Worth the hike to the π top of Lionβs Head in Capetown South Africa! Table Mountain is frequently covered in fog, and the poor visibility or wind π¨ causes the cable car to not operate under these conditions. Lions Head also has unbelievable paragliding launch points over terrain that is so beautiful, itβs difficult to articulate. Take a 360 degree picture π· from the top.Ironically the best views are of Table Mountain, not FROM Table Mountain.Lions Head π¦ is also an amazing hike, and should is a bucket list experience that is now checked off the list!! π β°π₯Ύπππ»π΅ββοΈπ
An amazing experience! Beautiful views. Friendly people and its free. There is even a Vida e Cafe van at the start/end point. I would recommend going early morning as it does get hot and it is quite busy and waiting in the shade or cooler air is better than waiting in the scorching sun. You have to park quite far away but I believe its worth it. Moderate fitness is required as it is a demanding hike. But Ill say once again, absolutely worth it! Many many places to take beautiful photos.
A relatively easy hike with a ton of spots to stop and snap some stunning photos. Easy parking and a little food truck Cafe at the starting point to get your caffeine fix or replenish your electrolytes afterwards with their cold sports drinks. Parking is free and has a great view over looking the city.
Several great hikes can be started here, including the main attraction, the hike up Lions Head. However, there is limited parking and it can get crowded, with cars lining the road and looking for parking. Only walking the more gentle first part up to the parachute launchpad if youre not up for the whole hike is also a great option.
Lions Head is the sweet spot when it comes to climbing mountains in the Cape and South Africa as a whole. Its relatively safe as there are always a few people climbing it, unlike the other mountains where there is a risk of being attacked by criminals lurking in the bushes. In addition there seems to be some snacks available at the start of this climb so you could enjoy some good food once you make it to the top. Last but not least, once you do make it to the top, the views are spectacular and utterly satisfying. Enjoy!
Has all the inform you need before starting the hike. The start of the hike is also clearly indicated, so you dont start on the wrong trail
Fantastic hike and the view is amazing. Would be 5 stars if it wasnt so busy. I wouldnt take a baby/child under 4 here but I did see people with a 2 year old going down the mountain. It can get very cold and misty on top sometimes so its advisable to take some warm clothes if the weather isnt super hot. If youre somewhat fit, you can do this hike in under 2 hours. Its just over 5km to go up and down.
As anyone in Cape Town can tell you, this is an incredible hike. Very good for novices and more advanced hikers/climbers alike: it is not too long, the path is relatively easy the whole way, but there is some scrambling with metal ladders, staples, and chains at the end if you choose to use them. There is a Vida E CafΓ© at the bottom of the trail. The views are gorgeous throughout the entire hike. The number one must-do hike in Cape Town.
Nice hike..not for the fainthearted
Fantastic hike up to the top. For some great tips especially summer time go up at 5:15am or just before sunrise. Its pretty spectacular. For sure a sunset hike is also amazingly beautiful from the top. Also ..there is a nice base run path literally around the base of Lions head for 5km which is beautiful. Park at the Kramat or mosque further away from the normal lions head parking . So drive a little further away toward signal hill and in about 350 m you should see the mosque or kramat feature. Start there for your run or walk around. Enjoy.
This is a nice moderate intensity hike, if youre relatively fit. Although said to be child friendly, I wouldnt take young children. It gets busy, so get there early & watch the weather. I recommend having water & warm clothing with you.
This is great if you like hiking. The weather today was perfect for hiking. Not a strenuous hike up, a little bit of scrambling up at the last end just before reaching summit. Love Cape Town in all its natural beauty.
Trail is well maintained but can get quite busy from 5am weekends. The 360 degree view however worth the walk. Vida Cafe truck at start of trail for that energy booster coffee or chilled drink. No toilets though unless you drive to signal hill
Always a pleasant and refreshing hike. Ive done it countless times but its a different experience each time. The little coffee shop at the start is also such a nice addition.
The starting point has been made super with the vidda e mobile coffee shop. Selling both hot and cold beverages and staying open until at least 9pm allowing for late night walkers a great opportunity to slate their thirst on the return.Ample parking can be found at the starting point.
I need to hike it again soon.
Lion Head Hike is not for people who are afraid of heights. Nonetheless once you summit the peak, the view of the Mother City is rewarding. Air Medical Services is amazing.
Beautiful attraction. The views are excellent. It could do with better refreshment offering.
Stunning scenic route! Loved the hike. Cant wait to go again π
Most stunning views as one walks to the top, but the best all round view is from the very top. Great trail and when coming down again, an ice coffee or any other drink with food is a great way to celebrate ones achievement at the mobile Cafe at the beginning of your trail of Lions Head.
My kids loved this. I wasnt wearing proper shoes but I loved the scenery
Steep start but it well worth it... once you pass the gravel incline it gets better
Wont be disappointed...no dares just pure delight reaching the top...one of my best sunset places
Perfect hiking & must do if you are in CPT! Starts slowly with an up wall and then biking & climbing. I recommend to go there early ( 07:30 to 08:45 ) in the months December to February except you use lots of sunscreen and dont fear the hot sun ;)At the starting point there is a coffee cantone with juices, water and snacks. From beginners to pros, everyone will enjoy it. So, go for it!
Great trail, amazing view ! The table mountain backdrop is worth it ! Maybe a bit over crowded
Safe and great place to start your hike to the top. Parking is generally at a premium so arrive super early.
As a local I know that lions head is a iconoc and fun hike, just watch out that in summer it can get too hot in my opinion, winter hikes are the best because of cooler temperatures. But if you are stuck in summer and its just too hot than gonon a night walk, but dont forget a torch and be careful.
There were toilets (looked locked), and vendors (water and snacks) available. Trail was clearly marked.
Easiest hike in Cape Town...easy peasy. Also children friendly
Great hike. Great view. Great workout
Great easy hike for anyone. Spectacular views.
Fantasric place to for a great view of Cape Town, Robben Island, V &, A Waterfront, the harbour, the Gardens, etc. Can take marvelous photographs from up there.
Just look around I dont need words to describe the beauty that surrounds you.
I like the history n th metrical beacon on top yu ought to be thrilled seeing it too
What an amazing experience. Cant wait to visit again
Killer views of all of Cape Town. busy hike, easily done in 2 hours return
A very well organised clear route with beautiful scenic views.
Nice place to have fun, enjoy the mother city landscape while exercising

Paragliding was absolutely awesome.a must try to all tourists.

Its right in our back yard, got to love Lions head
Great hike if youre up for it.
5 star view. 1 star if you unfit
Im sedentary and almost died lots of times on the way... dont reccomend it

Its hot and lot of hikers very busy out here
Lovely hike
Awesome hike. Wide road.
Good place to challenge your body
We did a sunset hike here at a slow pace, so slow that we even saw the moon on our way down.
Amazing - worth the effort & sweat.
The views are beautiful from the top!
Work out with a view beat a treadmill
Love it but not enough parking
I will go there more often
