Absolutely clean and tastefully furnished.Kitchenware and appliances available. ALL the staff were amazing and helpful all the time. Will definitely go back. Great experience and a splendid holiday..yes View from my apartment was breathtaking. One can just sit there and spend the day looking at the ocean.

Service was good could not complain there however when making the booking I did ask if the hotel was fully operational only to get there and the kids entertainment area was closed, squash courts closed and you could only order food for room service and IF you wanted to order dinner it had to be before 4pm. I understand with covid etc but establishment needs to be honest with clients and then its the clients decision to book it cancel

Friendly, helpfull. Most units got seaview. Self cattering. Wonderful swimming pools, where you can enjoy something to eat and drink. Right on the sea, very nice swimstrand.prices reasonable.

General facility was good but our room (603) was awful! Bathroom door (sliding) couldnt close, bedroom door (sliding) kept coming off the rail, fridge door had only 1 cracked shelf (instead of 3!), patio was always in the shade (high wall) we got NO sun all day, switch for bedside reading lamp was behind the headboard which was fixed to the wall! Etc, etc. 😠

Arrived to a dirty apartment with dirty sheets. It was a mission to get room service. Poorly managed or understaffed. Food from the restaurant varied in quality/satisfaction. Also the prices on the menu are not what youll pay, apparently theres been a price increase or we got robbed by the staff. Most staff was not friendly thus tainting the friendly staff.The view from the balcony was nice with an easy access to the beach.

My parents are booked in there now. Booking out early tomorrow due to the loud music at the pool. We addressed the issue at reception as well as management but was basically told they do not care that the music will continue. We are members of Flexiclub and we reported the issue to them as well. Will never book there or refer holiday makers to La Montage

Dont be deceived by the look on the outside. If you are booking in please insist on a renovated room. The ones that are not renovated are absolutely terrible from mould in the bathrooms and mouldy curtains to cockroaches. Rooms are extremely small. Rooms on the 5th floor has no iron, no kettle, no hairdryers and utterly poorly maintained. Had to request urgent transfer to a revamped room. However the staff at the pool area as well as the lifeguard on duty brought a smile to my face with their exceptional hospitality. After many visits to many first resort accommodations this is definitely the first and last for La Montagne.

Lovely setting and beach proximity! The staff are friendly, but we made some requests which were never fulfilled such as a missing kettle in the unit.The bathroom in the unit also needs an upgrade.Overall we enjoyed our stay and the atmosphere around the pool deck area.

We spent a wonderful 4 days at LA Montagne. The room and sea view were great and amenities top class. The staff were very friendly and professional and the food which we had, was very tasty, well presented with generous portions. There is a very special holiday atmosphere both inside the hotel, outside and on the beach. I would certainly recommend staying here.

The suites are lovely with stack back doors off lounge and bedroom but you do struggle to open them. View is spectacular and very close access to the beach. Resort itself is quite old fashioned though.

Our first unit 808 was incomplete. We where told that doors where missing ahead of time but upon arrival simple things like bread knives, frying pan and cutting board where missing. What was unacceptable was that there was no hot water for our first day as it was not even connected yet.While staying in room 808 staff asked to use our room to take tables through for the neighboring so that they could have a party. Not what I would consider acceptable. This obviously lead to loud neighbors which the staff clearly encouraged.To be fair the newly renovated room did look nice and new with good furniture.Our second room 114 was also a bit disappointing. The cutlery draw was dirty and also missed simple things like steak knives (only one was left) and a cutting knife. The fridge was a bit small but what wasn’t acceptable was that most of the shelves where missing. This made it difficult to keep our food refrigerated.Over all I’m left disappointed and would not recommend La Montagne.

Deceitful website listings!We selected and paid for a sea view room on their site, but when we checked in, we got a room that was looking right into the back of the penthouse!!!Reception claimed all our rooms are sea view ...If thats the case, why pay extra for a sea view? Why even have the option there???Not returning here again.They seem dishonest and deliberately deceitful!

Needs maintenance, service was fast and friendly and the fact that its literally on the beach is fantastic. Google prices different to actual price we paid, was more expensive but I think its totally worth it especially for young adults in December, it has a dorm room vibe.

Great location, however the building itself needs some serious renovations. The couch in the room we stayed in was not so clean and the sliding door kept on getting stuck. We were told before had that no cleaning services would be offered during our stay, which was fine by me, however we not offered any change of towels or sheets, had to buy our own toilet paper and no one collected the garbage for the whole week.They could really do better where services are concerned...

Horrible!! Checked in and starts off with us walk up a floor to our unit as the elevator didnt work on the floor we stayed on. Then we walk into a room with stained sheets! The kind of stains you get after a fun night. A jammed sliding door to the balcony, no kettle or coffee. Go back to reception to have the sheets replaced and the rest sorted. All sorted after awhile but only to have the sheets replaced and not the duvet cover which had countless of these strains.None the less lucky it was a hot week so we just slept with the duvet.Will never stay there again!

Generous at 3 stars. Was a 5 star many years back, favourite timeshare. Now the building looks run down, service isnt good. Didnt see the rooms. Spa experience was at least 3 stars.Pool area and tables looking onto the sea have an amazing view and restaurant food was really good, my fish was excellent. One of the best beaches in the area but you dont have to go to the hotel to get to the beach.

We stayed at La Montagne from 28 Mar till 1 Apr. We have stayed at La Montagne several times, but this will be the last. Our unit felt defective despite paying for a superior unit. We had water damage, there was dirty tomato sauce spots on the wall, table was damaged,blinds fell off the wall when I used it, it took the 2 days to clean our grill and the headboard was peeling cheap material on our pillows... the list goes on. Its very disappointing as La Montagne was amazing.

The place looks terrible. They are upgrading, but extremely slowly. They started the revamp in 2017 and I was hoping it wouldve been completed already in 2021.The weekend was very noisy with guests chatting very loudly on their patios until 3am, when it started to drizzle.There were no rules in our unit and I get the feeling that there might be a major problem with managements communication with guests.There is also bad communication between Housekeeping and Maintenance.

Lovely from outside, situated on the beach. Great pool and deck area.But not very well maintained. Downstairs bar closed (now a storeroom).The room we stayed in needs serious maintenance and new furniture.You can clearly see Covid-19 made its mark with holiday destinations being closed for so long and suffer income. Once prestigious destinations are now almost ghost buildings/ towns.

I have been to every other First resort and I I must say that this is undoubtedly the worst. Upon arrival the receptionist was unfriendly and when I eached apartment room 508 I was welcomed by two cockroaches. The bathroom had mould on the shower floor. I had to request towels and dishwashing liquid. For the price I paid this place was a thorough waste of time.

We initially decided to book for 4 nights at La Montagne for the remainder of our stay in Ballito due to the excellent service we received from Ricardo when we came to work at the restaurant during the day. Unfortunately, from the first day of our stay, it was all downhill. We were told on arrival that we would have to move half way through our stay because of booking.com double booking. We were told we didnt have a choice and the hotel could do nothing about it. On the day of our intended move we got a call saying this was not happening and we could stay in our room. Obviously the staff had not been informed of this, as we had two cleaners barge into our rooms without knocking, as (to no fault of their own) they were under the impression we had left. We were also bombarded with phone calls from reception, starting with one at 9am in the morning, asking us to complete a survey for the hotel. There is an intense lack of communication from the staff, which overshadows the excellent service individual members provide. It makes staying away from home so unbelievably uncomfortable and unpleasant when the hotel staff talk over you, dont listen to you when you speak, and treat you like an imposition.We continue to receive excellent care from Ricardo in the restaurant, which is probably why we have not raised more of a fuss.

La Montagne used to be one of my favourite places to visit..but I was disappointed with my stay ..for the place has deturiated at a fast speed..Weve extended our stay with them..what a disaster..room 507 was a building site..builders up and down ..we moved out after 2 days..lost money..the roof leaked the room had a bad smell..I just dont know why do they make rooms like this available to clients. .What a DISAPPOINTMENT!!!.

Where do i start? La Montagne was a place where i always go to relax once a year. Recently its a place i feel ashamed to be seen at. The mold is everywhere in the rooms. Things that should be white looks var from it. It feels like you have to beg staff to assist you with the problems you have. Breakers in Umhlanga is var better and Umhlanga Sands. After over 15 years spent at La Montagne this unfortunately wil be my last. I would never recomment this hotel to anyone. Rather go to Bermuda next door. Got 2 items Stolen out of the flat...

This place is absolutely beautiful!! The am view is amazing. Abel was a good waiter and Kim a great host. When I was there they had fresh proteas in the room and in the restaurant for me that was extra special. The outdoor Jacuzzi also offers a scenic, tranquil experience.

Absolutely disappointing. Arrived to a room where microwave is not working and kettle broken. Maintenance came to replace microwave and stole the chocolate bars that were on top of the microwave. Construction going on and get woken 6:45am every morning to contractors working, screaming and shouting down the passages past the rooms. Asked very nicely to be moved to another room. On a daily basis we were promised theyll get back to me. 4 days in a row and they couldnt bother. No cleaning service, they request that you ask if you need cleaning done. Asked them to clean while we went out for the day, come back to our room with no cleaning done, therefore no toilet paper and braai not cleaned as requested and can therefore not cook for the evening. How this place has been allocated 4 stars I dont know. Facilities and service definitely not up to scratch. Will definitely not return. Absolutely disgusted.

The resort is not looking good. The advertising on web deceitful and overall not well maintained. The stairs and outside steps are dirty and gross and never sweeped or cleaned.Our unit on floor 7 is old and stuffy. The shower curtain is missing some hooks and floor and walls dirty even after housekeeping. Right outside our door water streamed from the roof and only a towel was placed on the floor. It is a serious hazard. The ceiling board eventually came off and was left there. No fixing... in lift the button to our floor broke but was just left as like that. I know the units are being rennovated, but still the units are soooo small.Covid protocols left much to be desired. Tables not cleaned with sanitizer after people ate and drank there. And bathroom by deck gross and smelly. Kids play room is a disgrace.Around pool area it is gross and dirty.Parking is rediculously crammy.Right in front of hotel door the road is blocked off as the road surface needs work but just left like that...I will definitely not go back there. A lot of work needs to be done to get resort in good shape.

Water on the stoep every day. It is from aircons. Nobody ever mobbed it up. Its dangerous. The rooms we stayed in, it needs lot of attention. No doors on kitchen cuboards. Cant shave property in bathroom, the water runs out of the basin so quickly with plug in it. It has not been looked after. It is raining into the one bedroom and maintenance just said they cant do anything about it. The microwave works for about 2 minutes, then it stops. You have to wait for another 2 minites and then it works again.

We went there for Christmas lunch with my mum and sister. I am a wheelchair user and we told them one of us is a wheelchair user and asked if they were wheelchair friendly. They said they were. Problem was they dont have a wheelchair accessible toilet at all which in this day and age is shocking. When we queried this the staff were not very helpful or friendly about it being an issue. Will never go back there! The good was good but the watering service not so much. My sister had to clear our table a few times and we waited ages for waiters.

It was literally a since young adult dream to stay at La Montage. The actual experience at the end was disappointing. It is a beautiful building with a perfect location. The maintenance on the units and premises overall is not good. Being advertised as a luxury resort asks for better. There was a few other areas that I would also like to bring under the attention of the management that can improve matters. Book-in day at the gate is difficult. You queue in the street, causing passing traffic to wait for a change to pass the line of cars. We visited off peak and it was hectic. The front desk book in was not the best I ever experienced but was acceptable. Reaching our unit, we discovered that a few vitals were missing eg kettle and tv. This prompted us to look for the inventory list to check and report as soon as possible. Apparently not standard to issue inventory list to guests. After 3 visits to the reception we were issued and I must add the staff that sorted us out was very helpful and friendly. They checked the content and issue us with all the knives, forks, plates, etc that was supposed to be part of the unit. The electric braai without any heat settings was a challenge at first and you need to be totally sober if making use of the under roof parking. With pillars in odd places and narrow parking spaces, you need to have control over your driving abilities at all times. The issue with all of this is as follows: if you are not looking after the content of the units, you are losing money and you will re-cope from visitors again, water leaks not fixed, rubbish backs are left in passage corners for days. Would be nice if each unit can have doormats, broom, dustpan, something to clean the braai. I do understand that service is available but specifically in these odd times, some of us would prefer to limit exposing ourselves as well as others. Sea sand gets in everywhere and it would be nice if you can sort yourself out during the day or days till the next service. You have a great asset here, please look after it and make it last into the next generation - it will be so worth it.

The room did not look like what was online. There was no wifi as mentioned, no kettle,the electric braai stand didnt work, outside area was dirty so either way we couldnt have a braai. The bathroom was a complete disaster, the door was broken. The shower was so tiny, I had to shower with the door open. Our room was like in the basement, we were 1 floor down from the reception, we had to go through a dark dodgy corridor that looked like a home affairs office, while passing the geyser rooms. The aircon was so loud, my husband and I couldnt sleep even a wink. In the night it sounded like the aircon kept falling with a loud smash. Horrible experience, I had booked for 3 nights and I left after 1 night before the checkout time even. The only positive is that the receptionist was really friendly

We arrived to spend a night at the hotel having booked a night stay only to be told there was no parking available. Then the receptionist made an effort to find a parking for us upstairs which was pathetic. The room was very outdated and dirty. There was only one curtain on one side of the sliding door window. We were given a room in the section of the hotel that is going through renovation/construction. We approached the manager about our disappointment and I was shocked at his appearance. His shirt was being so crumpled but he was polite. The lounge suites in the reception area are so grubby and dirty. It was such a disappointment as the seaview was pleasant. Definitely will never return

I have been to this resort 5 times in the last couple of years. The last visit in the last week of December 20 was probably the worst experience I have ever had. It was so bad that I will not go back.Staff ignored requests alternatively had to be harassed about 5/6 times to do simple things like provide dishwasher liquid, toilet paper and towels.There was no social distancing being observed at the resort or enforcement of masks being used (even after the presidential announcement.Really really disappointing.
