I always love hitting the trails from the Nek as my starting point. There is 3 levels you can choose from to explore the trails from beginner to expert. I usually choose the technical routes by climbing upto Eagles Nest and scrambling up diagonally cutting through the peak to the 1st Dam.

Absolutely breathtaking views. It is a long hike +/-6 hrs depending on your pace and how often you rest and stop to enjoy the views and if you are going to all the dams - there are 5 in total but it is worth every step. There are so many trails to choose from. Nice easy enough level trails for the novice hiker BUT definitely not for small children, with some steep inclines from time to time OR more challenging ones for the more adventurous hikers. Get an early start - 6 o clock or earlier because the sun is harsh if u start too late. JUST DO IT. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.

I will fully recommend this to the outdoors enthusiasts.. two separate ways up one easy to mild the other hard as can be with steps straight up all the time but definitely worthwhile..we enjoyed it and friendly people all around..great scenic hike with breathtaking views.5 stars

Very scenic with superb views. Very steep, but reasonably well maintained footpath with wooden steps. Option to walk on the paved road several places along the way, which is not as steep, but longer. Walk all the way up to De Villiers Dam.

As others have mentioned this is a medium to serious hiking trail, definitely not for the daily elderly stroll or quick 15 minute dog walk (even though it is great if you are looking to tire them out). There are a plethora of paths were the unfamiliar hiker could easily get turned around or lost. That in combination with consistently poor GPS service it would be a complete recipe for disaster. If you do plan of trying out this trail you WILL NOT be disappointed. It offers a totally different feel from almost another other side of Table Mountain and can lead you to many great hidden treasures (waterfalls, streams, caves, etc). The pathways themselves are actually pretty well built and maintened, youll find great routes with steps leading up and down and all around. No real areas to rest sit and rest out of the suns rays or benches to comfort the aore back, but the deeper you go more fallen trees and rocks can be a quick substitute. Bring plenty of water (2 litres, along with a couple granola bars and trail mix to snack on while staring at the gorgeous view). Dont forget good, grippy, comfortable (and preferably waterproof) hiking shoes. Pack a jacket if the weather seems even slightly too windy as the weather can turn suddenly and leave you cold (and potentially wet). If you are going on a particularly rainy day, like I have been a few times, its always nice to bring an extra pair of socks for the halfway mark. With all that said, this is an amazing branch of trails for the acclimated hiker that will surely having you coming back for more adventures.

Absolutely lovely walk but definitely not for the faint hearted🤪 if u not a regular hiker please do not attempt this walk it can be quite strenuous and certainly not meant for families with little children--to do this walk u definitely need to get a head start of very early morning like maybe 5am as the summer heat can play some really mean tricks on yr mind🤭 also note make sure u have an empty bladder because guess what u in the bush and no toilet facilities in sight yep only the bush 😜 otherwise not bad with some good company and energy snacks👍😊

Absolutely stunning hiking trail. You start from the parking lot by la Parada and then hike up a winding gravel road into the mountains. Stunning views, theres a bridge, a reservoir and even a museum! I highly recommend even if youre not that fit.

This trail is truly a gift that keeps giving. It is friendly, with wide open spaces and gorgeous ferns and fynbos. You can choose from a multitude of trails. I personally love the trail into Kirstenbosch Gardens for a bathroom break, a quick picnic and plant investigation detour...then a relaxing hike back to the Nek. There are no dogs allowed in Kirstenbosch, so leave your babies at home. A definite must for the family, visitors and friends.

A Moderate to Strenuous hike if one walks all the way to the Hely-Hutchinson Dam and the museum on top. Beautiful vista to be seen. One has an option of taking the somewhat easier Jeep track or the trail itself which starts off straight up.

A TOUGH route with breathtaking views of Constantia winelands, the dams in Table Mountain are cherry on top, pity we could not see how big they are due to cloudy weather. If you looking for a challenge Constantia Nek-Jeep track trail is a must do.
