While I was employed by a large architectural practice in the city about 25 years ago, or thereabouts, I did a presentation on the building. I had done the research, and managed to photograph the building both externally and inside just before the first tenants began to occupy. The presentation covered the historical facts about the building, but more than that, it showed the building in a vacant state for the last time before occupation. One gets a very good idea of the spaces, which are considerable, as well as what was discovered during the renovation process. Internal arches were bricked up to rationalise space during the time that the building operated as a brewery. None of this would have been seen otherwise. I intended producing a publication featuring the photographs, and spoke with South African Breweries about the possibility, but they have been less that enthusiastic. It remains a project worth doing. I also have a photoshoot of the Old Power Station on the foreshore taken just before demolition, which must have some kind of archival significance for the city, and which is also worth looking at in terms of a publication.
