This is a very lovely place in Sea Point. It is close to the road so the outside will be very busy. The food was a delight and the service was great. The lady kept checking that we were okay, she served with a smile and made small talk occasionally. I would say that it is child friendly. It was a wonderful experience. If you are looking for delicate and delicious Southern Indian cuisine then I would definitely recommend Sundoo.

My partner arranged a surprise birthday supper as I always heard great things about Sundoo...the meal courses where not just amazing but it took me back to my days growing up in Durban... This has to be thee most authentic Durban style cooking in South Africa...you will find meals you cannot find anywhere else other than at traditional Grannys cooking at home...We had almost everything on the menu... From samosas, bargie, puri patha, bryani, beans curry, lamb chops, fish curry, butter chicken, seafood curry, mutton curry, pineapple curry, beetroot curry, pickles of every variety, rotis etc etc... Pudding was tradition sogie, vermicilli and Gulabjamin...all done to perfection as in Durban weddings... Service was excellent...the manager and waiters were attentive and made the experience the best... Will definitely go back and highly recommend this authentic Indian restaurant to anyone...

Indian food with the magic touch of Seelan Sundoo who besides being an excellent chef, is a great host. From a simple dish such as the vegetable starter which was done to perfection. The fusion dish of the lamb shank is a well balanced dish in taste. The lamb curry which is the benchmark of Indian cuisine, is rich in flavour. It was hard to judge which dish was the creme dela creme between the crayfish and crab curry or the fried kabeljou. The seafood curry was exactly as one’s mum would have cooked it, that is an Indian mum and was big enough for two people. Just be prepared to get your hands messy as a Fork and knife just won’t cut it. The fish was done excellently as well. The restaurant is small and cozy and together with the good service makes for an overall great experience. I will definitely recommend.

Sundoo serves up the best Indian cuisine Ive had in years. My friend had the prawn curry which was filled with the fattest, juiciest prawns just bursting with flavor. I went with the lamb curry, cooked to perfection in all of its traditional goodness and flavor. The friendly staff takes the service to next level and really topped off the experience. Best choice made going to Sundoo. Going back real soon.

Great place to be!I popped in on NYE, wasnt expecting much at 11pm, but I had the BEST service and GREAT food! I had the Kerala Roasted Chicken, it came with rice. It was absolutely delicious. When the clock hit midnight I was given a glass of champagne (I should of asked what it was cause I hate champagne and this was GOOD) it was welcoming. As a Black American women I had some less than friendly interactions in Cape Town, but Sundoo showed me love and it was the perfect ending to my holiday.

Hip, warm, beautiful spot for excellent Indian food. Sexy, contemporary and classic decor. A great chef owns this well kept secret - the locals all know it. All the dishes are good, as is the wine list. The prawn curry, medium heat, with the fluffiest most authentic parathas imaginable, is my go to. Try anything on the menu and you will be pleasantly surprised with the great produce, and real flavors. In a lively part of Sea Point, this is the spot. Great service is on the ball too.

When a place gets very busy, very quickly, you know they’re doing something right. And that’s exactly the case at Sundoo in Sea Point. This award winning restaurant is your must-visit Indian Eatery in town. The waiters and managers are on point with orders, knowledge, and just going the extra mile for their customers. When you visit Sundoo, you don’t just visit for the food, but for the entire experience that comes with it.We tried the chicken wings and mini chicken rotis to start the evening, accompanied by a cocktail that was just right, after the first few bites we knew every meal was going to be jam packed with flavour. And what a feast! I had the lamb curry in mild, and my partner had the prawn curry in hot. With a feast before your eyes, Sundoo really bring out the red carpet for every customer that comes through their doors!Ensure you make a reservation at Sundoo for your next Indian eatout!

Ive only ever ordered the prawn curry from Sundoo through Uber Eats (probably 3 times previously). Yesterday, they had a 2-for-1 prawn special so my husband and I ordered it. I was really disappointed that the restaurant behaved in an unethical manner in that it falsely advertised the special. The restaurant cut down significantly on the number of prawns per dish. It was *NOT* a 2-for-1 prawn special. What it actually was, was a 2-for-1 gravy special. Very disappointed. I will not be ordering from them again.Update: Sundoo replied that they have always served 5 KING prawns over the last 5 years. Lets just be clear - they were not KING prawns by any stretch of the imagination. I have always recommended you guys to people wanting a good Durban style curry - I have not done so since nor have I ordered from you.

So disappointing! We arrived on a Friday night, having booked a table for 5 on Monday, for a birthday dinner. We were seated in the most cramped spot, on top of another couple. No social distancing, let alone breathing space. I could not move my chair without hitting the other table. After 15mins, we finally got some service. The waiter was not wearing a mask. There was only 1 waiter to 10 tables. After another 20min wait and no service we decided to leave. The venue is too cramped, service is very disappointing (there is no way you can have 1 waiter and expect more) and no proper health checks in place. Pity we did not even get to taste the food. I would not recommend based on the fact that they did not even make any effort to correct the situation and were fine with us leaving.

Delayed Post: Awful lunch at Sundoo .... Was a favourite curry place in CT, however to my dismay, the meals was rather disappointing, the lamb bunny and chicken did not have the right colour and you could taste the ginger and garlic and very mild. Compared to the previous times we eaten there this was a huge disappointment. The masala chicken was very sweet and not what I would have expected of a “masala “ dish...We definitely will not be driving 40kms to have a mediocre curry again. The manager tried his best to ensure we enjoyed our meals however we had no issues with service but the food itself wasn’t the standard we had experienced previously. However the Owner when I posted my review on FB victimized and bullied me. Disgusting reaction from owner.

Unfortunately I was really looking forward to dining at Sundoo, for my birthday!1. No COVID protocols in place except hand sanitizer.2. 1 waiter for multiple tabwl seatings.3. Not sure who the lady was (the hostess) think her name is Roshnee, poor poor etiquette, loud swearing in the kitchen whilst guests are seated nearby and can hear. I just think she should be a proper hostess4. We ordered a few things on the menu, the trio of prawn bunnys were OK, the bread was the best thing about it5. The Prawn chilli bite, is in fact a large chilli bite with a small prawn on the top. Very dry and lacked flavour R88 basically for 3 chilli bites6. The chicken and spinach MOMOs, the spinach was good. The chicken, mine had a few pieces of bone inside it, very unpleasant especially for a dumpling. A MOMO should be steamed and pan fried, these were definitely not pan fried and not steamed properly, I could still see the dry bits on it from the flour7. The crab curry, they added crayfish pieces to mine even though I ordered just the crab. The gravy was very tomato based and lacked the tamarind flavour it needed.8. The waiter was barely there, poor serviceI am not sure if the owner was here tonight and was cooking but I doubt it as the food was below standard from all the reviews I have read. If it was one dish I would understand but not all our dishes. If the owner needs to be present to get 5 star service then unfortunately I was there on the wrong night

Edible and nice staff, but so much better Indian in sea point! This place serves the food with tastic thick grain rice instead of gorgeous fluffy basmati - that kills me!; tons of oil coating the seafood curry like it was a natural disaster; the dahl was watery and lacked complexity; and the Biryani was fine but again it was made with tastic rubbish rice! Do yourself a favor and go down the road to 91 which has epic Indian food (and no I do not work there or benefit in any way from saying this).
