The imphepho and edible clay ice cream that I had at Tapi Tapi a few months ago was one of the best, most memorable ice creams Ive ever had. Smokey and fudgey – just amazing. There are always new flavours, always ranging from creamier options to ice creams with tangs and zings of unusual flavours that you dont usually encounter in an ice cream: mildly sour flavours, a little bitterness, some chili heat.As this suggests, Tapi Tapi is highly, highly recommended for adventurous eaters. (That said, my kids love it, too!)

This is more than ice cream. It’s an experience. What amazing inspiration has brought this place to life. I particularly enjoy the more astringent , bitter and spicy flavours that are in the ice cream because they are so unique and interesting. Beautiful art work as well.

A 100% of these reviews are 5 stars. Do you know how great your product has to be to please everyone? Tapiwa has gotten the formula down to a science because he DOES NOT MISS. His ice cream flavours are ingenious, you will not find them in any other store. There is a story behind each flavour and an even better lesson to follow. He will introduce you to a myriad of facts surrounding African cuisine and what makes his ice cream so special. Your taste buds will enjoy the experience of a lifetime as Tapiwa introduces you to ordinary flavours like Ceylon and Rooibos tea and transforms them into something amazing! I cannot rave enough about his ice cream. Hes an amazing guy selling phenomenal ice cream and, he just so happens to have some wicked stories to sweeten (the already amazing) deal.

Tapiwas incredible passion for African ingredients make for some of the delicious ice creams Ive ever had. We visited in the midst of a focus on maize, ranging from sweet to savory flavors. I was blown away by how amazing each ice cream was.

You don’t expect to experience unique and delicious flavours and learn at the same time. Tapiwa is educating South Africans on Southern African flavours and foods one ice cream scoop at a time! Head to Tapi Tapi for a wonderful and relaxing adventure. It’s an absolute must-visit if you’re in Obs, or anywhere in Cape Town.

We enjoyed their exotic ice creams. If you have allergies make sure to let them know because unexpected ingredients find their way into these treats.

The afro-centric flavours are amazing. Flavours and combination that I never imagined and knew about are handmade deluciously as ice-cream.

Ice cream is great, it always has been and yet Tapiwa, the owner of Tapi Tapi, has somehow managed to make something that was already great even greater. He has managed to infuse African culture into his chosen art... And its simply brilliant.

Aside from great attention to detail and an owner with a great story, these frozen desserts and their unique flavors are just delicious — and they don’t have any crazy preservatives in them, just good, clean and tasty as hell stuff.
