The thing you can do for others can simple be your time. Community service shouldnt be forced on someone but one need a to be able to decide.

Excellent service for the many homeless adults in the Western Cape. No one should have to live on the streets.

ComplaintTo whom it may concernOn 3rd September I was left to wonder do the staff at the Haven really care about the clients at the Haven shelter. On Saturday morning after breakfast Charles the Host was talking from the top of his voice, telling all the men in our dorm to all leave the premisses at ones, as we are allowed to stay in on Saturdays and Sundays. When I asked him for what reason no reason was given instead he was rude and blunt. What he did say was Chris lee was on her way there as we will deal with her if we are not gone by then. I was sick and weak as I spent the day in bed on Friday as I was weak to go walk around in this condition.I left at 8.00am and came back to the shelter at 16.00h When I got back I heard Mr Barney and Mr Schwartz Complaint that they were lied to and were left outside the OK supermarket just up the road from the shelter, as they were left with no supervision the whole day. When they complained on the treatment they were brushed off as they had no say.I was shocked on the way they were treated as they are both old and not taken seriously. It is my duty as a client to forward their complaint as this will only be swept under the carpet. This is not the first time they have received such treatment. My complaintWhy was nobody informed of a meeting that was scheduled on that day, as a piped out notice would have been good enough. Why was no provision made for them both as they are both In their 70s and can hardly walkNo word was given to them to when they would be picked up at the OK supermarket. They were dropped off by Rastas 08.00am and only arrived home at 16.0hNo toilet facilities were pointed out to them, where they had to use the local tree and bushThey were left with no food or waterNo phone number to call if something would happen to them. They both complained on how hungry ad cold they were on SaturdaySunday morning both of them did not get up for breakfastEvince the supervisor whet to investigate and found Peter In the worst shape he has ever been.Mr Schwartz has been hospitalized about 5 times I the last two months as his health is deteriorating.Kevin phoned the ambulance as the assisted him with medical care for 45 min in the bed he has been sleeping in. He left with the paramedics In a stretcher on a drip and breathing machine.I have been staying at the shelter for two months as lots of boiling and unfair treatment is being a daily thing.I request that the party’s involved in poor chronic client care should be disciplined or my e-mail will go to social media as well as the local press.I eagerly await your replyThank you Eben Nel

The staff and management opened their door to bout 0 homeless people during the freak storm that hit Cape Town last week, this was over and above the 95 clients that use the facility. The staff are hard working, caring, empathetic and passionate about their work.
