Such beautiful interior and small touches. Makes me feel like I am in Mexico City. The tacos have a variety of meats and options. I loved the fish and steak tacos. But the churros are the star of the show. I would go back again to try the rest of the menu.

The place is very nice and casual suitable for light meals. The waiter wasnt very friendly. I felt unwelcomed. The tacos were delightful. I recommend the steak Quesadillas and the chicken tacos. The prawn tacos components were good but it only contained two small pieces of shrimp. The fish taco was a bit dry.

This is a super late review, but I had a little birthday drinks back in August. As we couldnt make a booking, myself and friends arrived and the manger + staff did all they could to accommodate us even with the limited space. We had such a wonderful evening, the food, drinks and service was incredible. I love coming back here :)

Amazing food! Great service, beautiful atmosphere and decorations. I highly recommend the fish tacos and mushrooms quesadilla, super delicious! Markus was especially helpful when I had questions about the menu and was a perfect server.

Really authentic, fun vibe – great color and fresh flowers. Nice menu. Decent value. Friendly staff. Chips and guacamole were solid. One of our tacos was top notch, the other two were good not great. But we also lived in Texas so it’s hard to beat. But this is one of the best tacos we’ve had in Africa! We’ll definitely be back.

If you go to El Burro and don’t order atleast 2 fish tacos you are doing yourself a disservice! Best fish tacos in Africa!The duck tacos & chili marg were also amazing👌🏻Their new space is absolutely gorgeous (very instagrammable) but so much smaller than the original that I wonder if I will ever get a table there again :(The only suggestion I would make is a comprehensive tequila / mezcal list with price and origin.

In terms of food, atmosphere, and service its a good restaurant overall. I was looking for more authentic Mexican food so wasnt satisfied by the drinks or dishes. I would definitely go back but not when Im craving Mexican food. Churros and croquettes were on point, everything else was slightly off in terms of authenticity.

This place has amazing authentic Mexican! Great flavors and big portions! I got the prawn tacos and my fiance went for the chicken. Sauces were a little on the sweet side - nothing hit with a super spicy or hot taste (even the Habenero mango sauce on the prawn tacos was rather mild - but still delicious) We shared the guacamole & chips - avo amount was very generous. The watermelon margarita was tasty too! Look forward to going back. Decor was also fun and bright. Nice atmosphere for sitting inside or out. Perf for family, friends, or a date.

One had the chicken enchiladas ... more akin almost to a chicken parm taste, which was surprising, but also good. The winner at the table was actually the vegan jackfruit enchiladas (although we did put real sour cream on them because the vegan sour cream that came with was kind of bland).Nice ambience, great music, good service. If youre not expecting actual Mexican food (or really, more accurately, TexMex food), its fine. The drink menu looks fun!That said, we thought it was overpriced, so just three stars.Note: This restaurant is upstairs. If there is an elevator, I didnt see it, so not sure how accessible it is for everyone. *******As noted by owner, it is an old building, hence no elevator. I was feeling adventurous and remembered my student days of Mexican food!!Thus I took the whole family to El Burro.The boys loved the adventure of the walking on the pavement late at night and going for a meal in Cape Town.Our waitress Loice was a gem.Her smile and soft character made us feel at home immediately.The boys loved eating with their hands and filling up their tortillas with sour cream,guacamole and salsa.We asked for children friendly versions and Loice suggested the right options.We will be back for more🙌🏻🙌🏻

Was surprisingly very very good (considering we’re in South Africa).I’m latino and I feel like this is one of the best mexican restaurants I’ve tried (of course not compared to Mexico) but very very close taste.The food was amazing. Very good flavor and huge portions. The frozen margaritas were really good so was the guacamole. Nachos are good too.A very special shout-out to our waitress “Tayra” (not sure if it’s spelled correctly) but she made our night more than great! Her service was really good and kind. Feels like she really likes her job. we left very happy and very full.Fully recommended

We ordered their Meal At Home this week and we were absolutely blown away. We had vegan build your own tacos, chilli rellenos, and a Jackfruit enchilada. The instructions on all of the components were so easy to follow and the attention to detail was out of this world. There was enough food that we actually had leftovers for lunch today! You can also add some of their sauces and tacos for future use! If they ever sell the pineapple salsa, Ill be first in line. We will order this again and again. Beautiful service and such an amazing product and idea. Also, a really reasonable delivery fee.

The first thing that impressed me was when I phoned to make a booking, I received a confirmation SMS of my booking immediately! What a good idea! The staff were really amazing and friendly and I give them 5 stars. The reason this restaurant lost a star, in my humble opinion is the food was good but not great. It could be that I just dont know what Mexican food is about, but I ordered their chicken main, which has chocolate in the sauce, so I was expecting a wow flavour, but it tasted nothing out of this world. The green rice was novel but it was just a whole lot of rice, which I dont eat.My husband had the steak Asada, the most expensive main, and he enjoyed it, but again, at that price, he was not wowed.I ordered a tequila sour cocktail which was really sour! I love sour tasting drinks but this was super sour so be warned!Lovely decor and vibe. Overall a nice place.

We never tire of eating the meals here. A little piece of America in Africa. Authentic as it can get when so far away from so many key ingredients. The atmosphere makes it worth the one hour drive to get there.

The food was amazing, my service was incredible, vibe is cool , however I heard (I think it was the manager- she was around a lot and seating people) swearing at staff- which ruined the experience and atmosphere for me. I enjoyed el burro but I hate it when managers or owners speak in A nasty way to staff. I’ve worked in the industry and never heard bosses speak to their staff like so. Such a shame as the rest was good.

OK so stunning interior and vibe is cool inside. Food wasnt good at all. Everything was so heavily flavoured with smokey sauce, something I cant stand. And didnt taste like Mexican food at all to me. Drinks took 30mins and when following up got short answers from the flustered waiter. I was disappointed and expected more with the food.
