Beautiful and peaceful setting. 10 minutes away from Dullstroom, but you will need another 6 to 8 minutes to drive down the mountain to the picturesque hotel below. They have an airfield as well as a helicopter pad... wowser! Lunch was magnificent. I had a smoked pork chop and my wife enjoyed the Chefs special, which was fish. Both meals were scrumptious!
Lovely setting and views to look at. Food quality was rather disappointing, everyone at our table was not satisfied with their food. However we made the best of our time here ans enjoyed the vibe
This hotel is the perfect get away from the city. Rooms are well appointed and the food / service is well above average. Highly recommended
Excellent experience and service. We had such a memorable and romantic time at Walkersons. Food was phenomenal!
Such a beautiful place... perfect escape in the country. Staff are friendly and very helpful. Food is very good and varied and the spa is fantastic.
Honestly, I have nothing to complain about my stay except that I wish I tried fly fishing. Everything from the food to the service was 5 stars like it should be. I would not mind spending a week here and working remotely. It has beautiful views and most importantly, it is so peaceful. The food was a highlight for me. Well presented and delicious. The Flying Scotsman offers a 4-course meal for dinner and has a different menu every night.Must-try dishes:For main: Grilled Beef FilletFor dessert: As you know, I am a dessert person, and my meal is not complete without a sweet dish. Be sure to try out the hot chocolate pudding.
A very beautiful and tranquil place to visit.
Its a very special old world hotel situated in a tranquil estate. The food is exceptional can highly recommend.
Even in the dryness of the end of Winter this place is gorgeous. Great ambiance, so relaxing, wonderful staff and amazing food!!!
Thank you, all our party loved their stay...
This property really is impressive and any review that doesnt give it 5 star boggles my mind. The grounds are magnificent, the service is impeccable and the food delicious. We stayed in Unit 9 and what can i say about this room..... Spacious and has everything. Under floor heating in all areas, fire place, electric blankets, towel warmers, bath and cherry in the room.... Would i recommend Walkerons.... Every day of the week.... Especially weekends!!!!!!
Beautiful and quiet place ,with friendly and delicious food .Bad body spa service
Got there just by 10:30 was told that day visitors are not permitted to use facilities like nature walks. Generally unwelcoming reception at the hotel
Very nice, great location, good food. As expected.Service levels disappointing for the price, expected a better level
Beautiful setting great food and service.
Nice food and good service.
Not great. Quality of food poor. Tasteless oxtail, dry fish, soggy chips. Slow service. We had to ask for oblates to be cleared. Staff not very attentive. All in all, disappointing.
Good food and service. Lovely view. The menu is a little limited and the atmosphere quite subdued.
Still awesome. Trying times but well managed. Spa is fantastic!!
I just love this hotel tucked away in the valley!! A must do for sundowners!! What great atmosphere and service!! Would love to do supper there one day...!
Impressive scenery and amazing food! Definitely a hidden gem in SA.
Terrible experience, the location of the hotel and views are out of this world but we had the worst service you can imagine. We will never return.
Cool +hotel there
Best scones. Great spa. Beautiful beautiful place!
Beautiful setting. Ambience old world charm. Friendly efficient staff and service.
Wonderful experience.
Great place but catch and release fishing a problem!
Magnificent nature, hotel needed complete re-vamp 10 yrs ago
We absolutely love Walkersons. Friendly staff and their gourmet food is out of this world. A must.
Food was great, conference facilities were good, rooms amazing, staff was amazing and personality perfect for service but Id suggest they are better informed on dinner menus and what meals they are serving, all and all amazing
Walkersons unce upon a time the PLACE to be in and around Dullstroom. Best food, wine and hospitality 5star has turned into a water down bowl of cheese sauce. So disappointed to see such a monumental destination turned into just another place next to the road.
Beautiful country hotel just outside Dullstroom with amazing views and a lovely nature walk past trout dams. We stayed in a comfortable room with and outdoor shower and fireplace. Staff are attentive and service exceptional. On site restaurant serves breakfast, light lunches and dinner. We loved the time spent at Walkersons and will definitely be back.
Wow place. Food is 5 star and the service is 7
Beautiful setting and lovely rooms
This is a 5 star country living experience with excellent service. You can ride a horse or a bicycle or even take a walk on their walking trail. Trout fishing, and a picnic spot add to the stunning views. The hotel has a superb restaurant and breakfast on the patio is definite must, my room had a divine outside shower and a fire place and stunning views of the surrounds...i cant wait to return.
The masage is so amazing
This place is really amazing. I did not sleep here I only came for lunch and spent the afternoon but the view is absolutely breathtaking!! The only reason I did not give it a 5 stars is the food! It was not bad but not nothing special. I enjoyed spending time here, the service was good but they took very long to serve the food and they did not have many customers.
Really nice spot for a breakfast/ lunch or lovely romantic dinner. Great spring / summer spot to enjoy breakfast on the terrace outisde with family and friends. During winter it has several beautiful and large fire places perfect for enjoying a glass of red wine paired with a lovely dinner. They have two separate menus one for the terrace and a lovely fine dining menu for the flying scotsman section of the hotel. Staff are uber professional and kind and there are plenty of activities for day visitors like horse riding, hiking, biking etc and a nice spa. One of the most beautiful hotels in the country. Defintely one of the nicest places in and around Dullstroom. Prices are reasonable but you will be paying slightly more for the fine dining options which is worth the extra spend.
Luxurious wonderful stay, excellent service and amazing food.
A beautiful hotel with an cozy old world look and feel with all the modern amenities, set in and surrounded by a truly breathtaking and scenic landscape of rolling hills and a number of fishing lakes. The rooms are separate cottages, that provides privacy an space and connects you to the outside. Footpaths allow you to explore the surroundings and waterfalls.
They had very good Covid 19 sanitizing and wearing of masks indoors in place
Food was excellent, loved the living style
Excellent service. Excellent food. Stunning location. Tranquil. A must do stop. Cheese platter and scones well worth it. Fairly priced.
Spacious room, quiet far away from the noise, enjoy the nature.Has a beautiful hiking trail and the service is excellent.Recommend everyone try out this place.
Absolutely a pleasure to have spent a weekend here, from the accommodation to the food and the service given by a committed staff. The views are fantastic and really relaxing weekend spent here. Will definitely be back and recommend strongly for anyone wanting to be spoiled a bit.
Lovely country estate in a magnificent setting. Old-school hotel. Great for a weekend escape. Really good birdlife. The furniture in the room we were in was ever so slightly worse for wear, but its lovely to have a fireplace in the room (which they will light for you every night if you so wish). Good bed and nice minibar too. We happened to be there during a heatwave and there was no way to cool the room down. It would have been helpful to have a small fan.The massage at the spa wasnt bad and the service was good. The food at the main restaurant and terrace were great (except the falafel pita, which was bland) and really not expensive for hotel fare. Being a celebrated fly-fishing spot, Dullstroom offers lots of trout dishes, but the two that we tried at Walkersons are some of the best weve had.The grounds are well kept and you can explore walking trails, hire a bicycle or golf cart, or book a ride with the horse riding school on the property. All in all, a lovely stay.
I had a small problem which was sorted out. Beautiful location and friendly staff
Loved it
Perfect@ great service, great food!
Horse riding was a blast. The entire estate is well kept. Hotel staff very friendly and welcoming. Just having coffee on the porch was nice too.
Fresh breeze away from the ocean
Food......delicious. Nature...... Amazing
Spent the most perfect weekend at Walkersons celebrating my wifes birthday. Staff were friendly, welcoming and efficient. Service excellent and food most enjoyable. We could not have asked for more!
Always a wonderful experience to eat at the restaurant in the hotel.
One of my favorite home away from home places. Wakersons Hotel & Spa seldom disappoints. I love the country side feeling, the interior, the wood fireplaces, the friendly staff and most of the time the good meals. We had a very beautiful and comfortable luxury room. Electric blankets on the king size bed, warm bathroom floor and a charming warm fireplace. Taking a walk on the grounds early morning with the cold biting is pure bliss. The trout fishing dams are in good condition and provide endless entertainment to keen fly fishing-men. We will back!
We had a wonderful pampering session on Tuesday. A worthwhile experience. Service was outstanding
I have been driving past Walkersons Hotel for more than 15 years. I am a Tourist Operator and Guide, so I decided to visit WalkersonsHotel and enquire what they have to offer my future Tourists. What a reception I received! I was shown around and visited some suites and was greatly impressed. Walkersons Hotel will definitely be a stop for my touring guests in the future. Being so close to Dullstroom with its own attractions, I can design a stop for at least 2 nights.
Love the open farm. The fresh air. The dams. The self catering cottages. The hotel. The theme. The peace and tranquillity and nothing but birds and animal sounds.Oh, and the sound of thunder rolling through the mountain valleys.
Had the most beautiful moments with Friends to celebrate our friendship. The stuff was very friendly and the food tasted so incredible. I wish I could have spent more time there as it was a very cool and nice place to be. 💋
We stayed two nights and loved it. Its not a place for excitement or activities - but a place to unwind, relax, take leisurely strolls, fly fish. After a few hectic weeks at work in the USA, this was our first stop after flying into JBG. Great place to recharge batteries. Restaurant was delicious, cabins were comfortable and staff was friendly.
Picturesque does not begin to describe the scenery. Great fishing and even better accommodation. Weekdays are really affordable and a great stop before the long road to the North . Horse riding also available and within 10 mins of Dullstroom. Tea and scone at the hotel can also be recommended and the service is excellent
..we stayed in this loft one night. The atmosphere is very romantic. The lit fireplace in the room gives a touch of intimacy and serenity. Discrete the kitchen with good presentation of the dishes. Very kind staff
Fantastic time. Beautiful area. Very good service at Restaurant. Recommended.
I love it love it love it...the serenity, the hospitality the food ohhh my God where do I start the views are to die for it is a nice place
Fabulous food on the patio. My birthday lunch was most enjoyable and the birthday cake baked by the chef was delicious.
Great service and awesome place
Snotty staff. Expected more. Outside of the front line staff it ia top notch
Had a light lunch at the Hotel. For a 5 Star...rather disappointing. Ok it was straight after new year!! Veranda area was dirty, tables not clean from previous guests. Table next to us had a slice of bread lying on the floor. Service was poor, and when we did not give a tip, there were mumblings amongst the staff in their own language. The couch on the veranda was really dirty, cushions stained, which looked like blood. Will not visit again. Although the food was good, not worthy of a 5 star.
A must stop... even if its just for their milkshakes 😃
Good service and food. Brilliant location.
Beautiful views. Private. Quiet. Good food.
Stunning setting, luxurious accommodation. Brilliant food, fantastic wine offering. Great for a get away, walks , fly fishing. SPA on site
Enjoyed a platter that was reasonably priced on the terrace while watching the rain.
4,7 stars is good
Good place to drink wine and not be bothered
Beautiful, quite getaway place for resting and be with family, loved the 2 hour top of the mountain trail. Drank the delicious pure spring water from the mountain.
Restaurant was just ok. Inconsistencies were clear on the same order on our table. Chicken and prawn curry tasted like packet curry powder was used. Rack of lamb was very fatty. Fillet pasta had loads of dried spices in the sauce.
A walkersons experiences = a 5 star experience. The food, the venue, the staff, the accommodation and the spectacular views were amazing. I will be back soon.
