Staff at the office really efficient and admin was quick. Expected my arrival as one of the later flights on the day, greeted me by name. Car was clean, newer models and low mileage.Two areas could improve:Try and offer a better variety of cars/brands in the various groups.Staff where collect and drop off the car not as helpful and interested as I recall them being. When collected the car, even though the office informed them Im coming, was just sitting behind his desk, I had to go to him for the key and he stayed behind his desk didnt come out to the car, used to them coming to show you where the car is and doing a check with you. Similarly when dropped off the car just came walked around checked mileage and petrol and went back into his office. I went to get a trolley came back he was gone, had to go to the office to check if everything is fine.

I cant recommend Woodford enough. The team at King Shaka airport absolutely amazing. I was blown away with the service, from when i entered and got the amazing smell until I dropped off the keys . I cant believe Ive never used them before now that Ive discovered Woodford theres no going back ! Ive used other rental places before and this by far was my best experience from a car rental teamn. Keep it Woodford Ushaka Airport !

I have just rented a car from them and am bitterly disappointed in their service. I would strongly advise any potential person hiring from them to get legal advice regarding the wording of their contracts. It seem that rental agreement and final invoice dont necessarily match. The agent at the airport quoted me a monthly rate but I was then charged a daily rate. They were fully aware of my rental period and the special offer was to make up for having to wait almost a month for my deposit repayment on a previously rental. All this after I agreed to return my car in exchange for a less desirable one as they had sold the car I was using !!

I hired two different vehicles over 7 days as my needs for them were different. The cars were very well kept and the staff were efficient and very helpful. The only aspect was the payment of the toll. The vehicle had a toll tag which was charged when we passed however the billing shows a handling fee of R50 which is added to a R32 toll . I think that that is not fair as I could have paid the cashier the R32 toll as I passed through. It was a small amount but there is a principal to this.

All good and well!No real issues.No real problems.Interestingly:1.The seats are quite high. Tall people (like myself) look OVER the mirror.2.The key holder states Hyundai I10. But the car was in actual fact a Hyundai Atos.

Picking up dropping off was good. Car was literally brand new. The only problem was that the car was not filled up fully. Two bars were already missing but it was corrected on returning the vehicle. Overall good experience.

I have never had a worse experience than the one we had Friday 14 May around 9 in the evening. The staff member was arrogant and not helpful at all and was quite happy for us two ladies to be stranded at the Airport. We booked a vehicle to go to a wedding in Natal Midlands. We got fantastic service from AVIS much later in the evening and they looked at all options so that we happily drove off in one of their vehicles. A lesson in client service the guy from Woodfords can go take. He was most definitely not a gentleman but an absolute pig. We will definitely never recommend Woodfords thats for sure.

Poor Service - Paid for rental on 28 August, yet at collection on 02 September, I was charged again for rental. Person behind the counter said he will reverse the second charge, but to date (6 days later) it is still not done. The person when I picked up the car in the parking area refused to check the condition of the car with me when handing me the keys, stating that the car is practically brand new, and if I want to waste my time to check I can do so, and then just walked away. Not the first time I rented a car through Woodford, but the first time I experienced really poor service.

Employee allows customers to park return vehicles on the road to block the way for all motoristsI have never been so disgusted in my life, i hired a car at King Shaka Dollar Thrifty on the 8th Sept, on a Sunday at about 3:35PM. As I was about to make my way out of the airport, a Woodford Car Hire and allowed his customers to park return vehicles on both the incoming and outgoing lanes in front of the preferb structure that the car hire receives its return vehicles from.I was delayed a good 10 minutes by this Guy and even though i made it clear that may the make a way for me to pass, he laughed and said something about the road not being public.I will also make sure that more people know about about the behaviour at this Car Hire Comapny - WoodstockIts pathetic and its disrespecting, and i Think it was patriachal.Attached are the pictures of the day and he said he does not mind being taken pictures of as this would not go anywhere.If on reviews there was a zero on reviews I would give this company a 0.

100% customer unfriendly + lost ENTIRE booking amountOur main driver didnt have a credit card and we were denied the car because of that.That while the T&Cs state that debit cards are accepted. To resolve the situation we offered 4 different people with driver licenses + credit cards, but none were accepted.As a result we lost our ENTIRE rental amount and had to find costly alternative transportation.Avoid this company if at all possible.

Waste of time and money.. not adequately advertising that credit card is compulsory for deposit...I did online reservation why not request customer credit card availability then... emphasize that deposit is only made through credit card payment... customer has a clearer picture.... anyway I visited Avis and the other hire companies... they seem to be more smarter in how they handle customers...

What a big disappointment when I arrived at King Shaka Airport and was greeted by a friendly Kiran that wanted to assist us, only to be advised that I cant rent the verhicle for which I already paid a deposit of R1000 with my cheque card and then to be advised Woodford Car Hire dont accept cheque od debit cards for the deposit and only accept credit cards. It is the 1st time I had this experienced that if you dont have credit card that you cant be assisted. I had to rent a verhicle from Hertz Car Hire that gladly assisted me. While waiting for my new rental another couple also arrived that was shown the door for the exact same reason.I need to go to all the trouble now to send Woodford a email for the refund of R1000.I would suggest that Woodford dont accept deposit payments when bookings are made on the internet with cheque or debit cards to avoid futute complaints by disappointed customers.

Best company to deal with when hiring a vehicle. The website is very easy to navigate and you will receive discounts when you register on their website, especially if you hire a vehicle regularly from Woodford.The guys at the counter assisting you with your vehicle when you pick up are extremely helpful and also advise you on the difference options for insurance coverages.The assistants at the vehicle pick up area explain the check list and go around the vehicle with you for the inspection.The vehicles are relatively new with minimal mileage, vehicles are extremely clean inside and out.I highly recommend this professional company for their services and I have already recommended my friends and family to use them in the future.

I normally do a trip to Durban during December, make the necessary arrangements for a rental with Woodford car hire and return it after my stay. Works everytime. I get the assistants attention when picking up the rental, the personal that assist me is Kiran Desigan Ryan these guys are clued up with what they do and are very professional. Im not satisfied with the service I recieved. I was involved in an accident using Woodford car. First I was told that I should pay for the towing. Is towing not covered by insurance? Secondly I was communicating with two people Rebecca and the guy from head office they suggested different places to tow the car to which was kingshaka and Springfield confusing. Thirdly I was instructed by Rebecca to go and to saps for accident report. At the police station only one book is used I had to wait for other people to finish. I was delayed there for about 2 hours. She kept phoning me it was very stressing. That resulted me in delaying to to return the car for about 10 minutes I was charged for another day. So many charges now Rebecca is now referring me to other people but she was the one who had been giving me instructions. I paid R8500 deposit and R3580. 20 for 2 days towards hiring which equals R12080. 20. I was told my excess is R6000 plus R920 for petrol that is supposed to be R6920 minus R8500 deposit then get the difference. But on top of R128080. 20 already paid more than R2500 was further charged on me.Please help.

Terrible service! Am still waiting for my deposit to be paid back 7 weeks after dropping off the vehicle. Many emails later I still havent been assisted at all apart from agents saying they will check with another department - and then never responding further. Be very cautious of this company!

I was highly disappointed I couldnt get the car which I booked well in advance, I was not informed that if you dont collect the car after 3hours then the car gets allocated to someone. My flight was delayed and it was out of my control then my car was already allocated to someone else.There was no even some communication from Woodford stating the car will be given to someone else. I was stranded for another 4hours looking for car from other rental companies, eventually Hertz Car Hire became my saviour.With this bad experience I dont think I will ever book a car from Woodford Car Hire again, I would rather stick to Avis,Bidvest, Thrifty and other well known brands.

Good pricing. Friendly and helpful staff. Fast collection and drop off. I loved the fact that there was no queue compared to other car rental agencies Ive used at this airport before. The car was clean and well maintained. Only thing was the car stank so badly of an ugly smelling polish or air freshener, its very off putting and may affect my decision to use them again in the future.

They refused to correspond with me on the excess fees taken from my card by either themselves or Car Trawler in London. It is a simple thing to explain (and prove) who has the money but Woodford have declined to do this.My recommendation is to therefore to avoid (along with Car Trawler). The headline rate is not good value if extra charges are deducted - this is likely to cost them far more than the £50 I wanted refunding due to the simple fact I am from a family of 12 expats who all drive when they return to Durban. First time using Woodfords at King Shaka and the last time. Upon arrival discovered my licence had expired, so arranged for a friend to be brought to the airport from 70kms away. Upon arrival only to be told that company does not accept debit cards. I offered my card but they would not accept, eventhough I had paid for the hire. Went next door and hired s car from a rival company. Now to battle to get my money back.

I booked a Hyundai i10 or similar. I got there and got given a Ranault Kwid. When I got in I noticed that the fuel gauge was at half. I reported this to the staff and they told me that it was a fault with the gauge and that the car was fully fueled. I then went to the petrol station next to the airport and the car took R 212 worth of fuel. I got back and showed this to them to which they just replied ok well refund you and charge the last customer no apologies for the inconvenience or anything of the sort.The car itself is a disaster, the is no remote locking or unlocking with the key. You physically have to put the key in the door and turn it. When you do that it only locks the drivers door and you have to physically lock tbe rest manually. It is very unstable on the road and sways when there is even the slightest wind. The tyres look like theyre off a motorbike hence the grip is non existent. All in all the worse car Ive ever driven and Ive driven many cars.

Paid for booking in full on the website using my Mastercard. When collecting the car I was told my Nedbank Platinum Mastercard was not a credit card and could not be used for the deposit. I offered to EFT but the sales person said without a credit card he could not help. Pathetic service. Went next door to Eurocar and they sorted me out in 10 minutes.

Absolutely TerribleThey charged my credit card for damagesBut inspector signed it off as clear and then was called back 25-30 minutes later to sign again being a 68 year old woman unaware thinking i forgot to signTo top it all of I had super insurance cover and was even charged handling fee.When I queried it the lady was rude and said when they checked it 2nd time they found damages thats only after I left so what happened the first time.No one even communicated with me regarding the matter but told me manager will call me which never happened. Just started hiring vehicles for my company lately luckily I learnt early. As for the money seems like they need it so keep it as charity.Totally disgustedI have edited this comment in order to say that its 2 years now and they still havent responded to this matter as they said they looking into it

I had a terrible experience . I received a message at 18:02 on the day that I had to pick up the car, which was booked for 20:00, saying the car is ready. I get to the King shaka branch and was told that the car was not there and they had no other cars available. The person on duty was so flustered he did not know what to do next. They eventually dropped me off at my home and I had to return the next morning to fetch the car I paid for . I was promised compensation for the inconvenience however have still not received any such.

I was charged for damage I did not cause... a flat tire, which reported after driving out for 3 KMs. They said do not worry the Mercedes has run-flats. So throughout the rental I had to fill it up with air every other day. Upon return a week leter they charged me R 3000 for the tire. My cellphone was stolen from the vehicle at the Durban branch. It was in the middle console... forgot it a few hours later I come back...nobody knew where it was.I was renting vehicles for three consecutive months and there was always an issue. I think I rented 5 different cars in those 3 months and not once did my deposits return on time or in full.I returned a vehicle but they forgot to log it it.. so I was charged for an extra day.Incompetent staff.... called to sort out payment and gave them a card to charge....employee decided to charge the wrong card. And why do they use their cellphones to call customers?!I had to extend my vehicle a few times..... all those time I received a calls at 7 am!! even though the vehicle was due later that afternoon.Both King Shaka and Durban branches had these issues... I spent enough time at both so Im comfortable reporting on this.

We arrived the 2nd Feb to collect our car booked via travelstart website. On arrival we were informed that they dont have our car in stock any more as they sold all the automatic Kia sportage that we booked. Our booking was made two weeks in advance without any prior notification in this matter. After almost two hours of going backwards and forwards They offered us a BMW instead. The Sunday they called and gave us a manuel Tucson. I would not recommend them as their service and support is not up to standard. Make sure you check your mileage and if the tank is full. With both cars we had incidents during our hiring. They really jinks us on our holiday

It’s always smooth processing at the front desk but having 1 man at the receiving and despatching office , down where the vehicles are located becomes difficult and the client ends up waiting if the guy is tied up with another client.
