rarely have stock. Compared to the product range and service available at true Apple stores in the US and UK, this store is a disgrace to Apple.

Appalling service received at iStore Gateway today. Long queues at the Repair centre. A particular staff member that I had the misfortune of interacting with was tactless and dismissive. If not for his colleague who intervened, I would happily rate the store’s service as -1. Apple clearly needs to make a greater effort at hiring competent and skilled staff, and staff need to be urgently trained in basic customer etiquette.

Worst experience. Nobody at store is competent and all lack customer service. Waited 10min at the till point. No cashier available. We asked many of the staff and all said that they busy and we must wait. We left the item and walked out. This is my second experience at the Gateway store. Apple, please ensure that you have competent staff available that also know basic customer service.

We love the Apple products but the store is very challenging to contact . Theres no direct store contact details so if they are having training and you drive all the way there and the store is closed, Thats Life. Expect a Premium Apple reseller dont expect Premium Apple Support or Customer Service.You can stand for a long time waiting for assistance with limited seating arrangements. (I stood 15minutes in the second position to collect a device that took 1 minute) if you dont have an appointment expect that you could be standing there even longer . All in all if you arent tech savvy dont expect that everything the staff may tell you is in your best interest. You may need a second opinion. Staff will always try to upsell you and add accessories that may not even be needed. Its a great place to find the latest range of apple products but it doesnt compare with the Apple store itself .

Waiting time is absolutely ridiculous. The works attend to you after 30 minutes of waiting and trying to get there attention. Unless you making no enquiries you go straight to the cashier. That process is painless, but the service is very slow.

Went in two weeks ago complaining that my battery was draining too quickly and going completely dead with 30% still showing on the indicator. I was told by the Apple iStore Gateway service department that my phone is old and if I charge my battery at night while I sleep it would get damaged. By the way I have an iPhones 6s 128 gig version. How can you call it old. He handed my device back to me and said there was nothing he could do. That when I decided to call Apple support In the US. They told me a completely different story and told me to take my device immediately to the Apple iStore because my device was part of a recall program. The batterys shipped with my device was exposed to air longer than it should have been and resulted in the battery malfunctioning. If the first visit to the Apple Store wasnt horrific enough. The Repair staff are arrogant. Dont greet. Are far from pleasant to speak to and dont know what the heck they talking about. Oh the service department closes at 6. So dont rush after work. Youll get turned away. In short Im done as an Apple customer. Selling my Mac and iPhone and moving on to better after sales service. Been with them for over six years. Pathetic.

First time at Istore to unlock two blocked phones and I wasnt too impressed. We were told to make an appointment and the only available time was at 4pm on a Saturday afternoon. We arrived before time and were attended to 45mins later. To make matters worse we paid for upgrades but were still not guaranteed that it would unlock the phones as the previous user had the password and pin. So now I wasted time and money. If I had known previously or upfront I would not have continued with my query.

Apple made the worst decision deaming iStore as a premium reseller.Their service is terrible, their staff is uneducated in the world of Apple, their stores (especially this one) are small and cramped and the you know what the best part of all this is, they over price the products by over 50% on the the original price.For instant, a R6 900 (converted to rands) iPad will be R9000 here, and if youll dont believe me look at the iPad Air....

Took my MacBook Pro in for a repair estimate, came back at R21K while the computer was purchased for less than that. It was literally more cost effective to buy a brand new computer with the measly 1year warranty instead of paying for the repair costs.Their prices in general are disgusting, for an “premium reseller” which is a franchises version of apple in the states and overseas, The Istore In SA is a complete slap in the face compared to the service and quality expected from the brand, their prices from accessories to machines are overpriced and a single year warranty on a computer is a disgrace to the brand.

Took in my iPad 2 to seek advice and possible solutions to the issue of the device not charging. Made to wait an inexcusably long time and then assisted by a gentleman that seemed to care more about looking at everyone else in the shop than actually tending to my issue.After what felt like days, he said that I should leave it with them so they can find the issue and theres a fee if I choose to decline the proposed repair costs. After hearing the possible costs, I declined leaving my device at the store.Two hours of my life wasted at this white-washed excuse for a premium store. Steve Jobs would be turning in his grave if he knew what his revered brand has been reduced to.I would suggest that everyone go to the WeFix store at the mall. They are very friendly and helpful and the prices are quite reasonable too.

Absolutely horrendous customer service. After updating my MacBook Air OS to Sierra, my iTunes no longer recognized my iBooks and so I visited the store to seek advice. The technicians were clueless. Frankly they had a lesser working knowledge of my device than me and combined with their arrogance, it made for 2 hours of achieving nothing. The process ended with a shrug of the shoulders and the techie indicating that they could do nothing to assist as they were merely a re-seller. Their t-shirts with catchy sayings really should say: App-solutely Clueless.

Worst istore ever! Ive been in a lot of apple store and istore and this guys simply are not working, they dont care about costumers, this is the reason. Apple sell by itself the products, its an awesome brand that doesnt need a real seller to convince costumers, so from this employees it just needs assistence and clarity and of course is something you cant find in this shop, from the management to the last one employee.One star is even too much.No answer to phone, no direct number to istore and service period of products longer than the one described, in Genius Bar I didnt talk with genes that could help me with apple products, this make the difference.
