We had Sunday lunch at Tallas on 8 August 2021. The restaurant has a new, lighter look inside as it has been recently redecorated, and the welcoming fireplace warmed up a cold winters day. The service was excellent. From the Sunday specials menu, I would recommend the oxtail served with mash or rice, and vegetables of the day. The burgers are delicious, but my favourite remains the hake and chips or salad. I went for the grilled hake option. Portions are very generous. Overall a very pleasant experience!

Tallas is super friendly. Perfect for family dinner out or a couples date night. Great food and friendly service.

Had a good lunch and breakfast, service was fair the waiter handled too many tables, not much attention could be given to the seated guests. Food was excellent and enjoy the warm dinning experience.

Great food, excellent service. The only drawback was the irritating noisy motor bikes and cars that would come past and rev their engines. Otherwise I will be going there again in the future.

Stellbrau draft was great along with a starter portion of calamari strips and baked camembert. Nice atmosphere.

If you are in the mood for a great view of the ocean and amazing food...this is the place to visit! Staff is friendly and they have a great vibe! I ate for starters Garlic Snails and main course Cape Malay Lamb Curry and drank a Baboon Juice Cocktail. Everything was delicious! Thank you

The pizza was good, but the service sloppy and unfriendly. The place has a nice feeling to it and seems to be popular among the locals. This is the first place to ever charge me for chilly and garlic with my pizza.

Wow! What a great place in Gordons bay, so warm and welcoming. We where served by the most friendliest waiter.We went to Tallas for my graduation dinner, and they surprised me with a complementary cake and made me feel so special!Their pizza is so good! Complements to the chef! We ate here 3 times and they did not disappoint!(Also they have a generator during loadshedding)

Reason for the one star, is that I only walk pass Tallas Tavern and haven’t visited the place yet. But on passing every time, it’s always busy. Hopefully one day I go sit down and enjoy what’s to offer.

Really good fresh fish there, but service from staff was almost non existent. Had to keep going inside, asking for service, and it wasnt even that busy.....

Actually enjoyed the visit. Pizza was great, really thin base. Love where the tavern is situated. Great spot close to the beach front. Awesome vibe, draughts, affordable food and a decent menu with variety. Would definitely love to visit again. Friendly service and drinks and food was served quite fast.

Lovely restaurant on the main beach of Gordon’s Bay with nice views from the outside tables. Menu has a nice variety and great beers on tap. Had the chicken burger with caramelised onions which was really good. Service was good as well so we’ll be back.

Amazing place to see the Sunset and have dinner and share some drinks with friends. Great ambience... better than the Spur across the road. FAR better. Fire place in the winter time, and cosy feel, has one thinking that you could be in a pub in the countryside in England when inside, and the warm weather when on the outside, gives a feeling of being on the Med! No kidding. Food is also excellent and darn good value for money. Just to be clear ... Tallas did NOT pay me to write this review! (:-)

Great food and all is so beautifull. My only reason for giving this nice place a 3 star is because of the rude black waiter that cleared our table . The lady who served us was a blonde and was friendly and made us feel at home. Took the Perlemoen Starter and was a first. Thanks for everything.

Gordons Bay. What a lovely holiday destination. Tallas Tavern was a good find. Ocean views, good food and service. What more can you ask for?

Unfortunate experience at a place with an excellent waiter, Mikaela, and other staff members who were very friendly.Food was good and we planned to stay for a second meal as we catch up on remote work with our laptops.Unfortunately we did not stay longer the moment the manager on duty informed us of their mask policy that goes against the law.We are in challenging times. My partner and I are digital nomads who strive to actively support the tourism and hospitality sector right through South Africa on our current travels. We expect that these sectors do their part in creating and keeping a covid safe space by complying with the covid regulations.Sad that we wont return to Talla Tavern.I do not recommend this restaurant during the global pandemic, Covid-19.- Nitanja

Food was great and not as expensive as you would expect. Portions size were average (I had a breakfast). Staff were great and very friendly. I would recommend you sit inside, because the wind can be unpleasant and strong.

Dreadfully slow table service. We had to ask for our bill 3 times from 3 different waiters. After the bill was finally delivered we waited for the card machine in vain. When the card machine was never delivered, we opted to pay on our way out. We saw our waiter skulking around near the kitchen he saw us then put the card machine on a table and asked another waiter to put the transaction through........ This would have taken him 30 seconds... The other waiter was also apparently too busy. Eventually the barman was able to do the transaction.One of the waiters we asked our bill for did say they were busy. We were 1 of 2 occupied tables inside the restaurant. the outside tables were mostly full. Overall it was not busy at all, maybe understaffed. I am very unimpressed with this service failure

Ordered the combo of mussels (x6) , fried calamari, hake with half and half. The calamari was GRREAT! The mussels was tasty and the sauce that came with it delicious. Fish and rice was mediocre (needed some flavour) Potion size was generous for the price.Beers: SAB standard pricing.Service: Fast and efficientWe would go back for the calamari. (Remember your jacket)

Easy breakfast with cappuchino

Stopped for a breakfast and a coffee. Right next to the road with the beach right on the other side. We sat outside with the sun being out and it being a wind still day. Our waiter was on the ball and had our orders taken and food not arriving a lot later. The coffee was very nice and the breakfast also. This was an early morning visit and with Covid still around the restaurant was not very full. The bathrooms was clean and tidy. Overall a good experience.

Came here for the oysters. They didn’t have any, nor did they any lobster. We had a drink and the owner heard us bemoaning the lack of oysters or lobster, and then provided Crayfish out of nowhere, and they were damn good crayfish. Great restaurant, nice owners, good times.

First time Ive been to Tallas and the Burgers are amazing wow, the Bacon Cheese and Egg burger was nothing short of perfect 👌, Very nice place to go for a pub lunch.

Great menu Starters and main course excellent. Baboon Juice Cocktail a must, to die for. Tastes like a 2nd and 3rd. Finish off with an awesome dessert.

Loved this place. I love that it is pet friendly and you can sit inside and outside with your pet. I love the view on the outside. Its a really fancy, but affordable restaurant. I would love it even more if the restaurant had a kiddies menu. ❤
