Wow wow wow! Im a total foodie especially when Im traveling, on this specific day I was limited to veg meals due to religious beliefs BUT my mushroom risotto had to be thee best veg meal Ive had whilst in Cape Town. The food was presented well and tasted just as good if not better. Definitely a must try.

Youd think that if you are the only group in the restaurant that the wait staff would be able to take your orders and clear the table. Most pathetic service and food, no wonder the restaurant is empty while everywhere else has lines coming out of them.

Had a nice dinner here tonight with my family. The food was great, the only thing missing from the dessert menu was gulab-jamon and rasmalai. The mango-lassi we had was overly sour probably used sour yogurt for it. Our server Munya was incredibly nice and even surprised us by putting on music from our home country which was a bonus.

The curry dishes are some of Cape Towns best. Nestled in the renowned Grand West Casino this is a good place to spoil a loved one. The food is expensive for what you get. Floor management is active to ensure a good service, sometimes a bit too much when the manager wants to know every 5 minutes if everything is fine. We requested a doggy bag to take away some food left over but was disappointed when we got home and only part of the leftovers were put in the bag.

We have given ourselves one-an-a-half hours to catch a meal before our movie. Waited for a while at the door and eventually seated ourselves. Waiter took a while to take our order. We asked her to bring the starter and main together as we could see that were going to run out of time. Patrons from different tables were looking at one another making negative hand gestures in disgust sharing our common plight. We rushed through the meal even asking for the bill while we were still eating and even that took a while. My wife eventually got up to pay at the till herself. We saw others who also seated themselves after a long wait at the door eventually leaving as they received no service. We could not believe that there were so few waiters on a show night when Grandwest was packed with patrons. We ended up late for the movie. Needless to say, we will not be returning.

Enjoyed the modern Indian styled meals. Prices are a bit on the heavy side but so are the portions. Had a few starters and mains. The starters were good and so were the mains but would recommend sharing a curry dish and perhaps ordering a extra naan, although the naan is big. You do have the option to replace the naan with rice. Service was OK as it wasnt busy on the evening.

Hi guys. Went to Bukaras grand west Sunday the 15th March 2020. Eddy the Manager was off on Sundays. Bianca my waitress was very pleasant. Orderd the light meals. When my order arrived there was no Naan that is included in this meal. So called the waitressHad a chat. She went back to the chefs.,they claimed the meal is served like that. I showed her the menu that clearly states comes with Naan. She went back to chefs, then chefs got angry and stated to bang the dishes around in the kitchen Sounded like they were angry at the waitress. This clearly sounds like when the manager is not there these guys think they can do as they like. Im hoping that the boss gets to read my review...

I never thought it was possible to ruin an Indian meal but Bukhara, Grand West managed an excellent job of it. The outstanding reputation that they held is now in shreds for me. We arrived at the restaurant at lunch time and apart from the attractive entrance set up by the Hotel, Bukhara was empty and remained that way for the entire lunch. The food was almost a complete disaster and their saving grace was the Butter chicken, tender and delicious. The Daal Makhani was a watered down soup, the prawns were small and soggy, even the extra prawn did not make up for the miserable presentation. My friend chose the Chicken Lababdar which was a blob of shredded chicken. The passion has left the kitchen

Bukhara Grandwest left a bitter taste to my mouth. 9th Feb a friend and I felt for some Indian Cuisine. Tried calling numerous times to make a booking. Finally we arrived at Bukhara. It was pretty empty with just to customers. I then asked why dont they answer their phones .I was then told by the waitron that their phones dont work. We ordered our meals. Which was SUPERB. However the service by the manager was pathetic. Not one did the manageress come to our table and ask how meal was. Then a couple walked in which was a different race and and they were seated, greeted. Not once did the manageress come to our table and ask how meal was. After our meal was done we asked for a finger bowl. We waited. . Only to find out the waiter forgot about us and was leaving after his shift. I then asked what about the finger bowl . He then replied some one will help you . We paid our bill no THANK YOU FROM THE MANAGER or a goodbye. Now I understand why its always quiet. Compliments to the CHEF THOUGH.

I first went to this restaurant 5 years ago when it was apparently one of the best indian places in town. Food and service were both amazing. It is however sad to observe that everything has just been going downhill thereafter. You no longer get the nice welcome from the waiters, food is just terrible and my friends and I even once got the Sorry. We dont have the ingredients for the one dish on the menu- something you do not expect from a restaurant which claims to be arguably the finest cuisine on planet earth.

So heard good comments about this place and decided to take my wife out tonight for supper. Food was good, presentation and welcoming was good. Food was way overpriced though. However upon leaving, I noticed the tandoori chef sneeze, but put both his hands in front of his nose in the kitchen, and then with the same hands, prepared the Naan or roti, without cleaning his hands. This put me off as the food preparation area is open plan, so you can see the meals being prepared so now am puzzled by the restaurants cleanlines and hygiene. I asked the waitress to please inform him about it, in my presence, so he was not too happy about this. Its small things like this that brings a good restaurants reputation down.

Sad to say that this place has gone downhill over the last 2 years. Not worth it anymore. New chefs make the food completely different to what we have come to expect. My wife and I have been going for years ordering at least 1 butter chicken curry, which was always a red colour. This time, it was brown and nowhere near as good. They also didnt have the poppadoms and everything was lifeless. The service was also lackluster. Rather go to the one in Cape Town.

The waitress appoligize and said please take the dish and it will be comped. She ate a little bit and left most. When the bill for the group arrived her meal was on the tab. The waitress would not make eye contact. When checking with the manager he said no you must pay. Also he was extremely rude. Please dont go to this restaurant. We had dinner before a show and it took 1.5 hrs to get the food (excluding the rice or naan - ie. just the curry arrived). Not once did the manager come to apologise or inform of the busy kitchen. Their was a special reduced show menu (150 ZAR for 4/5 pieces of chicken) and yet the kitchen wasnt able to get it out to the tables. Poor communication. I suggest you sit down with the team.

The food was AMAZING! We ordered the Butterchicken Tikka and lamb curry dish with Naan bread and rice. Wow! A bit pricy, but decent portions and worth every penny. Relaxed atmosphere. The dining experience was not a good one. We chose a Durbanville Hills Chardonnay which was not a available, we were requested to select another wine, we chose a Tokara Chardonnay, that also not available and had to settle on a third wine. The stuffed mushrooms were not available either. The food was not great and the service was shocking considering only 2 tables were occupied in the restaurant. We realised after our meal why the restaurant was so empty, it is expensive and the food is terrible, will not recommend this restaurant to anybody.

I have a history with Bakhara. Fabulous Indian restuarant, awesome food, but this is the one in Sandton. So I assumed the one in Grand West Casino would have the same exquisite food and brilliant service. How wrong I was. From the moment we arrived, the Maitred, clearly new, like a deer in the headlights had no idea how to manage the influx of diners for evening service, no waiting list, no drinks while you waited, no idea really and a terrified expression every time we looked in her direction as we waited for nearly 40 minutes for a table? We were there for the Russell Peters show, we explained this as we were seated, yet at 7-45 (15 minutes to showtime) we were still waiting. So off to the show, with no dinner, but they insisted on us paying for the wine and took my number, assuring us of warm food and good hospitality when the show was over. Well post show, no hospitality, bad service and 3 missed calls later, to check we were coming, I am underwhelmed and completely disappointed. Yes, we complained....they comped us one of the meals, no apology, no explanation... poor service, poor management, poor delivery, you have lost a loyal customer.

I had a booth booked at Bukhara on Saturday evening, 29 November 2014 at 6.30pm for 7pm for 15 people. Upon making the telephonic booking I was asked to payment of R50.00 per head - which undoubtedly I refused. At 5pm on Saturday I received a telephone call from a staff member of Bukhara to ask whether I would be able to make it for my 5.30 booking - this is to say the least unsettling as I made the effort to make a booking for 6.30pm, needless to say I had to reiterate my correct booking time in this call. Upon my arrival at 6.20pm I was met by a gentleman at the door to whom I announced I have a booking for 6.30pm for 15 people and gave my name. The reply I got was how did you get a booking for 15 people? to which I replied I have a booth booked for 15 people and was told someone else will attend to me. This welcome was a clear put off. I was seated upstairs by a waitress who advised I have a VIP booking. I was offered bottles of water to be brought to the table which was charged at R48.00 per bottle. As the evening progressed we were advised by our waiter who practically stayed at our table all night (which must be the VIP treatment) that he suggests be brings us platters of starters to which we agreed. For a main course our waiter suggested he brings us three different curries which consisted of three small bowls of chicken, prawn and mutton curry a small bowl of basmati rice and a naan bread. For drinks we collectively ordered 12 mojitos 5 southern comforts 1 bicardi and chasers and for the 7 people at our table our bill amounted to R3 282.00 which included a gratuity charge. At about 11pm two of us left the restaurant to go have a smoke and the rest of the restaurant was empty to which we heard a shout from amongst the staff who were just lounging around when are you going home. We left this horrible restaurant just before midnight and this awful establishment will never ever see the colour of my money again.
