Visited as a friend wanted to know about it. Need to be strong as wherever you stay there are steps, steps and more steps. Own room at R550 is reasonable value when compares to R850 for the local 3 star hotel for bed only accommodation

Monkey bay is one of my favorite backpackers in the Durban area. Chill jungle vibes while also being in a good location near the beach restaurants bars groceries etc. Very safe area, lots of families around. Owner and staff are also cool. Definitely makes you feel at home in paradise!

Monkey Bay is a special place to spend time and unwind. Its proximity to the beach is a bonus and the location is an oasis of nature amongst all the large property developments in the area. For local vervet monkey families it is a safe and fertile area which explains why there are so many on and around the property. Mike and his team always go the extra mile to look after their guests needs and the facilities are always spotless and kept. A must see!!

Monkey Bay Backpackers is the best place to go to if youre planning on having a very laid back vacation.The vibe there is so cheerful and carefree, it is the holiday anyone dreams about.The staff are all so friendly and helpful in every aspect and they always make sure that everything is up to standard when it comes to your room and your experience staying there.You could either camp, dorm or stay in a room for two. Bathrooms and showers are provided outside of most of the rooms, but are very private and are very clean.It is self-catering and there is a central kitchen which provides a fridge, stove, dining table, cutlery and crockery as well as all the spices and garnishing under the sun.There are many places within the property where you can hangout and braai for the day/night.Monkey Bay Backpackers is definitely a place I am returning to in the future.

I heard about this place through word of mouth, I was told about this enchanting artistic place that is any travelers home away from home.I spent a few days here and was with out a doubt blown away. Monkey bay backpackers is central to everything you need , its first of all 15 minute drive from the king shake airport.It is in walking distance to the beach and to the sociable night life of Ballito is safe and secure. Its a little bit of paradise tucked away in the concrete jungle.The staff go out of their way to make sure you are totally looked after you walk away being friends even extended family :) it is clean and well maintained . I would recommend this place to all who are up for an artistic adventure and those who enjoy the finer simple things in life.monkey bay backpackers you guys ROCK.

What a fantastic stay I had at the backpackers. I was on route to walking through Africa and Monkey Bay Backpackers was conveniently one of my stops. Mike the owner is deeply passionate and loves to accommodate. The washrooms were clean and hot water was plenty. I recommend this place to anyone staying in the Balito area.

Monkeybay Backpackers is situated a few meters away from the most beautiful beaches in South Africa. It is tropical and the sunsets and sunrises are something magnificent to experience. This is by far the most homely, most friendliest place in Ballito. The backpackers are filled with love, good vibes, smily faces and great company. Very well set out and you always feel at home, comfortable and part of the family. Kitchen well equiped, just the perfect little holiday place amongst the trees next to the ocean and across the road from one of the towns best restaurants and hotels. Promenade next to the ocean .... a holiday worth taking.

Awsome Backpackers, you feel like in a Jungle but in the middle of the town so close to the best surf spot in Ballito. They have very good places to put your tent in the forest if you wanna camp. They really respect and love the nature. The staff and the owner Mickael are so cool and friendly. Got my best time here in SA for surf and chill around, great base to visit further north ST Lucia and Umfolosi Park.Definetly will be back here if i have the opportunity to come back in SA.
