Extremely disappointed by the lack of compassion and professionalism of the staff / management at Chartwell Guest House. After saving for a much needed weekend away I booked and paid the full amount upfront for two rooms. Due to unforseen cirmcumstances we were unable to make the trip and I informed Chartwell Guest House as soon as I was able to. I explained that I understood the improbability of receiving a refund due to the short notice, but asked if it would be possible to hold onto the payment to be used on another weekend (would even be prepared to go on a weekend when the lodge was not too busy). To date I am still waiting for a reponse to my mails from the owner and have been totally ignored while my money has just been taken. I would suggest that if you are booking at Chartwell Guest House you do NOT pay the full amount upfront. Life is filled with unforseen circumstances, and this has been very clear over the past two years with COVID. There is absolutely no sense of compassion from Chartwell Guest House. You have lost a couple of clients and any future clients I may have referred to your lodge.

The host and staff seems like one family ❤️ excellent service, very clean and the peaceful place to rest in quite atmosphere. Enjoyed my stay, will definitely go back🎉🎉🏖️

I have no complaints at all..i came there Last year with My Girlfriend and daughter..We Had a Big Room with a Shower and a Bathtub something you dont get Cheap at any Guesthouse in Umhlanga. wish i stayed longer

Good looking and clean guest house. Everything is there and the staff is helpful. There is a mini fridge with snacks and the availability of room service. The breakfast room and pool area are well take care of. The place is in a short walking distance from both the beach and the restaurants.

Great service and lovely place

My husband and I (and our 2 dogs) were hosted by Janine and the team earlier this year when we made the move from JHB to DBN. Our home wasnt going to be ready for us for another 2 weeks after we arrived, so we needed a place to stay that would allow me to work remotely, would accept our two fur-babies and generally would be comfortable for a long-term stay without spending a fortune. Chartwell guest house ticked all of our boxes and exceeded all of our expectations. The team was so warm and welcoming and attended to every need we had. It was the perfect place for us to stay as we transitioned between the two cities and holds very special memories of our first 2 weeks in our new home town. Thank you Chartwell Guest House for your superb hospitality and for welcoming our pups too - this is something very hard to come by in Durban and we are SO grateful that they could join us at this beautiful place.

Very peaceful and welcoming place.few minutes walk to the beach.

Excellent venue to relax and unwind. It is a stones throw from the lively and upmarket restaurants and pubs of Umhlanga Rocks for some great sundowners. We were welcomed with our two dogs and were given our own yard for the dogs to play.

Unfriendly stuff and owner, not clean, small rooms not like photos and too much noise cuz 3 rooms close to gate . When I was staying there there was a lady with 3 dogs were marking too much noise. Its not mentioned on website that dogs allowed. I have booked on website and when I arrived there they told me that I have booked single room and double and stuff offer me to pay some money on side and they not going to tell the owner. I have reject that and ask stuff to phone the owner and I have asked her to give me my money back as I didnt know that and not mentioned on website and she reject that and told me that I have 2 options leave or pay more money. I had to pay because we were tired myself and my wife. The funny thing is the room and bed size is same for single and double

Our room was very nice, clean and big! With direct access to the pool with lounge! The location was perfect and we were able to walk to the sea! Unfortunately, we got to see how a suitor went to one of the rooms with a young girl, paying a lot of money. This has kept us busy for a long time. For that reason I would not book this accommodation anymore.

Not quite fresh with flaws such as small rooms in 4-bed, short beds in the second room, garden furniture not clean, sidewalks loose, water läüft not good in the shower, shower door jammed ..., near main road. Owner reacted insulted to criticism.
