Chapmans hardware is a very pleasant what looks like a family run store with plenty of parking and easy access.There is a wide range of items that meet most of my household needs with the staff been friendly and always helpful.The store seems to be stuck in time with check out and service at the help counter always been very slow but generally a very pleasant helpful experience.

Well stocked, very helpful staff.

I was not very happy with the customer service there. At the entrance, there are the checkout cashiers and other than the goods in the aisles you cant see much unless you are tall. I waited to be served and looked around for someone to assist me. Nothing happened. Eventually I stood inline and asked the cashier if she could get someone to assist me or where I could find someone? She impatiently pointed out to a desk at the back of the store and said to go there. I asked, how would I know to do this if I am not a regular customer and there are NO visible signs saying, help desk or customer service. Nothing. So you wander around for ages until you have to somehow figure out that customer service desk is at the back. The only good thing about my experience was the friendly young lady who eventually assisted me.Please put up signs to indicate where the help desk is and make it big enough so shorter people are able to see it as they walk in the door. Thank you

I find chappies a convenient place to find stuff, without going over the mountain to Tokyo. Their stuff is a little more expensive, but not excessively so. Their paint mixing department is good. Staff generally helpful. Need a few more people on tills on busy days and a faster POS system would help move things along at checkout.

As hardwares go ..this one is great ..large selection and most nb helpful and friendly service from knowledgeable staff.

Their prices are expensive but they dont offer anything different. Some stock lines are limited. I would only visit for convenience if building nearby...other hardware stores in the valley have far more choices

If you need plumbing, building, painting or general DIY advice, Chapmans is great. They usually have whatever i need, and are extremely polite and helpful. They have experts in the various hardware sections who are excellent and prepared to talk you through doing your own DIY.

Chapmans is bigger than it seems from the outside and is brimming with stock and choice which I like very much.When you can find a staff member, they are knowledgeable and helpful. There is an older gentleman there who I seek out as he is so helpful and kind 💜I do feel the store could do with a greeter perhaps or some hanging signage or something as it is not obvious where to head off in search for what is needed for the job. The prices are generally higher than other stores but then the stock holding almost makes up for it.

Have stock...but mist of the stock is Very expensive...much more than other hardware and building stores.

I needed some pvc pipe for a project I was working on. A very helpful staff member took my specifications and cut everything to size as well help me assemble what I was building. 10/10 will visit again.

Oh this place is just a woman who doesnt know much about paint and drills etc , dream! The staff is always ready to answer any questions, they are patient and take their time to explain stuff. Its also one of the few shops where they actually offer a cheaper version of an article. Regular customer right here...

Convenient location but staff are not given adequate training so I often end up having to find my own solutions. Staff and management are friendly and helpful though, so you can find help if youre willing to track down someone who actually knows DIY.

Best hardware store in the area. Could have better selection though, but the staff is attentive and helpful.

I just have a gripe regarding business hours. Especially on Sundays. I end up going over the mountain for all my thingamajigs that connect to the watchamacallits. Otherwise everything else is fine.

For the products available I would definitely give about a 3 rating but the customer service with some of the employees is just plan missing. E.g. I asked if they stocked scroll saw blades (simple yes or no question right?) I had one employee completely ignore me and continue trying to hit on co-worker and another tell me that Im probably thinking of a hacksaw, regardless of me telling him that theyre two completely different tools. I eventually spoke to the manager who not only knew the difference but told me that unfortunately he doesnt stock the blades. Now armed with the knowledge and ready to leave the store, I couldnt help over hear the same two employees from earlier chatting about a stupid guy that doesnt know what a hacksaw is (could have at least waited for me to leave the store).

Good experience

If you live in Sun Valley/Sunnydale/Noordhoek area this independent hardware store is the only local source of vital tools and supplies. Floor staff usually helpful. Cashiers seem to wish they were somewhere else where customers wouldnt bother them. Bit more expensive than the chain stores but you will have to drive further to reach them.

Clean and well layed out. The staff are friendly and helpful.

Very helpful staff! Dont go there during loadshedding without cash for your purchase.

Somehow always short of really good, but still most likely of the local hardware stores to have the weird things I look for on a Sunday morning. Something of a crossover between a hardware store and a building supplies depot. Not cheap, but convenient.

More expensive than most hardware stores but they have a wide range of goods and one can purchase may items in small quantities... They are very conveniently placed for people in the Noordhoek Valley and the people there are very helpful.

Unfriendly, especially the till staff.One or two guys on the floor are very helpful tough.As a plus they do have a wide variety of stock albeit it 50-100% too expensive.In general it certainly doesn’t feel friendly and the prices make it a grudge purchase. In a pinch they will have what you need.Recommend buco or mica in fishhoek for a much nicer and cheaper experience.

On the plus side its a small, locally owned business, and conveniently located for Noordhoek, and has a wide range of hardware and building materials. However, it is usually substantially more expensive than other options (up to 2x in my experience) and although well staffed, customer care is unenthusiastic to say the least.

Awesome hardware store. A bit pricey but has everything under one roof. The tellers are not very enthusiastic as they complain to each other all the time. Last week they were discussing the loyalty card (which is now available) and what a mission it was for them as it was extra work. They sit on the p.cs at check out playing games online or on Facebook, it feels like one is burdening them when wanting to pay as they seem irritated.

Poor service!!! I left after 15 minutes and 6x staff members could not help me with the price of black plastic sheeting??? I went to BuCo, great service. Shall not return!
