I had a terrible stay at The Sails, firstly we had to wait at the security down stairs for almost 30 to 45 mins after check in time. The lady who was assisting us was up and down as if they had no idea we were coming. Mind you no couches at the reception we were standing. Their service is poor only the security was friendly and helpfull for details. When we arrived at the apartment the curtains was not properly inserted on the curtain rail,the tables and chairs were dirty, on the balcony it was dirty , actually the house was not thoroughly cleaned. The bed was old and it was making irritating noise. At night we dicovered that the lights at the kitchen and sitting room was not working and i called the lady and she said there is nothing she can do she is of duty and there is nobody to assist us, so we stayed at the dark kitchen and sitting room the whole weekend. Dstv was not working also but netflix was playing but she arranged for it to be fixed the following day because the owner was not around to assist with the dstv. The lady fixed the curtains and left the curtain hooks on the table and she never came back. They never changed our towels,we stayed there because we had no choice. The place needs a serious attention especially in cleanliness and service it is very very poor. I will definitely wont visit again. The set up is beautiful and the apartment is beautiful but cleanliness, service,bed(double) and couches(torn) it a big no no the owner must do something otherwise he or she is gonna loose more customers. Covid-19 regulations 👌, we booked for the pool prior at the security and it was only us swimming for 1 hour uninterrupted.

What a disappointment. Beautiful location with exquisite views but the place is in a sorry state. Bathroom doesnt drain properly, there is mold on the walla, the TV has alot of dead pixels.The place needs serious attention.Really disappointed.

Wow... what an exciting time we had there. From the security services, reception to cleaners. Humbled, approachable and willingness to assist even when stucked in the elevators. Bedding only changed only once in the entire 7 days spent there. Had to book somewhere for the other week. Mind you we had white sheets for these children. Cleaning not done daily when being done it was not to the satisfaction. As the sliding door window not cleaned even before arrival. Flooring not properly mopped. The balcony was not cleaned. We had to sleep with our windows opened up at nights as there were no fans or air-conditioners not working. Remote controllers were there but not functioning had to buy our own batteries but still not functional appliances responded to those Duracell batteries. No access to the swimming pool, could not be taking our children to the beach as they were forever stung by the gellyfish and one cant succumb to that unbearable stung of those gellyfish. We had to be always at the uShaka marine slides and swimming pool which is too expensive and going to Blue-Gallon, blue waters, going for rides and other activities around but could not use the facilities of where we booked our entire stay that wasnt going to well with me. As for the cleaning staff are they short staffed or what? Parking inside was limited had to have my car guarded by the security guards.

Very Bad from the 2 agents I dealt with refused to give my money back whilst I was on holiday and tested positive with covid-19They refuse to refund me or move my holiday to another date. The rooms r not wht they promise you. When u get there its totally different. Dont book with Sheryl Gibbons who claims she an agent at point bastille they would steal your money. The other agent is Chivion who is non the better. No feedback nor does she call u to tell u whats the way forward.

It was my second time staying here and I enjoyed it even more. The rooms are clean and spacious, the view is amazing, the staff are friendly and the service was good. The only gripe I had (kinda knit picking) was the elevators looked dated and a bit old but otherwise its a 5 out 5. Definitely returning next year.

C7~11 The apartment has a beautiful view but everything in that place was not working, air-conditioner, washing machine and stove not working but they call it a self catering apartment.How do you cater for yourself if you cant even use the stove 🤷‍♀️ the balcony sliding door to the main bedroom could not close properly and we had visited on a windy weekend the sliding door itself was making noise an the wind was blowing into the room so we couldnt get quality sleep because of the screeching sound , towels not changed and the host Benjy from Tyson properties didnt come or assist us whenever we had a problem.. This place is not good value for money, wont be visiting this place anymore 😏

The room was absolutely dark no lights at the entrance and lounge smells aircon doesn’t work microwave and dishes dirty. My daughter got stuck in bathroom doors are old u can’t close them. Thandeka’s handover is bad never left remote for undercover parking.Aircons don’t work. Owners don’t take your call. YouTube works a short while. Very depressing flat.

My friends and i booked into the sails hotel for a weekend and i must say that the hotel was absolutely amazing. room service was amazing . we were able to enjoy swimming and walking just a couple of minutes to Ushaka and the beach. When we arrived the room was clean the building in generally was well-kept and lovely

The staff is awesomely friendly, always there to assist... Then the receptionist is absolutely friendly, she knows how to deal with clients,shes a valuable asset indeed to the business

Awesome self catering accommodation.. overlooking the port of Durban.. The only downfall is lack of restaurants besides if you willing to walk to Shaka Marine World.. Otherwise awesome apartments and accommodation

1st unit 5th floor- only 2 downlights were working (one in the guest bathroom and one in the master bathroom). 3 down lights working in the sitting room & kitchen. Nearly fell-off the toilet bowl as it was not firm/ stable. Complained to the receptionist and we were moved to the other unit at 6th floor.2nd unit was the worst. TV not working, old furniture, balcony kept as a storage facility for old table & chairs, aircon not working, wifi network down, old broken frames left in the kitchen, unit full of synthetic hair. bathroom taps broken.... Had an awful 3 night stay without a TV. The kids were so bored and irritable because of the faulty TV. Reported this to Benji of which he kept on making empty promises!!

Exquisite place 🥳

The apartment was very spacious. It had 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.One with a tub and shower and the other with just a shower.The view from the balcony is amazing you can see the ships in the harbour and the ocean.The main bedroom also has this view.I was quite disturbed that the main room wasnt cleaned out properly as a half used condom was found in the bedside table and one in a closed packaging.Also our air conditioner didnt work.A bit of the cutlery was rusty.But its like a 6 minute walk to uShaka marine world which was where we needed to be so we didnt spend alot of time in the room.Management should just ensure rooms are properly cleaned out.

The place is of average standard ,comfortable but not clean, limited bedding , noisy area very early in the morning and difficult to leave the building as there is only one key available which has to be used to unlock the lift and passage door . Therefore everyone has to be together at all times. The only upside is its very close to ushaka marine world which is what we wanted, something walking distance.

If youre looking for an apartment that offers the best of Durbans Harbour views, then you have hit the jackpot. The Sails on Timeball is a photographers dream come true. Close if youre travelling on the MSC cruiseship, out of town for privacy, and on the doorstep to uShaka Marine. Plenty of public transport is available to a fro the cbd.Awesome staff, pleasant apartments, cool feel good factor

Beautiful place, lovely sea views, quiet with friendly staff, the only turn off was the cleanliness which was not up to standard, Balcony was never cleaned for the entire stay, Dust over the coffee table and bathroom and cockroahes

This place has the potential to be great but the up keep is lacking.The kitchen is poorly equipped, the furniture is dirty as are the curtains. The wall clock and air conditioner remotes did not have batteries in.Most importantly the access disc did not work and I had to get the manager to fix it.

Top-notch security and classy building. Penthouse apartments are eqipped with either a pool (non-heated) or jacuzzi together with a complimenting sun deck area. Stunning views of the Durban harbour, Islandview Storage and a relatively close up view of the frequent ships entering and leaving the harbour. uShaka Marine World directly on the opposite side, within walking distance. The promenade on route to the Durban Beachfront is absolutely clean and well maintained. Theres also a new six star establishment coming up opposite the Sails - watch this space!

Apartment C7-07. DSTV doesn’t work. Aircon remotes don’t work. Furnishings were 👎🏼. No towels given out everyday. Won’t be booking this place again.

The Sails G504I think that this place is a potential fatality hazard waiting to occur and they are nothing other than fraudsters. They are not very helpful, the manger does not know too much on what’s going on and cannot address the concerns raised. The entire process of check in to checkout was a nightmare. At Check in, it took approximately an hour and a half to locate the correct parking lot allotted which the manager of the accommodation could not direct me to the parking lot. I drove to 2 other parking lots before locating the correct parking lot myself. I later found that the remote for the garage was not functional. The moment that I went into the room, I noticed that the wifi was not working. This was also pointed out to the caretaker of the room who promised that this will be topped up immediately and that it was probably depleted by the previous guests. So I decided to utilise the washing machine on the last night of my stay and yet another thing that didnt work in the apartment. There was an OE error that appears which means that the machine is clogged and cannot drain any water. My family and I had to spend about 2 hours that night mopping up floors as when we did eventually get the door to release it flooded the kitchen. We now didn’t have towels or swimwear as this was all soaked in the machine which did not dry overnight. This had to be done in darkness at both the lights on the balcony do not work. The balcony sliding door is also not secure on the tracks and this needs urgent attention. I also had to purchase extra towels and clothes to have something to utilise. I travelled almost 10 hours to get to KZN to have parking garage remotes that dont work, equipment that doesnt work and wifi that is not existant. The main bedroom shower leaks, the kitchen cupboard does not close where the dustbin is kept and the curtains are hanging off the railings. My 3 year old pointed out that the balcony railing is simply placed on the wall which poses a serious health and safety hazard which could potentially be fatal. I also had to dispose of one of the previous guests underware as this was in the very first cupboard I opened. This has been nothing short of a nightmare and the worst experience ever from any place that we have stayed in to date. I am sure you will agree that if anybody were in my position they would also feel duped and wasted time on simplicities that should have been in working order.

Average at best, our room C4-17 was not clean. Also kettle was not working and bathroom extractor was making a revolting sound. Wont stay here again

A stone rhrow away from Ushaka Marine World. Elegant and stylish place. There is a gym, swimming pool and laundry facilities. A small shop that has items that are over priced. Excellent service and wonderful, honest staff. We were tracked down and had my sons lost cell phone returned to us. The room we stayed in was exquisitely designed and had all the functions you need at a self catering holiday apartment. Even though therr wasnt a see view, we watched the Gondolas pass by. Highly recommended and would definitely visit again

Horrible. Absolutely dirty and unkept. Horrible service by management especially agent Sheryl who keep dying for the money but cant see to our needs. We were locked out of our room since the maintenance guy locked the door from the inside. We had no one to assist us and had to literally jump the window. Its a shame such a beautiful building is run by bad management. Wont be staying there ever again.
